Ariana Grande Calls "Literal Bullsh-t" on Mac Miller Grammy Loss

Ariana Grande did not attend the 2019 Grammy Awards . As previously detailed, the popular pop star got into a beef with producers over her planned performance, eventually canceling it altogether and skipping the ceremony completely. But while Grande wasn’t in attendance on Sunday night, she clearly tuned in to the event at home. And, boy, was she angry about it! Grande live-Tweeted a significant portion of the telecast. After winning Best Pop Vocal Album for “Sweetener,” for example, Ariana wrote: “I know I’m not there tonight (trust, I tried and still truly wished it had worked out tbh) and I know I said I try not to put too much weight into these things, but f-ck. “This is wild and beautiful. Thank you so much.” She also thanked her collaborators and professional partners, as you can see below: However, Grande’s good mood didn’t last. When it came to the Best Rap Album category, Grande expressed her extreme frustration at Cardi B taking home the top prize over her late ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller. Especially because the Recording Academy had invited Miller’s grieving parents to attend the show. “Trash. F-ck. Bullsh-t. Literal bullsh-t,” Grande Tweeted in response to this result, quickly clarifying that she did not mean to throw any shade at Cardi B: “Nothing to do w her. good for her. i promise. i’m sorry,” she wrote. The singer went on to explain that she was upset on behalf of Miller’s family, who flew out to Los Angeles specifically for the Grammys. “Y’all invited Mac’s parents out and you didn’t give him an award are y’all DUMB? @RecordingAcademy,” a fan tweeted, to which Grande replied: “This. this is what i meant. karen was gonna have a green suit made.” Grande eventually deleted all Tweets related to Miller’s loss. Miller tragically passed away from a drug overdose in September of 2018. He and Grande dated for about two years and only broke up a few months before he died. For whatever it’s worth, Miller  was  honored during the In Memoriam segment of the show.  Last Thursday, meanwhile, Grande blased Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich for saying that Ariana couldn’t perform at the event because she didn’t have time to “pull together” a set. Sources have said Ariana was actually pissed that producers told her NOT to sing the track “7 Rings” due to some plagirism rumors surrounding the hit. “I’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me,” Grande fired back on Twitter, adding: “I can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken. “it was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.” She added: “I offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. “it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me.”

The actor and his collaborators Julie Delpy and Richard Linklater could be coming back: “Well, I don’t know what we’re going to do but I know the three of us have been talking a lot in the last six months. All of three of us have been having similar feelings that we’re ready to revisit those characters. There’s nine years between the first two movies and, if we made the film next summer, it would be nine years again so we’re really started thinking that would be a good thing to do. Touring With Alicia Keys Inspired Melanie Fiona’s “The MF Life” Sound

Read more:

Melanie Fiona is gearing up to release her sophomore album The MF Life on October 25th. She is determined to prove that she is not a one hit wonder. Melanie is taking her craft very serious.  She recently sat down with Jae Ink for a Q&A for Ammo Magazine. She talks Touring with Alicia Keys and Kanye West, acting and what we can expect from The MF Life . JI: You have a new album coming titled ‘The MF Life’; in an interview you stated the album as being “stadium soul.” Explain what that means. What can fans expect from this album? MF: I fell in love with the sound of my music being played in big arenas when I went on tour with Kanye West & Alicia Keys. I became addicted to that feeling, so I just wanted my music loud and I wanted these songs to be big & I wanted them to be full and feel like they could fill an arena. I’m a big fan of live instrumentation so it was pretty much taking it to another level off the first album and just making this album something big. JI: Who are some of the collaborators on the new album? MF: I haven’t finished what will be on the album yet, but I’ve been in the studio working with Andrew Martin, Los, Jerry Wonder, Salon Remy, Jack Flash, and Chuck Harmony. Its been really good I’ve been getting all my creative juices & getting all my ideas of what I want this album to be about. I’m trying new things & I’m also writing with John Legend. JI: Your first single “Gone and Never Coming Back”, you sing about love lost in a relationship, did this song come from personal experience? MF: Everything I write about, sing about or perform about is always about life. A lot of the things I go through its always what we all go through and I feel like “Gone and Never Coming Back” absolutely comes from personal experience. I’ve had to end chapters in my life, cut people out of my life, say goodbye to people I necessarily wasn’t ready to say goodbye to, had people say goodbye to me and I wasn’t ready to let it go. I feel that is just the real concept of lost & what it means. So I just wanted to put that into a song and make it very emotional something that people can relate to and help them get through whatever it is their going through. Read the full interview HERE . Darren Aronofsky Won’t Direct ‘The Wolverine’

Director cites lengthy production schedule as reason for leaving Hugh Jackman-starring film. By Kara Warner Darren Aronofsky Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images The second “Wolverine” film is quickly becoming as unpredictable and complex as its titular character. It was reported Thursday (March 17) that Oscar-nominated director Darren Aronofsky will not be helming the pic after all. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aronofsky has dropped out due to the film’s lengthy production schedule overseas. “As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of ‘The Wolverine’ would keep me out of the country for almost a year,” Aronofsky said in a joint statement with Fox, the studio releasing the film. “I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won’t be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again,” he said. Aronofsky or no, Fox said it supports the “Black Swan” director’s decision but still plans to move forward and make the film with Jackman firmly attached to those famous adamantium claws. “While we are of course disappointed that Darren can’t do ‘The Wolverine,’ we also understand and respect his reasons. Having done both ‘The Wrestler’ and ‘Black Swan’ with Darren, we know he is an extraordinary talent and we look forward to working with him on other projects in the future. Hugh Jackman and Fox both remain fully committed to making ‘The Wolverine.’ We will regroup and move forward aggressively.” What do you think of Aronofsky’s decision? Tell us in the comments! Missy Elliott Remembers Aaliyah, Nine Years Later

‘I miss her every day,’ late singer’s collaborator tells MTV News. By Jayson Rodriguez Aaliyah in 2000 Photo: Dave Allocca/Getty Images It’s been nine years since Aaliyah Dana Haughton died in a plane crash and left an immense void in the hearts of her family, friends and fans. The singer’s star was still rising when her life was cut short. She released multiplatinum albums and had just started her film career, but there was always a sense that her journey would be a long one, destined for greatness. Traces of her style and influence are apparent in contemporary artists, but her legacy is most evident in her collaborators, including Timbaland, Ginuwine and Missy Elliot. Missy spoke with MTV News via e-mail and shared some of her favorite Aaliyah memories. MTV : When you look around today at some of the current R&B stars, who do you see traces of Aaliyah’s influence in? Missy Elliott : I think it’s hard for Aaliyah to be duplicated, because she had her own lane. But Ciara is an R&B singer who loves to dance, and Aaliyah was that same kinda artist. We knew when she dropped a record, we couldn’t wait for the video. I think Aaliyah has influenced artists like a Ciara. MTV : How do you spend a day like this, where everyone is mourning the anniversary of your friend’s passing? Elliott : I plan to spend my day the same as any other day, because there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of [Aaliyah] or watch a video or play her music. I miss her every day. MTV : Do you know of any update on the plans for an Aaliyah movie? Elliott : As far as a movie for Aaliyah, I’ve been hearing some things but don’t know how true they are, and out of respect for her family, I would wait until they announce it. That way we will know it’s a fact. MTV : I’m sure you have so many memories of Aaliyah. What was it like the first time you met her? Elliott : When me and Tim first went to work with her, we were so nervous. She was such a big star, and I was scared she was gonna be some diva, sipping on tea, with people fixing her hair and nails, and she would say, “What is this music you got! It’s wack!” But when we walked in the studio, her smile made the whole room glow! She was like “Heyyyyy!” and gave us big hugs and made us feel like we were her cousins from down South. She was a very sweet spirit! Never seen her angry as long as I’ve known her, and in this business, that’s unheard of! MTV : What memory do you revisit most when you think about Aaliyah? Elliott : We’ve had so many memorable times. My most memorable is when me, her and Tim wore outfits alike! It was burgundy Pony outfits to the awards. Mind you, Aaliyah was petite so her Pony outfit looked so cute on her, but I kept looking at mine during the awards whispering to her saying, “I feel like a big-ass pony for real!” And we laughed and laughed! Too many memories to state them all! If she was still with us, she would still be at the top. Because she always stayed pushing herself to be better. Share your memories of Aaliyah in the comments. Nelly Set To Drop 5.0 In November

St. Louis star rolling out singles ‘Tippin’ In Da Club,’ ‘Just a Dream’ in advance of his November 16 LP. By Jayson Rodriguez Nelly Photo: Michael Buckner/ Getty Images It’s not a roll-out for another double album, but Nelly is gearing up for the release of his next project via two separate singles: One is the party-friendly “Tippin’ In Da Club” and the other, a more laid-back number, is titled “Just a Dream.” Both songs were recently serviced to radio and will appear on the St. Louis rapper’s forthcoming LP, 5.0, due to arrive November 16. Dropping dual singles is similar to the way Nelly introduced one of his past projects, 2004’s Sweat and Suit. The two albums were released on the same day, but with different themes — one aimed at the club and the other targeted toward the ladies. Of course, 5.0 is just one album, the rapper’s 5th overall and his first since 2008’s Brass Knuckles. Late last year, Nelly told MTV News that he was eager to prove himself after the lukewarm reception to Brass Knuckles. “The thing is, I work best with two strikes, two outs,” Nelly explained in November. “I really think I do. As an artist, you want to wake up every day and feel like you’re doing something people don’t think you can do. Now I feel like I’ve been put in that position again, where it’s more doubt than expectancy. The doubt is what fuels me, so to speak. I’ve been real fortunate where I have great people around me. Everybody wants to freakin’ work with me — not that everybody didn’t [before], but it’s different because I didn’t work with a lot of people. Coming into this situation, it’s beautiful.” Producers Jim Jonsin and Rico Love worked on “Just A Dream,” while Dutch helmed “Tippin In Da Club.” Some of the collaborators slated for 5.0 include Play-N-Skillz, Sean Paul, Plies and Akon. The-Dream Is Mulling An Acting Career, ‘Make Up Bag’ Co-Star Says

Singer is working on a yet-untitled film project, says Jason Weaver, who co-stars in his upcoming ‘Make Up Bag’ video. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Matt Elias The-Dream and Jason Weaver Photo: MTV News The-Dream began hinting at possible retirement in the weeks leading up to the release this spring of Love King, the third project in his trilogy. But now that the collection is out, what exactly will the songwriter do? According to his “Make Up Bag” video co-star, Jason Weaver, the Atlanta singer is set to venture into acting. “The name of the project is tentatively titled “Road to Beaverton,” the actor told MTV News. “Pretty much what this video is, “Make Up Bag,” is the set up for the film.” The yet-unreleased “Make Up Bag” video is set against a 1930s motif and in the clip, The-Dream, Weaver, and T.I. all don pinstripe suits. Weaver and The-Dream didn’t offer any additional details, but the songwriter has said in the past that the grind of a solo career is too much for him to juggle with his duties as production partner to Christoper “Tricky” Stewart. The-Dream and Stewart have an enviable track record, collaborating on hits for Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and Rihanna, among others. And while The-Dream hasn’t formally indicated Love King would be his last word as a solo artist, with a schedule that includes work on T.I.’s upcoming solo project, he’d be as busy tending to the rapper’s career as his own. In the past, he hasn’t seemed to mind the balancing act, going out of his way to praise his collaborators, including the Grand Hustle boss. “Tip is in a zone, man,” The-Dream told MTV News earlier this year. “He’s in one of those things. But me just being a lyric guy, what makes songs, I think, hits is when it comes from the heart and you really are saying something you mean. And you can feel it through the passion. Every record he played me, I was like, ‘Wow.’ I could just feel it.” Are you interested in seeing The-Dream take his talents to Hollywood? Talk about it in the comments! Related Artists The-Dream
