Source: Solange for Black Planet / Solange for Black Planet There are also lyrics from some of her songs on Black Planet. “I made the pilgrimage back to the pagoda of third ward houston to answer this. When your body is all you have you best take care. When your body is all you have you best take care. For the bad weaves and two ways. I swallowed the light…. Threw my earnings like offerings and prayed it went to something that made her feel good. How much of ourselves do we leave at home and how much do we carry with us forever? But I did not sit in the sun. How much of ourselves do we leave at home and how much do we carry with us forever?” In case you didn’t know Black Planet is still alive well and was acquired by our parent company Radio One in 2008. Should Bossip get a Black Planet page like Solange???

Drake Shaded The Grammys During Acceptance Speech [Video]

Link:

Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty We told y’all the Grammys get no love in certain Hip-Hop circles. Although Drake won a Grammy for Best Rap Song, he used his acceptance speech to shade the organization.  Drizzy actually picked up his hardware (he won for “God’s Plan”) in person, while acts like Jay-Z and Childish Gambino (who won Song of the Year for “This Is America”) were no-shows to the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards. The Toronto rapper sent a message to the kids aspiring to do music, and his peers who make music from the heart, from the stage at the Staples Center. “We play in an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport,” said Drake. “So it’s not the NBA where at the end of the year you’re holding a trophy because you made the right decisions or won the games. This is a business where sometimes it’s up to a bunch of people that might not understand what a mixed race kid from Canada has to say or a fly Spanish girl from New York or anywhere else.” He added, “My point is, you’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero in your hometown. Look, if there’s people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain, in the snow, spending their hard earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows, you don’t need this right here. I promise you, you already won.” Where is the lie? Everyone at the #GRAMMYs is a winner tonight according to @Drake . pic.twitter.com/sQ1NqKXQ7m — CBS (@CBS) February 11, 2019 — Photo Getty

Drake Won A Grammy Then Shaded The Grammys In His Acceptance Speech [VIDEO]

Source: Lester Cohen / Getty Drake had his own moment at the Grammys tonight. After he and producer  Cardo took home the award for Best Rap Song, Drizzy decided to let the audience inside the Staples Center know that it wasn’t all about the award, especially if you’re an artist. He definitely didn’t expect to win the award for Best Rap Song considering he was up against Travis Scott , Cardi B and others for the award. “You’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero in your home town. If there are people who have regular jobs coming out in the rain and the snow coming out to see your show, you don’t need these awards here,” he told the audience before the CBS telecast cut him off. WHEW. Watch the full speech for yourself. It came out earlier this week that Drake along with the likes of  Kendrick Lamar ,  Childish Gambino and others weren’t performing on the telecast, even if they were in the building. The Rewind: ‘Glass’ Comes With A ‘Trigger Warning’

Source: iOne Digital, The Rewind / IOne Digital Video Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise return with another week of your favorite series, Global Grind’s “The Rewind”. Like we always do at this time, we’re giving you your much-needed dose of recap reality. Every week we revisit some of the pop culture trends, movies, viral moments and music from the week before and give our hot takes. Our experts Landon Lavarius and DJ Franchise share their opinions, sprinkle in some facts and then when it’s all over and done with, provide a rating of 1 to 10. We listen to the songs, watch the movies, scour the internet, and do the hard work so you don’t have to. This week, Landon and Franchise will be discussing the M. Night Shyamalan flick, Glass . The film is a sequel to the previous movies,  Unbreakable , which came out in 2000, and Split , which was released in 2016. It stars Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson and of course, James McAvoy, who reprises his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within. Glass hit theaters on January 18, 2019, and was met with mixed reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a mere 36% score while IMDB was more forgiving with a 7 out of 10 rating. Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise got to check out the movie and rate it for themselves. Knowing what you know about how hard these two are to please, what do you think they thought of Glass ? Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise also dig into the new Netflix series, Trigger Warning , hosted by Killer Mike. Trigger Warning hit the Netflix platform on January 18 as well. On the show, the Atlanta native uses various scenarios to confront important social issues and cultural taboos. The first season of the show is six episodes long and has already picked up steam on social media. An episode in which Killer Mike teaches a young grade school student about white privilege quickly went viral just hours after Trigger Warning was available for streaming on Netflix. Killer Mike uses nontraditional approaches to explore the human condition and examine the “what ifs” and “why nots” that limit how people operate in the world. Social media is already fascinated with the show but do you think Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise were feeling it? Our resident critics share their thoughts on the new show and let us know whether or not it’s worth the hype. Find out what they rated these topics and more when you press play on episode 29 of The Rewind up above.

K. Michelle Puts SZA On Blast For “The Weekend” Lyrics

More:

Via | HotNewHipHop The song’s concept got Kimberly in her feelings. K. Michelle  claims to love  SZA  but one of the songs found on  CTRL  has clearly upset her. Solana’s “The Weekend” doesn’t sit right with the Memphis singer. The concept of the song, which acts as a kind of celebration of mistresses, is upsetting to her. Since the Love & Hip Hop star is not one to bite her tongue, K. Michelle gladly vented about the lyrics on social media. READ MORE

Bebe Rexha Bikini of the Day

Bebe Rexha is old….and has been in the industry for over a decade…writing songs for actual celebs… She has been famous in her own skin, with her own name, making her own music for about 45 fucking minutes now….but she’s hopped on the shameless self promotion, tits out in a fancy bikini, riding that celebrity wave even though there’s not much substance to celebrity anymore, it’s all very flimsy and bullshit….posting the slutty selfies she probably used to hate seeing the people who used to sing her songs post…thinking the entire time that they were getting fame and money off her songs…and that she was best suited to perform her own music because she was the talent….pretty much the same story Lady Gaga has…songwriter turned popstar cuz their ugly asses couldn’t get a record deal despite being good enough to write songs for the hot talent of the time… Well, here she is doing bikini selfies, like the youth, riding fame she carved out for herself, but still compelled to post bikini selfies cuz bitches like being jerked off to. Especially when they have fat tits. JOIN THE NEWSLETTER YOU ASSHOLES! The post Bebe Rexha Bikini of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepFather.com .
