Once-In-A-Lifetime Opportunity: TIDAL Announces Million-Dollar Grant Program For Emerging Artists

Today, TIDAL announced TIDAL Unplugged, “an unprecedented million dollar artist grant program dedicated to building emerging artists’ careers,” funded by Mark Lampert (BVF Partners L.P.) & Robert Nelsen (ARCH Venture Partners). While the first go ’round will only accommodate local Detroit artists , TIDAL plans to expand the program into other markets moving forward. So, what are the details? “TIDAL Unplugged will kick off in Detroit, where Lampert’s grandfather started his musical career. Local artists will have the chance to submit their music through TIDAL to receive part of the million dollar grant,” the subscription-based streaming service stated via press release. “The artists chosen will each work with the TIDAL Unplugged team to create a personalized program aimed to cover resources needed to further their musical career. The grant can cover living expenses, equipment, studio time, and more as well as access to expertly guided recording and creative resources. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity allows aspiring musicians to chase their dreams as well as dedicate more time and energy to pursuing a career as an artist.” “Working with TIDAL and utilizing the resources provided, the finalists will develop and finish four songs for distribution. Once the tracks are complete, they will exclusively premiere on TIDAL and receive promotion through its TIDAL Rising program. Artists will maintain 100% ownership of recording masters. As part of TIDAL’s mission to support rising artists with unique opportunities to grow their fan bases, the finalists will perform their songs in a TIDAL Unplugged showcase in November,” TIDAL states. So, how do I apply? “Beginning March 1, 2019 Detroit residents can apply on TIDAL.com/Unplugged ,” the press release goes on to state. “Artists from all genres are encouraged to submit, but music must be performed acapella or acoustically and must not rely heavily on digital elements. The finalists will be announced in May. Following a pilot run in Detroit, TIDAL aims to expand the program into other markets.” “The TIDAL Rising program is incredibly special to everyone at TIDAL – from the interns to the artist-owners — we recognize the power of streaming and the importance of supporting and encouraging emerging musicians,” said Jason Kpana, TIDAL SVP of Artist Relations, in the press release. “Being able to expand  the program to support musicians in an authentic and substantial way is truly an honor.” Get your audition tapes ready…

Mayweather And Pacquiao Already In Talks For A Rematch In 2016 Were you one of the millions of people who claim they were disappointed by the May 2nd showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather? Well, rumor has it that the two are planning to do it all again, for the money fans. Reports are coming in that once Manny has time to repair his bum arm , Floyd will be more than happy to meet him in the ring again, if the cash is looking right. Via Page Six : The rematch is on. Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao made so much money on their recent bout, they want to do it again. The May 2 fight attracted celeb fans from Beyoncé to Drew Barrymore, Michael Jordan to Justin Bieber. Although the fight was a snooze, and Pacquiao is recovering from shoulder surgery, sources say Showtime, HBO, Bob Arum and all the other parties to the record-breaking $600 million event are ready for more. “It’s already being negotiated,” a source told me. Pacquiao needs four months of rehab post-surgery, and three months to train. “The fight will be the first event at the under-construction MGM–AEG Arena set to open next year.” All the parties involved deny talks are under way, but I’m told Pacquiao wants redemption. “He feels he fought with only one arm,” said one insider. Mayweather will do it for the money. It’s like Hollywood. When a movie makes that much profit, there has to be a sequel. While the first fight took more than five years to come together, all the pieces already are in place for the do-over. Welp! Looks like it’s time to get those hotels and flights booked (or set up your GoFundMe pages ) for “Fight of the Century” part 2. Maybe these two can make it more exciting next time…

Pauly D Meets Baby Girl For First Time: It Was Amazing!

After a period of tumult with baby mama Amanda Markert, Pauly D met his baby daughter Amabella, who just turned six months old, for the first time. According to the reality star, holding his little bundle of joy for the first time earlier this month was nerve-wracking, but also unforgettably wonderful. Pauly D Opens Up About Baby “I was nervous if she wasn’t going to like me,” he said. “But the second I saw the baby her eyes just lit up, it’s almost like she knew. It was amazing.” ” I knew she was mine right off the bat too because she looks just like me. She came right over to me and put her arms right up to me. [She] grabbed my hair!” “That’s the first thing she went for. And then she was biting my nose.” “I didn’t know what to expect, and then you know, it’s almost like I knew what to do. I just felt comfortable holding her … all the nervousness went away.” “She has the same big eyes. Same forehead, [and] same mouth.” While the first meeting went great, there’s seemingly still a long way to go with Amanda Markert , with whom he is still engaged in a custody battle. “That’s what we’re working out now,” he said. “I’m going to see [Amabella] as much as I possibly can, but there’s a process because of the way [this] happened” “So it’s in the lawyers’ hands in that way, but in the end I just want to give the baby the best life possible. I want to see her as much as I possibly can.” He’s committed, though: “I travel a lot, but when I’m in Vegas I’m going to have a nursery there, when I’m in Rhode Island I’m going to have a nursery there.” As for the upcoming holiday? “I got a ton of clothes! I’m big on sneakers so I got her a ton of Jordans already to match me. She’s going to be a fresh little girl!”

‘Avatar’ Sequels Planned For December 2014, ’15

Director James Cameron outlines his plan to shoot the sequels together. By Aly Semigran Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington in “Avatar” Photo: 20th Century Fox On James Cameron’s watch, come 2014 and 2015, it will, in fact, be a blue, blue Christmas. The writer/producer/director, who was at the helm of 2009’s Oscar-winning, box-office-record-breaking “Avatar,” told Entertainment Weekly that fans of the big-screen digital breakthrough should expect its subsequent sequels within the next three to four years. “I am in the process of writing the next two ‘Avatar’ films now,” Cameron said. “We are planning to shoot them together and post them together, and we will probably release them not quite back to back, but about a year apart.” Cameron said that the “current plan” is for the follow-ups to hit theaters by “Christmas ’14 and ’15.” While the first “Avatar” took more than four years from inception to screen, Cameron told MTV News back in December 2009, “My next goal is to refine the technique, make it easier so it doesn’t take as long.” “From the time we capture and finish the capture, it’s literally nine to 10 months to get the CG characters working, to get their facial musculature working. … So now we have Jake, we have Neytiri. Sam can step right back into it, the characters will fit them like a glove, and we’ll just go on. So a lot of the start-up torque that had to be done for one movie really makes more sense if you play it out across several films,” Cameron explained. While the 56-year-old did not divulge on too many plot details for the “Avatar” sequels, he did confirm to EW that characters such as Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), should be expected to make a return. “Basically, if you survived the first film, you get to be in the second film, at least in some form,” Cameron said. After hinting that the sequels would take place in Pandora’s ocean, Cameron spoke to MTV News last year about how he would make the new environment come to life. “I think what we should do there is — because we’ll have to have characters that are in and under the water — is that we should actually capture them underwater,” the “Titanic” director said. It may sound incredible, but the latest issue of Life & Style reports it as true: Kourtney Kardashian lost a lot of weight after giving birth to her first child in December. Over 30 pounds, to be exact. But while the first dozen melted away almost instantly, the talentless star has submitted the before-and-after shots below to prove there was still a bulge around her belly soon after Mason Dash entered the world. “I never used to gain weight in my stomach,” Kourtney says. “When I was pregnant, I didn’t really do sit-ups, so I feel my stomach’s the body part that changed the most.” Not counting her bank account, that is. It’s increased ten fold since Kourtney was told by producers to have had a baby.
