It was founded by Manish Chandra , Tracy Sun , Gautam Golwala , and Chetan Pungaliya in 2011. The marketplace sellers collectively garnered $1 billion since the company was founded. The company is valued at nearly $600 million. Chandra—who serves as the company’s CEO—says that he believes Williams can take the brand to the next level. “What triggered my initial interest [in Williams], is there are very few people who have that focus on excellence. What we are trying to build is a very diverse, independent board, people who can guide us to the next level of growth,” said Chandra in a statement. “Seeing she had the right experience, and the passion for fashion, that’s the way we looked at it.” He also added that the platform was developed by a team of strong women like Williams. The tennis star is beyond excited to join the Poshmark team. She said she’s been shopping on the platform for years. “I’m really excited to join Poshmark because it really speaks to my core values,” said Williams in a statement, according to Ad Week . “They really believe in so many different aspects of my life that I am not only living but I’m also preaching.” Williams is using Poshmark as an avenue for social good. She recently built her own closet on the platform and the proceeds from purchased items will go to the Yetunde Price Resource Center; an organization that she founded in memory of her sister who was fatally shot in Compton in 2003. The organization provides resources and programs for victims of direct or indirect senseless violence. Coupled Up Or Nah? Serena Williams And Common Spotted Getting Cozy In Compton

Common And Serena Spotted Together In Compton Serena and Common are sure are spending a lot of time in each other’s faces for two exes who swear they’re not back together… After being caught creepin’ in the back rooms of NYC restaurants , Common and Serena were caught coupled up once again — this time on Serena’s home turf of Compton at a charity event. Via TMZ : An eyewitness tells us Serena and the rapper/actor were in a back room chatting before she spoke to the audience at the grand opening of the Yetunde Price Resource Center — for people affected by violence. We’re told the exes were careful to avoid taking pics together, but individually each got a photo with Compton’s mayor, Aja Brown. They left in separate cars after the event. Hmmmm…hey some exes are seriously just that good of friends. We just don’t happen to know any of them. Splash/WENN

“Hell Freezes Over” at Westboro Protest

Plans by the notorious Westboro Baptist Church to protest the Resource Center Dallas, a northern Texas nonprofit that offers a variety of programs to LGBT and HIV-positive people, on July 9 have been turned into a fund-raiser. The center has launched an initiative called “Hell Freezes Over” and is asking local residents to donate an amount of money for each minute the protesters plan to picket both the center and Beth El Binah, a mainstream Jewish congregation with a longtime LGBT outreach that meets at the center. The center plans to use funds raised to buy a new ice machine for its meals program, which serves lunches to HIV-positive clients every weekday. “The protesters have been known to abandon their protests when they’re turned into a fund-raiser,” says Bret Camp, associate executive director for the center’s health and medical services. “Whether the church shows up or not, this is a way for the North Texas community to stand with us against hate and help us with a timely need.” added by: TimALoftis
