He Got Time Today, Cuz: Mogul Murderer Jimmy Henchmen Hit With Second Life Sentence

James “Jimmy Henchmen” Rosemond Gets Second Life Sentence For Murder Conspiracy No need for calendar… Via NYPost A Manhattan federal judge on Tuesday sentenced James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond — already serving a life sentence for running a drug empire — to a second life term in prison for his December conviction as mastermind of the 2009 Bronx murder of Bloods street gang member Lowell Fletcher. Judge Colleen McMahon called Rosemond’s crimes “heinous” but lamented to the 50-year-old that “there’s nothing I can do to alter your fate.” Rosemond — who declined to address McMahon before being sentenced — targeted Fletcher for his affiliation with the rap group G-Unit, with which Rosemond had been feuding. Rosemond wanted someone to pay for his teen son being slapped by G-Unit co-founder Tony Yayo in 2007, authorities said. The attack on Rosemond’s then-14-year-old son occurred after Yayo, fellow co-founder 50 Cent and others in the G-Unit crew spotted him in Manhattan wearing a shirt that advertised his father’s rival music management company, Czar Entertainment, police sources said. Yayo, whose real name is Marvin Bernard, was harassing the kid at the direction of 50 Cent, allegedly showing a gun tucked into his waistband. He then pushed the kid up against a wall, started asking him why he was wearing the shirt and smacked him. Just another day for Jimmy. Image via AP

Suit And Tie: Ex NBA Baller Allen Iverson Says He’d Like To Be An NBA Executive

Allen Iverson Wants To Work As An Executive For The Philadelphia 76ers Lord knows he could probably use the money… Via Philly.com Despite playing for three other franchises throughout his 14-year NBA career, Allen Iverson fondly refers to himself as a ‘Sixer for life.’ Now, with his number hanging from the Wells Fargo Center rafters and his playing days clearly behind him, ‘The Answer’ wants to continue his affiliation with the franchise that made him the first overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. Appearing in the broadcast booth with Marc Zumoff and Malik Allen on Wednesday night, Iverson revealed that he would like to join the Sixers front office. “I have a relationship with these fans like no other. And with this city and with this organization,” Iverson explained of his ties to Philadelphia. “Anything I can do to help, I’m here.” The conversation then turned to Iverson’s post-retirement plans, and if he would like to remain around the game, potentially in a front office capacity. “I would like to be even in that war room,” Iverson replied. “Even if they don’t go with my decision or whatever, just to have an opinion and putting out what I think and trusting the organization to do what’s right.” In all seriousness, if anyone is qualified to give their opinion on basketball players it’s A.I. Can’t think of another NBA player with as much heart as him. He deserves a job within the game. Image via AP

Kim Kardashian Bashes Adrienne Bailon, Tells Ex-Friend to “LetItGooooo”

It’s no Justin Bieber-Orlando Bloom feud. But Kim Kardashian has something to say to Adrienne Bailon. The singer tells the new issue of Latina that her career was “hurt” by her affiliation with the Kardashians many years ago, back when she was dating Rob and often appearing on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Bailon also goes off on her ex for “strategically” making plans to cheat on her in 2009. In response, Kardashian took to Twitter and called Bailon out for her hypocrisy, writing online: “Funny how she says being with a Kardashian hurt her career yet the only reason she has this article is bc she is talking about a Kardashian.” That actually is a fair point. But Kim is the same person who complains one moment about her privacy being invaded and then shares pictures of herself in a bikini the next moment. So… yeah. Pot. Kettle. Black. All that. Kardashian also quoted a famous Disney character in her Twitter retort to Bailon. #LetItGoooooLetItGoooooo (FROZEN VOICE),” North’s mom wrote. “So sad when people try to kick my brother when he is down #FamilyForever.” Kim, of course, is referencing Rob’s ongoing troubles, which many believe stem from his significant weight gain and which led to him actually ditch Kim’s wedding to Kanye West . So props to Kim for standing up for her brother anyway. We guess. But let’s be honest: an intern probably wrote those Tweets. 13 Krazy Kim Kardashian Quotes [Taking selfies] is the purpose of life. Drake’s Deal With The Weeknd ‘Being Worked Out’

‘What counts to me is the fact that the affiliation is so known,’ Drizzy tells MTV News of fellow Toronto artist. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Drake Photo: MTV News The Weeknd has a ton of fans, but Drake may be the biggest fan of them all. Of course, there is some bias: Drizzy embraced the Toronto singer last year and has since worked with him on fan favorites like “Crew Love,” “The Ride” and “The Zone.” The two have even brought their respective OVO and XO cliques together to form OVOXO. So what’s the real deal with Drake and the Weeknd? “As far as on paper, it’s all being worked out, but that’s not really what counts anyway. What counts to me is the fact that the affiliation is so known, and that’s all I really care about,” Drake told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway during his May 17 tour stop in Houston . The Young Money star didn’t shed much light on the Weeknd’s career, but then again, since the release of his breakout mixtape House of Balloons last year, the singer has been shrouded in mystery. Though he performed at Coachella last month and embarked on his own solo tour, the Weeknd has yet to give a definitive interview or released very many music videos. Still, Drake recognizes the magic they create together and whether or not he actually signs his Toronto running mate, he insists there will always be a union of some sort. “I want to continue being involved in his career and vice versa and keep making music together, because you take songs like ‘Crew Love’ and ‘The Zone,’ that’s what people wait all night to hear,” he said. Drizzy welcomed the “Wicked Games” vocalist onstage to perform with him during his Concord, California, stop in the Bay Area at the beginning of May. “If you want to talk about evolution — a quick evolution — that’s definitely somebody who, everywhere I go, they love him,” he said. “They’re that loud every single night when I say the Weeknd’s name and when he came out at the show in the Bay, it was crazy. “We’re definitely a family,” Drake added. “It’s definitely a Toronto thing. That’s not changing at all.” Where should the Weeknd sign? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Drake The Weeknd

Spoiler Alert: Captain America Survives The Avengers, Will Return for Captain America 2 in 2014

If you wanted to remain completely spoiler-free going into this summer’s modest little art pic The Avengers , too bad! Disney has gone ahead and ruined the surprise. So, fine. Captain America apparently does not perish at the end of The Avengers , but will indeed live on to deal with his personal issues in Captain America 2 , due to hit theaters on April 14, 2014. Find the official word and a new image after the jump. I kid. Of course Captain America lives through The Avengers ! How else will he and the rest of his teammates cash in on the endless stream of superhero sequels to follow? From Disney: “The Walt Disney Studios has announced a release date for Marvel Studios’ sequel to the blockbuster Captain America: The First Avenger on April 4, 2014. The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel’s The Avengers (May 4, 2012) leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.” I mean, if it gives us more Chris Evans crouching in tight leather getups, let the sequels never end.

WaPo, Editorially a Proponent of Church/State Separation, Worries About Too Few Muslim Chaplains in Va. Prisons

Those familiar with the Washington Post know that the paper is a staunch defender of a very liberal vision of the separation of church and state. For example, the paper’s editorial board was heavily critical of the Supreme Court’s Mojave cross ruling. But when it comes to the supposed dearth of Muslim chaplains at Virginia prisons, Sunday’s Metro section went into full hand-wringing mode. “Inadequate Funds for Chaplains,” complained a subheader for the page B1 story by staffer Kevin Sieff. “In Va., most money goes to Protestant clergy,” another subheadline for the story “Support limited for Muslims in prison”* lamented. Of course, it wasn’t until paragraph 27 that Sieff noted that “[n]either Catholic nor Jewish chaplains have sought funding from corrections officials.” As Sieff explained early in his article, “a 200-year-old interpretation of the state constitution… bars Virginia from doing any faith-based hiring” and “is the only state where prison chaplains are contractors, not state employees.” Sure, “Muslim chaplains could visit correctional facilities to minister to Virginia’s 32,000 inmates,” Sieff explained, “but they received no funds from the state” until a $25,000 grant was given to Muslim Chaplain Services of Virginia last July. “The department [of corrections] has been living in the past. No other state in the country is so far behind the curve,” Sieff quoted the lament of one Larry Coleman of the American Correctional Chaplains Association. Yet nowhere in his 43-paragraph article did Sieff quote a defender of the Old Dominion’s approach to prison chaplaincies. What’s more, Sieff presented Virginia policy as an unwitting accomplice in homegrown terrorism. “In the absence of qualified Muslim religious service providers, inmates can become attracted to radical views and the politico-religious messages coming from other inmates,” Sieff quoted from a study by terrorism experts at George Washington University and the University of Virginia.  Of course, volunteer Muslim chaplains who are not on the state payroll may have more credibility as a moderating influence on Muslim inmates than those who may be seen as government stooges by virtue of their affiliation with the state, but Sieff failed to find anyone who would argue that point.  *The online version’s headline is slightly different, “Limited  spiritual support in Virginia prisons as number of Muslim inmates grows”

Eclipse Breaks Box Office Record for Midnight Showings

Eclipse is the best Twilight Saga film to date. Perhaps this helped the movie set a box office record early this morning, but we have a feeling it would have done quite well even without THG’s glowing review . The third film in this franchise broke the second film’s record haul for midnight showings today, as Eclipse pulled in a whopping $30 million across 4,416 screens nationwide. That figure also marks the widest release of all-time, bumping Iron Man 2 down a notch. New Moon grossed close to $300 domestically during its run, while the original Twlight topped out at $193 million. Expect Eclipse to sky-rocket past both those numbers. Just how huge has the Twilight Saga become? In an incident both depressing and hilarious, Elena Kagan was asked about t during her Supreme Court confirmation hearings today. As you can see below, she refrained from commenting on her affiliation with Team Jacob or Team Edward. Elena Kagan on Eclipse
