Source: Nattapool / Getty Apparently America isn’t the only place where racist are getting called out on their ish. A public health campaign in Auckland, New Zealand has been criticised for promoting casual racism after Labour MP Tamati Coffey posted it on Facebook. Some parents claim that the white girl in the campaign is only insinuating that the little boy will pee in the pool just because he’s Black. One concerned mom responded: “I am an older female of European descent and I don’t like the sign. I very much doubt a little girl would running around saying this kind of thing to other kids.” Another added: “It’s funny at first glance. But then you realise the racial profiling. And it’s not funny anymore. We are so conditioned to subtle racism, that we just laugh and say nothing.” But the complaints were sure ’nuff heard. Auckland Council general manager of parks sports and recreation, Mace Ward, released a statement saying, “This particular sign was part of a series and it was not our intent to upset anyone. The campaign was created in response to potential public health issues and as a result we’ve have fewer pool shutdowns and less risk to human health. We’re removing our signs from our leisure centres and will take a look at the whole campaign.” Thoughts?

He was the Chicago Bulls’ No. 1 draft pick in 1999 and over the course of his career suited up for teams that included the LA Clippers, the Dallas Mavericks, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Philadelphia 76ers. Brand is excited about leading his former team and hopes to transform the Sixers into a leading contender in the Eastern Conference through his guidance. “The 76ers are on the cusp of something very special and the next 12 months are really important. I think that’s why I was the leading candidate, to bring stability to the organization and this group that I know really well,” he said in a statement. The Sixers are excited about bringing Brand to the front office. Josh Harris , owner of the Sixers, says that Brand will be influential in bringing in new talent. “I think we’re at a new point in our team’s development into hopefully an NBA championship,” he said. “We need to be attracting talent here. Certainly, Elton’s image and who he is as a person were real positives. But leadership and managerial skills and the things you’ve got to do in the front office that aren’t just about image, he’s got those, too. But certainly, that was a huge positive.” According to Black Enterprise , Brand’s appointment comes shortly after Maurice A. Stinnett made history as the first Black man to become a diversity and inclusion vice president for an NBA team. AE Pictures Inc/Getty Images CEO’s Florida Vacation Marred By Racism This is horrible. Frank Davis, who is the president and CEO of the Horizon Group experienced some pretty awful racism while staying at the Art Ovation Hotel in Sarasota with his family. Davis and his son Michael left the hotel to have breakfast and go shopping and returned to the room to find the hateful note left inside a lamp next to the bed, ABC News affiliate WWSB reported. “You’re a n—-r,” the note read. “This is something in 2018 you don’t expect this kind of thing to happen,” he told WWSB. Davis reported the note to the hotel’s general manager and filed a report with local police. Art Ovation offered the Davises a free night’s stay but they opted to leave the property because they feared for their lives. “Who knows what other kind of actions that individual who clearly knew we were there was capable of,” Davis said. “Which is why we decided to relocate and find additional lodging for the remainder of our stay.” Art Ovation general manager Matthew Simone issued an apology to the Davis family and added that “allegations such as this are very concerning to us.” The hotel is investigating the incident. This is just crazy. What kind of person does something like this? Would you have changed hotels too?

You might know Brie Bella from Total Divas or from WWE or you might not know her at all. It happens. But you’re going to want to see her absolutely incredible post-baby body. Suffice it to say that most people don’t have this kind of figure ever in their lives. The Bella Twins are pretty darn famous within the world of professional wrestling. They’re a wrestling tag team, made up of Brie Bella and Nikki Bella. What’s more, Nikki Bella is in a relationship with wrestling superstar, actor, and living meme John Cena. (In fact, fans saw Nikki and John Cena’s Wrestlemania proposal just last year) Brie Bella, in the mean time, is married to Daniel Bryan (real name Bryan Lloyd Danielson), who’s retired from wrestling but is currently the on-screen General Manager of SmackDown Live . Nine months ago, Brie Bella gave birth to her child with Daniel Bryan. The sweet baby girl, named Birdie Joe Danielson, is absolutely adorable and photogenic. (In fact, as you’ll see in some photos below, Birdie almost looks like a Pixar creation rather than a Brie and Brian creation — and to be clear, we mean that in a she-looks-too-cute-to-be-real way) We’ve seen a few celebrity moms lose their baby weight almost immediately. But most people aren’t Kim Kardashian. Most are, you know, humans. We’ve recently seen Katherine Heigl’s weight-loss journey after giving birth for the first time, and though she looks incredible, her 14-month journey to getting back into acting shape is a more realistic time frame. So look at how Brie Bella looks, nine months after giving birth: She. Looks. Stunning. Not only do her abs look rock-hard while her entire figure looks trim … (Though that is certainly the case) … But Brie had another hurdle to cross as she recovered from Birdie’s birth. Her sweet daughter entered this world via emergency C-Section in May of 2017. For months, doctor’s orders prevented Brie from exercising as she is accustomed to doing. Her road to recovery was longer than most. (Take a look at this mother and daughter — aren’t they the cutest?!) Fans commented under the pic of Brie Bella’s incredible post-baby bod. “Beautiful picture!!” Very true. “Thank You for being real.” Not everyone shows their journey like this, but Brie’s opened up about how she felt out of shape in the first few months after delivery. “Thanku for showing the struggle of real post baby body. We don’t all snap back the day after delivery. U r looking fab!” Such a nice message. “Isn’t it amazing what the female body can do,” There are people who would criticize Brie Bella for sharing this image at all — because not everyone regains their pre-baby body. Ever. Hips are rearranged, hormones change how fat is stored. Sometimes hair color even changes (weird, I know). But honestly, telling Brie to cover up is just another form of body-shaming, and that’s not acceptable. She’s free to show as much or little of her body as she sees fit, whether it’s to showcase weight loss or admit how long it took her to get back to where she had been. Good for her. Getty Images Steph Curry Signed A 5-Year Extension With The Warriors For $201 Million Secure the bag alert: Steph Curry is really out here. Curry has become the first player in NBA history to sign a supermax contract, or a contract that crosses the $200M mark: $201 million for a five-year commitment. Golden State general manager Bob Myers said that the Warriors will finalize the contract once the free-agency moratorium ends this Thursday. This is a biiiiig jump for Curry, who’s last deal was a four-year contract for $44 million. He was one free agent this time around that fans and NBA insiders alike had no doubt would stay in his beloved Golden State. Golden State owner Joe Lacob said prior to news of the supermax contract, “I know he wants to be here and we want him here. So I do not anticipate any issues with him staying…We’re going to do whatever it takes to keep Steph here and happy,” and it looks like they did just that. This four-time NBA All-Star ain’t going nowhere. Raise your hand if you’d take $201 million to stay right where you are.
Actor Laurence Fishburne will play Alex Haley in A&E Networks’ reboot of Haley’s classic African-American novel Roots, History Channel’s executive vice president and general manager Dirk Hoogstra…
Looks like somebody didn’t have a happy meal. A man from Pacoima, California is suing McDonald’s for 1.5 million dollars. Why, you might ask? The fast food giant only gave him ONE napkin. Shocking, right? Webster Lucas, who ordered a Quarter Pounder Deluxe at the restaurant, alleges that when he asked for more napkins he was denied. Lucas, who is African-American, claims that racism was a factor. His lawsuit says the restaurant’s Mexican-American manager mumbled something to him sounding like “you people” after he remarked “I should have went to eat at the Jack-in-the-Box because I didn’t come here to argue over napkins. I came here to eat.” Lucas emailed McDonald’s general manager saying he was unable to work because of the “undue mental anguish” and “emotional distress” he was dealing with.
Lifetime has pulled the plug on its longest-running series. The network announced today that Army Wives will not return with new episodes, canceling the drama after seven very successful seasons. A 120-minute retrospective will air some time in 2014. Said Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Lifetime, via statement: “There is no denying how special Army Wives has been to both Lifetime and the television landscape. By taking on a very relevant and timely issue, it has brilliantly captured the challenges our military families endure and the bravery they and their loved ones display while serving our country. “It has been an honor to be the home of Army Wives. We also want to thank Army Wives’ passionate legion of fans and everyone involved with the series: ABC Studios, Mark Gordon and Jeff Melvoin, Tanya Biank, every single cast member, as well as the crew and community of Charleston, South Carolina. Without their dedication, effort and loyalty, Army Wives’ seven wonderful seasons would not have been possible; and for that we are very grateful.” The series received many accolades, during its run, including a pair of Gracie Awards from the Alliance for Women in Media, a Sentinel for Health Award from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism’s Norman Lear Center, as well as an NAACP Image Award, NAMIC Award and Prism Award nominations.
