Model Severely Damages Her Face By Injecting Cooking Oil In Plastic Surgery Attempt A Korean model who became addicted to plastic surgery has now done irreversible damage to her face after she took measures into her own hands when doctors refused to perform any more surgery. via International Business Times A former Korean model addicted to plastic surgery injected cooking oil into her face when doctors refused to perform any more cosmetic operations on her. Hang Mioku, now about 50 years old, has been left with an badly disfigured face following her desperate attempt to attain softer and smoother skin. Mioku had her first plastic surgery when she was 28 years old, and soon became obsessed. She moved to Japan to pursue her career and underwent several more bouts of surgery, Mail Online reports. However, after undergoing repeated operations to enhance her looks, doctors refused to provide her with any more silicone injections when her face became noticeably enlarged. A desperate Mioku then injected an entire bottle of black market silicone into her face and finally decided to inject cooking oil, leaving her cheeks and forehead severely swollen and scarred. Following the do-it-yourself beauty treatment, Mioku was left so disfigured that her own parents could not recognise her. When doctors analysed her, it was confirmed she was suffering from a psychological disorder. All of this to be what she thought was “more beautiful.” SMH. Although reality television certainly isn’t a gender-biased genre, it’s no secret that the most widely popular reality shows often feature women. The reasoning behind the overwhelming female presence is debatable: Do viewers in general find women to be more visually stimulating, more entertaining, or simply more willing to have their lives filmed and broadcast to the world? Or is it a combination of all three? Whatever the case, women of all races, shapes, sizes and backgrounds grace our television screens daily , with a new reality show popping up seemingly every month. And what’s more, the forumla for a successful female-dominated reality series seems to be pretty much the same: a mixture of outspoken women, shameless women and the token level-headed woman, all desiring to take their career or lifestyle to the next level by any means necessary. However, many argue that this very formula is purposely contrived to portray minority women in a worse light than their white counter parts………but are they right? Do predominantly white reality shows like Mob Wives, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Jersey Shore not promote and glamorize the same reckless behavior as shows like Basketball Wives, Real Housewives of Atlanta and Love And Hip Hop? 46 People Arrested During Brooklyn Protest Over Teen Killed By Police Things are continuing to heat up in NYC as a heartbroken community in Brooklyn continues to protest the shooting death of a 16-year-old teenager who allegedly pointed a gun at NYPD before they opened fire, shooting him to death. via The Grio Nearly four dozen people were arrested as scores of demonstrators gathered in Brooklyn for a third consecutive day to protest the NYPD department following the police-involved shooting of a 16-year-old boy over the weekend, authorities said. Protesters attended a candlelight vigil Wednesday night for Kimani “Kiki” Gray just blocks from where he was shot to death by police Saturday night. The anger was palpable as a group of young people heckled police officers in helmets and later marched down a street. The vigil’s organizers tried and failed to calm the young people, some of whom later threw bottles at police officers. One officer’s face was hit with a brick; he was treated for a laceration and released from Suny Downstate Hospital, police confirmed. Forty-six people were arrested on disorderly conduct charges during Wednesday evening’s protest, including Gray’s sister, police told NBC 4 New York. Police said additional and varying charges are pending for many of those arrested. Specific charges against Gray’s sister were not immediatgely clear. A spokesman for Gray’s parents said they would not speak publicly as long as there was violence, which he said has “clouded their message.” “It’s a tough time for the community,” said the spokesman, Rev. Gilford Monrose. “But the family and myself do not condone the violence.” Too many lives are being lost as a result of these young people being in the wrong place at the wrong time and often for the wrong reasons.
