He was the Chicago Bulls’ No. 1 draft pick in 1999 and over the course of his career suited up for teams that included the LA Clippers, the Dallas Mavericks, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Philadelphia 76ers. Brand is excited about leading his former team and hopes to transform the Sixers into a leading contender in the Eastern Conference through his guidance. “The 76ers are on the cusp of something very special and the next 12 months are really important. I think that’s why I was the leading candidate, to bring stability to the organization and this group that I know really well,” he said in a statement. The Sixers are excited about bringing Brand to the front office. Josh Harris , owner of the Sixers, says that Brand will be influential in bringing in new talent. “I think we’re at a new point in our team’s development into hopefully an NBA championship,” he said. “We need to be attracting talent here. Certainly, Elton’s image and who he is as a person were real positives. But leadership and managerial skills and the things you’ve got to do in the front office that aren’t just about image, he’s got those, too. But certainly, that was a huge positive.” According to Black Enterprise , Brand’s appointment comes shortly after Maurice A. Stinnett made history as the first Black man to become a diversity and inclusion vice president for an NBA team. For a few moments, it was the best feel-good story in sports until Mikal was shipped across America to the Phoenix Suns in a heart-stopping plot twist that stunned us all. Tragic, we know, but that didn’t stop Twitter from drooling over his heart eye-worthy mother who won the whole entire Draft. Joel Embiid: Rihanna Won’t Date Me Til I Make the All-Star Team!

Voting for this year’s NBA All-Star Game is now open, and as always, different fans are using different criteria to craft their ideal roster. Obviously, talent is a major factor. Of course, some folks value on-court leadership ability, while others seek to reward players who have demonstrated admirable character. But Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is hoping fans will consider an oft-overlooked asset when checking his name on their ballots: Desire to bang Rihanna. Yes, Embiid claims his DBR is through the roof, and for that reason, fans should vote for him to represent the Eastern Conference in New Orleans. Allow us to explain: It seems that when Embiid was drafter by the Sixers, he was under the impression that famous women would begin beating down his door. He was wrong, and not just because he plays for the Sixers. You see, when it comes to his interactions with the fairer sex, Embiid has a deficiency of what the kids call “game.” He pursued Kim Kardashian for a while, seemingly undeterred by the fact that she’s married. From there, he moved on to Rihanna, whom he’s been openly courting on social media, much to the chagrin of everyone who reads his tweets and feels deeply embarrassed for the dude. Now, Embiid wants you to help him realize his dream of smoking a post-coital blunt with his Barbadian goddess: “This is the truth,” Embiid tweeted yesterday. “I was trying to get with this famous girl and she said  ‘Come back when you’re a All Star’  bruhh.” Bruhh, indeed. Now here’s how you can help Joel get all up under RiRi’s unbrella: “There is my chance to finally be with my CRUSH so i need your help y’all ha….. Joel Embiid #NBAVote” View Slideshow: 39 Ridiculously Racy Rihanna Photos Dude signed his own tweet. That’s how you know he ain’t playin’. As you probably noticed, Joel never mentioned Rihanna by name, but considering he’s been hollering at her for the past year and she recently broke down and followed him back, we think it’s a safe bet he’s still got his eye on Drake’s ex . Either that, or homey is way too fickle about his celebrity crushes.

“Whose Mans Is This?..” Russell Westbrook Was Ready To Deliver The Fade To Philly Fan

The City of NO Brotherly Love There was a lot going on in Philly last night. First the Sixers Euro-step Sevyn Streeters  National Anthem performance, then during the game a Philly fan steps to Russell Westbrook ready to throw hands. Russ looks like he’s ready to hand deliver the fade to the clearly drunk fan but instead  hits him with his signature “Whose mans is this?” face. The WHOLE Thunder starting 5 rushes over to his defense and the man realizes he doesn’t want any problems and swiftly takes a seat.

Suit And Tie: Ex NBA Baller Allen Iverson Says He’d Like To Be An NBA Executive

Allen Iverson Wants To Work As An Executive For The Philadelphia 76ers Lord knows he could probably use the money… Via Philly.com Despite playing for three other franchises throughout his 14-year NBA career, Allen Iverson fondly refers to himself as a ‘Sixer for life.’ Now, with his number hanging from the Wells Fargo Center rafters and his playing days clearly behind him, ‘The Answer’ wants to continue his affiliation with the franchise that made him the first overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. Appearing in the broadcast booth with Marc Zumoff and Malik Allen on Wednesday night, Iverson revealed that he would like to join the Sixers front office. “I have a relationship with these fans like no other. And with this city and with this organization,” Iverson explained of his ties to Philadelphia. “Anything I can do to help, I’m here.” The conversation then turned to Iverson’s post-retirement plans, and if he would like to remain around the game, potentially in a front office capacity. “I would like to be even in that war room,” Iverson replied. “Even if they don’t go with my decision or whatever, just to have an opinion and putting out what I think and trusting the organization to do what’s right.” In all seriousness, if anyone is qualified to give their opinion on basketball players it’s A.I. Can’t think of another NBA player with as much heart as him. He deserves a job within the game. Image via AP
