For The Navy: Rihanna Drops New Single Featuring Kanye & Paul McCartney — “FourFiveSeconds” [LISTEN]

New Music: Rihanna Ft. Kanye West & Paul McCartney — “FourFiveSeconds” Rihanna shocked fans on Saturday evening when she casually dropped a new track, featuring Kanye West and Paul McCartney , to her website. The single, “FourFiveSeconds,” Rihanna croons from the perspective someone who flips a swtich when they’re underestimated and under-appreciated over a stripped-down Paul McCartney guitar solo: I think I’ve had enough, I might get a little drunk I say what’s on my mind, I might do a little time Cause all of my kindness, is taken for weakness Later, Kanye raps: Woke up an optimist, sun was shining I’m positive Then I heard you was talkin’ trash Hold me back I’m bout’ to spaz Take a listen: So…hate it or love it??

There was no sincerity in Rush Limbaugh’s apology to Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke, according to the perspective shared by Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) Sunday morning. The “Whitest Oscars” In A While Picks — Have You Seen Any of These Flicks?

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards will be held on February 27, 2011. As usual, Black actors are largely absent from the nominee roll call. How could they be considered for the big W? They aren’t even contenders for significant roles in these films. Traditionally, Oscar picks are selected due to their high artistic value — which is subjectively determined by a group of voters. The dearth of Black actors in film begs many to wonder whether minorities are simply written out ofl events due to the perspective of the writers and directors (usually white men) or purposely excluded from films because their buying dollars aren’t perceived as relevant to the film industry’s gatekeepers (executive producers, who finance flicks). Either way, it’s offensive. Here’s a round up of the movies selected for “Best Picture” and the billion dollar question is … have you seen them?

$27,500 for Daniel Faraday’s Journal, and 4 Other Humongous Overbids at the Lost Auction

As someone who once purchased the Criterion Collection edition of The Rock , it’s hard for me to complain about how people spend their disposable (and geeky) income, but: Man . Bids flew fast and furious at this weekend’s infamous Lost auction , and some — like the $15,000 spent on the pilot script signed by J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof — seemed reasonable. Others, though… well, let’s just say perhaps a bit of buyer’s remorse is happening at this very moment. Ahead, the five biggest overbids from the Lost auction.

Danny McBride Addresses Impostor Twitter Feed, Compares Kenny Powers to Elvis

Sad news for the roughly 115,000 loyal followers of the hilarious Twitter feed written from the perspective of HBO’ s #1 washed-up major leaguer Kenny Powers: The network is in no way associated with @KF*CKINGP, and for the first time, Danny McBride has addressed the convincing impostor (last tweet: “I never had a rookie card because I was never considered a f*cking rookie”) who is ripping off his Eastbound & Down character.

"Fish Dependence Day" Arrives a Month Earlier for European Union & Its Troubled Fish Stocks

Photo via ezioman The title of a new report from the New Economics Foundation says it all: Fish Dependence: The Increasing Reliance of the EU on Fish from Elsewhere . There are very few places left on the planet where fishing is sustainably done, but Europe is showing some real signs that their industry is going too far. Europeans are eating more fish from other parts of the world as their own stocks deplete, and the day of the year that marks “fish depen… Read the full story on TreeHugger

World Cup’s Soccer City Shows Scale of Mining Waste in South Africa

Image credit NASA via Our Amazing Planet All eyes were on Soccer City yesterday as the World Cup played out. However, few eyes were seeing it from above, which is the perspective that reveals the neighboring mountains of waste from gold mines. While Soccer City can hold 97,400 people — a sizable stadium by any standards — it is minuscule compared to the three piles shown in the NASA satellite image above. The big mining companies that make up the gold mining indus… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Each Year, 75,000 Homes Waste As Much Energy As Contained in Entire BP Gulf Spill

Image via Energy Savvy Despite the fact that the BP Gulf spill continues, with no clear end in sight, many have already concerned themselves with the task of putting the event into the perspective of US energy consumption in general. Case in point: this graphic, which points out that the energy wasted by 75,000 homes a year equals the energy contained in the biggest oil spill in US history. … Read the full story on TreeHugger
