Dirty South Teams Up With Axwell, Rudy For ‘Dreams’

Aussie says he hopes to have track ready for Miami Music Week. By Adam Stewart Dirty South Photo: MTV News It’s looking like another big year for Aussie Dirty South (born Dragan Roganovic) as he gears up for what’s certain to be a massive week in Miami. Coming off a huge 2010, highlighted by his club smash “Phazing,” Roganovic is now poised to unleash a Miami monster with good friend and Swedish House Mafia third Axwell . “He was actually just here with me in the studio a few minutes ago,” Roganovic told MTV News. “We’ve been working on our new track along with Rudy called ‘Dreams,’ a really solid big-room track that we’re trying have finished for Miami.” If it indeed makes the cut in time for Miami Music Week, the piano-laden progressive house bomb featuring Rudy’s vocals is poised to be one of Miami’s most-buzzed-about tracks. Having already been featured on several Dirty South and Axwell collaborations including their latest, “Open Your Heart,” and Axwell’s anthemic remix of TV Rock’s “In the Air,” Rudy brings high-flying and euphoric vocals into the mix. “Dreams” comes on the heels of another massive release, “Coming Home” featuring Skylar Grey, a remix commissioned by Diddy himself, which dropped on Beatport just last week and is grabbing massive support from the likes of Pete Tong and others. Dirty South will have a major presence at some of Miami’s biggest shows this week, including his own Star Phazing party Thursday at Mansion and the Surfcomber Closing Party with Axwell on Sunday. He’s also slated to take the stage at Swedish House Mafia’s “Miami Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand,” where he’ll play along with, among many others, his good friend Max Vangeli. Some fans expressed concern the two DJs were feuding, based on some recent tweets. “First gym session in a while, I’m in pain!” Vangeli tweeted. “You mean, you just got back from ‘Pilates For Young Women Class’?” Dirty South wrote back. “It’s funny with Max and I. Most people totally understand that it was just him and I going back and forth, totally joking around,” Roganovic explained with a laugh. “But some people took it seriously and thought were really going at it! But it’s all fun, and we’re good friends. We’re actually getting shirts made up for Miami with the two of us with boxing gloves on!” Related Artists Dirty South Axwell

Taio Cruz Working On ‘Fun, Young Pop’ For Justin Bieber

‘I don’t want to disappoint his fans,’ ‘Dynamite’ singer says. ‘They can be angry little 12-year-olds.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Taio Cruz Photo: Jason Kempin/ Getty Images Justin Bieber ‘s team is enlisting some of the music industry’s biggest stars for his next album. And according to Taio Cruz , working on tracks for the pop star’s next album comes with quite a bit of pressure. “Yes, I am [writing for Justin],” the “Dynamite” singer confirmed to MTV News at Z100’s Jingle Ball on Friday . “I was just recently asked to work for Justin Bieber, so that should be good. “Yeah, he is a big deal,” Cruz added. “I don’t want to disappoint his fans — they can be angry little 12-year-olds. He’s fun. He’s young, so we’ll keep it in the right arena; just fun, young pop music.” So how did the collaboration between Cruz and Bieber come to be? Cruz explained, “Sometimes the label or someone or management will ask me to write something specifically and they’ll give me a few topics, a few things to focus on, and then we come up with ideas.” Not much is known about Bieber’s next album, but Justin did share with MTV News in September that it would “probably [come out] fourth quarter next year.” ” Drake is gonna be on that album ; I’m not sure [who else]. I’m gonna ask him if he can get [Lil] Wayne on there,” Bieber revealed. Aside from writing for Bieber, Cruz said that in 2011 he hopes to have a few more radio hits of his own after an impressive 2010. “I would say next year, just more good songs. Hopefully the fans (and new fans) enjoy the music as much as they are currently,” he said. “I’ve been working with so many amazing people — David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia — and producing more stuff myself, as well. I’ve got some really, really good songs in the bag.” What do you think of Justin Bieber/ Taio Cruz collaboration will sound like? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Justin Bieber Taio Cruz

David Guetta Featured On Akon’s Upcoming Album

‘He’s an incredible producer,’ ‘Kon says of Guetta, set to perform at this year’s Winter Music Conference in Miami. By Akshay Bhansali Akon Photo: MTV News For the past two years, David Guetta has been on a house music DJ/producer’s dream run. He has had commercial success doing what few of his colleagues in the electronic world have been able to do: He’s making club music that has American urban artists biting at his heels, has soared into the U.S. charts with a series of monster singles and, after being nominated in three categories, he walked away with the Grammy for Best Remixed Recording for his single “When Love Takes Over,” featuring Kelly Rowland. One of his most lasting accomplishments was last year’s Black Eyed Peas single “I Gotta Feeling,” a track he produced that spent 14 weeks at the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100, selling over 5 million downloads through February of this year. In addition to Rowland, his album One Love featured notable singles with Estelle (“One Love”) and Kid Cudi (the internationally charting “Memories”). And then there is his most successful single as a solo artist, “Sexy Chick” featuring Akon , which peaked in December of last year at #5 and now, months later, is still perched at #20 on the Hot 100 list. MTV News had chance to catch up with Akon recently on the set of Quincy Jones’ video for his forthcoming album single, “Strawberry Letter 23,” where he broke down a bit of Guetta’s genius for us. “He’s an incredible DJ, first of all,” ‘Kon said. “Second, he’s an incredible producer. He’s the kind of guy that goes outside the box, so we spoke the same language on the production side of things. We just wanted to do something that no one had thought to put together and before you know it, man, we just got together and came up with the most incredible record.” Lately rumors have been swirling that Guetta has produced a song for Rihanna, and that he also recorded with one of Akon’s artists, Lady Gaga, but that turned out to have been just a meeting of mutual appreciation. Still, ‘Kon did reveal to expect another treat courtesy of the “Sexy Chick” pair on his forthcoming album, Stadium. “I got some incredible collaborations,” Akon said. “I just can’t let you know yet. But I can give you a hint: Guetta will be a part of that record as well. It’s gonna be … just wait. I don’t want to overhype it. I just want to put it out and let you see.” If you can’t wait that long, Guetta will be headlining the Ultra Music Fest at the Winter Music Conference in Miami . Also featured at the fest will be Will.I.Am, Deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia, Major Lazer, Calvin Harris, LMFAO, Tiesto, A-Trak and many more. Stick with MTV News for more coverage of the Winter Music Conference, which kicks off Tuesday in Miami. Related Artists David Guetta Akon
