Source: Adam Bettcher / Getty Build-A-Bear Workshop might want to stay clear of kids for a few days. Because Timmy, Tommy and Lucy are ready to SHUT. IT. DOWN. …or at least…their parents are. On Thursday, Build-A-Bear found themselves in a bit of a PR crisis when they promoted a day of “Pay Your Age.” Parents or guardians could bring their kids to the store and have them build the bear of their dreams for however many fingers they were holding up. In other words, if your kid was three-years-old, get out them singles, it’s their lucky day! The idea seemed great, right up there with the free Slurpee day on 7/11. Only problem is, the promotion was so popular, the massive crowds became too chaotic for Build-A-Bear. They had to close down certain stores or limit the lines at others. Peep the scene below… Once BAB closed or limited access to their stores, parents were NOT happy. @buildabear not being able to supply the demand on pay-your-age day is bad. making kids have to attend and being turned away at the door is disgusting. #promofail #PayYourAge #buildabear #angryparent — Graeme Allan (@pieman1872) July 12, 2018 @buildabear @emma1885 angry and fuming, we are working parents, my wife is having to drive 100 miles after work to get to a store to take up the offer, and now we have a 2 year old in meltdown she's not getting a bear, perhaps your MD wants to consul her @BBCWatchdog #buildabear — Dave A (@geekonaleashuk) July 12, 2018 Eesh. Two-year-old meltdown? No thank you. People who signed up for the free Build-A-Bear Bonus Club rewards program could earn the Pay Your Age promotion by giving an email address. Now that the promotion failed, BAB is giving out vouchers to people who were present in line and people in the U.S. and Canada who already signed up for the rewards program. Bonus Club members must log into their account by midnight on July 15 to receive their vouchers and they will be honored through August 31, 2018, according to BAB’s website . Well…it seems like the failed promotion day wasn’t a complete disappointment. Now parents just have to tend to their crying kids. Good luck!
Source: LWA/Dann Tardif / Getty Amazon Music Unlimited is trying to get ahead of the competition with a new dirt-cheap deal. The site is offering three months of ad-free, unlimited skip tunes music service for $0.99. According to the Terms and Conditions on the site, the offer will be from November 13, 2017 to December 23, 2017 and it’s for new Amazon Music Unlimited users only. Considering many folks are still hooked on Spotify, Apple Music, or Tidal, this is not a bad deal at all. Without the promotion, Amazon Music Unlimited is still cheaper than its competitors with a regular $7.99/month subscription, whereas the other music sites are mostly $9.99/month. New Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers will get millions of new releases and throwbacks from various artists for little less than a dollar. If you’re sold on Amazon’s new deal, you can sign up here .
Forget the Fyre Festival . Forget the reaction to Kim Zolciak offering up a blow job from her daughter in exchange for a meeting with John Legend. True madness fell over the Internet this week in response to an offer made by Sunny Co Clothing. Allow us to explain… On Wednesday, the manufacturer shared a picture of the red bathing suit above and included with it a tantalizing deal for followers. “Sharing is Caring,” opened the affiliated caption, which went on to explain the details of the company’s offer: “EVERYONE that reposts and tags us in this picture within the next 24 HOURS will receive a FREE Pamela Sunny Suit Offer only valid in Promo ends 5/3/17 @ 3pm MST *Must pay shipping+handling.” Wait… really? Yes. “This promotion is sponsored by @twazerapp,” concluded the teaser. “After 24 hr. everyone who reposted and tagged us will be receiving a code and they will be able to use it on our website for the free check out.” With a portion of the proceeds from the shipping and handling costs going to Alzheimer’s research, and with people in love with free things, mass chaos ensued online. It didn’t really occur to women around the country that this could result in them wearing the same swimsuit to the beach as, like 14 other women they know. Nor did it occur to Sunny Co Clothing that this promotion might take off. As in, REALLY, REALLY take off. Even Olympic champion Simone Biles asked folks on her timeline to chill the eff out when it comes to re-Tweeting the image. She was very nice about it, at least. Other Internet users? Not so much… In the aftermath of the way-too-viral moment, Sunny Co Clothing clarified the promotion’s rules, and mentioning to the possibility of some not receiving the swimsuits after all. OOPS! In a follow-up post, the company added the following bullet point: Due to the viral volume of participants, we reserve the right to cap the promotion if deemed necessary. We’re pretty sure it’s about to be deemed necessary. And we’re pretty sure this is a lesson to all other companies out there: Never underestimate the power of two things: The Internet. Free stuff. We’re just glad this promotion is nearly over. And we’re also glad the brand didn’t ask whether the bathing suit was white and gold or blue and black . Because then we’d have a real Twitter revolution on our hands.
I know that Kate Bock isn’t as big a name as some of her fellow SI hotties just yet, even if she was voted the mag’s Rookie of the Year back in 2013. And I think I may have finally figured out why after seeing these shots of her at the Sports Illustrated fan event in Miami. It’s not because the Canadian hottie isn’t a total smoke show (she is), it’s because she needs to learn how to dress. Don’t get me wrong, a pair of tight jeans is great, but a nice thong would show off that perfect booty of hers even better. This is supposed to be a fan event, right? Well, then all the more reason to give us perverts fans what we want. …Please? Photos: PacificCoastNews
We may not be getting any swimsuit model bikini hotness at any of the official SI events , but luckily, they can’t stop their models from wearing bikinis off the clock. And here’s Samantha Hoopes outside her hotel in Miami Beach finally giving us a peek, along with a killer leg show. Who needs red carpets and fancy, expensive parties? If SI was smart, they’d know that a hot model in a bikini and Daisy Dukes out on the street is all the promotion this swimsuit issue really needs. Photos: PacificCoastNews
Justice is served just in time for Christmas Black Woman Wins $600,000 In Discrimination Lawsuit Against Employer A Detroit woman who put her employer on blast in a discrimination lawsuit after being repeatedly overlooked for promotions that were instead given to her significantly less-qualified white co-workers is set to receive $600,000. via MyFox Detroit A Detroit woman will get $600,000 from Greektown Casino but not from winning a jackpot – she won a lawsuit. Diane Harris worked as a beverage supervisor at the casino for ten years. She says she “became family” with her coworkers over time and expected to retire from Greektown. When a manager’s position became available, she applied for the job. For almost six months, she says she stepped in and took on the manager’s duties and interviewed for the job. She figured the promotion was a done deal, until she found out the job went to someone else. “They promoted this younger, female Caucasian employee above my client, and then they made my client train her,” says Ray Guzall, Harris’ attorney. ”The person could not do the job; that person got terminated,” explains Harris. “Then they hired another young, female white employee for the manager position and my client was told to train her as well,” Guzall continues. They say that second manager was also let go, and that neither woman had the level of experience Harris had, and that they were also much younger. In January, Harris filed an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint. In February she was fired for filing the complaint, her attorney says. Harris urges any employee who is being mistreated to speak up. Kudos to this woman for being persistent and not being afraid to confront workplace discrimination. Clap for her.
Got milk? Venezuela is considering going to great lengths to get new moms to breast feed . Via NYDailyNews reports : Venezuela’s Congress will discuss legislation next week that would prohibit bottle feeding of infants to try to encourage breast feeding and reduce the use of baby formula, said a lawmaker of the ruling Socialist Party. Legislator Odalis Monzon said the proposal would “prohibit all types of baby bottles” as a way to improve children’s health. “We want to increase the love (between mother and child) because this has been lost as a result of these transnational companies selling formula,” Monzon said on state television on Thursday. She said the Law for the Promotion and Support for Breast-Feeding, passed in 2007, did not establish any sanctions for using formula. However, she did not say what the sanctions might be if the proposed change to prohibit bottle feeding is passed by Congress, where the Socialist Party has a majority. Monzon said, however, that exceptions would be allowed, such as in the case of the death of a mother, or for women with limited breast milk production, as determined by the health ministry. She did not respond to phone calls seeking details, including how long babies would be breast-fed. Such legislation would likely raise the ire of opposition sympathizers who say the government of the late President Hugo Chavez excessively extended the reach of the state into the lives of private citizens. “People are free to feed their children as they see fit,” said Ingrid Rivero, a 27-year-old mother in Caracas. “My daughter stopped breast feeding after seven months. What can I do? Force her?” Chavez ally Nicolas Maduro, who was elected in April after his mentor’s death from cancer, has vowed to extend his predecessor’s 14-year self-styled revolution that enjoyed strong support among the country’s poor. These seems a little extreme. Can’t they just tax the baby bottles or something to promote breastfeeding? Shutterstock
