George Zimmerman Charged With Second-Degree Murder in Trayvon Martin Case

George Zimmerman will face criminal charges in the death of Trayvon Martin. According to a senior law enforcement quoted by CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC and the Associated Press, the neighborhood watch captain in Sanford, Fla., will be charged criminally in the February 26 case that has captivated the nation. A legal analyst said earlier that the most likely charge would be manslaughter, but it was just announced that Zimmerman faces second-degree murder charges. A press conference announcing the decision took place at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Angela Corey, the special prosecutor appointed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott to look into the incident, stated earlier that she would not take the case to a grand jury . That automatically ruled out first-degree murder as an option, but the second-degree murder charge was still on the table – and ultimately what Corey decided. “I can tell you we absolutely did not come to this decision lightly,” Corey told reporters moments ago. “We do not prosecute by public pressure.” Zimmerman is in custody, Corey confirmed, though she gave no additional details. CNN reports that he surrendered to local officials earlier today. Lawyers for Zimmerman, 28, stepped down from the case Tuesday, saying he’d become uncommunicative and expressing concern for his emotional and physical well-being. “As of the last couple days, he has not returned phone calls, text messages or emails,” Craig Sonner, one of Zimmerman’s former attorneys, said.

Whitney Houston 911 Call: Released, Tragic

The 911 call placed moments after Whitney Houston’s body was found in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel on February 11 has just been released. A member of the hotel security team is the person who made the call, informing the 911 operator about a “46-year-old female found in the bathroom.” The caller says he was alerted to the situation by an “irate” woman who called security from the room, but couldn’t get much information from her. A woman who first dialed security kept hanging up for whatever reason, preventing the dispatcher from giving potentially life-saving instructions faster. Listen to the Whitney Houston 911 call below: Whitney Houston 911 Call “I’m not sure if she fell or if she was in the bathroom with the water,” the hotel security employee says of Whitney Houston, who he never identifies by name. The security team member was under the impression she was not breathing, and the 911 dispatcher sent emergency personnel there immediately. Too late, as it turned out, as the star couldn’t be revived. Whitney’s official cause of death is listed as “accidental drowning,” with foul play ruled out . Heart disease and cocaine use were contributing factors, according to Houston’s autopsy report , and the legendary singer may well have overdosed. The L.A. County Coroner said Whitney’s chronic use of drugs caused a narrowing of her arteries, which resulted in a cardiac event before her death.

Whitney Houston May Have Died From Combination Of Xanax & Alcohol [REPORT]

Excerpt from:

Whitney Houston’s family was told by L.A. County Coroner officials the singer did not die from drowning, but rather from what appears to be a combination of Xanax and other prescription drugs mixed with alcohol, reports TMZ . TMZ also reported that water was found in Whitney’s lungs, but it was not enough water to lead to the conclusion that she drowned. TMZ reports that the family was told Whitney may have died before her head was submerged in water. The site also reported that it was actually Whitney’s aunt, Mary Jones, who discovered Whitney’s body in the bathtub. Initial reports suggested Whitney’s body would be flown back to Atlanta, where she lived for several years with Bobby Brown and daughter Bobbi Kristina, but CNN is now reporting that Whitney’s mother, Cissy Houston, wants Whitney’s body flown to New Jersey, where Whitney was born. Among other testimony, a much-hyped slurred phone recording is played in full. By Gil Kaufman and Kara Warner Dr. Conrad Murray looks on during trial at the Los Angeles Superior Court on October 5 Photo: Getty Images After bringing a succession of Dr. Conrad Murray’s girlfriends to the witness stand, on Wednesday (October 5), prosecutors in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson ‘s personal physician focused on the kinds and amounts of drugs Murray ordered in the months leading up to the pop star’s death at age 50 on June 25, 2009. The most anticipated moment of the day was the promise of the full recording of a slurred-sounding Jackson recorded on Murray’s phone in the weeks before the “Thriller” singer’s death. Prosecutors: Dr. Conrad Murray Has Guilty Conscience!

Dr. Conrad Murray ‘s actions – or lack thereof – were telling, according to the officials tasked with investigating the death of Michael Jackson in 2009. Prosecutors in the physician’s involuntary manslaughter trial want the jury to hear about how authorities tried repeatedly to get in touch with Dr. Conrad Murray to figure out how Michael Jackson died, and how he didn’t cooperate. That, they say, is proof positive of a guilty conscience. Prosecutors say both the LAPD and the L.A. County Coroner tried on at least three separate occasions from June 30-July 21, 2009 to contact Murray about the case. Never once did they receive a call back. By falling off the radar, prosecutors believe it shows a consciousness of guilt – if not a full-scale effort to be less than forthcoming – and they want this evidence before the selected jurors. The judge has yet to rule the motion. The gaping hole in the Michael Jackson death timeline and the judge’s ruling that some previous MJ doctors cannot testify won’t help Murray, either.

Pair of Women to Sue Dr. Phil For Locking Them in House With Naked Dude

Several women are suing TV doctor personality Dr. Phil, claiming he traumatized them by trapping them in a house and forcing them to look at a naked man. Somewhere, Brett Favre is jealous he didn’t think of this. Four years ago, six individuals, including plaintiffs Crystal Matchett and Shirley Dieu , were invited to a house as Phil’s “dinner guests.” Worst. Dinner. Ever. The invitation was part of a Big Brother-esque type episode where these individuals were secured in a ” mock house ” with no contact from the outside world. On the third night, the women opened the door to their “house” to find a naked man. The women then hid in a room and allegedly asked to leave. The TV crew laughed at them and promptly refused. We don’t know what the point of the sequestration or naked dude was, but we look forward to hearing Phil’s explanation for it in response to the lawsuit. When the two ladies originally filed their lawsuits last year, CBS filed an anti-SLAPP motion, arguing that Dr. Phil’s conduct was protected free speech. However, a circuit court denied the motion, asserting that what was shown on Dr. Phil’s show is considered “entertainment,” not of “public interest.” Therefore, it doesn’t qualify for protection under the 1st Amendment. But because the women both signed contracts with the show, an appeals court this morning that they could not sue CBS for negligence. However … They may sue in a lower court, which include fraud, misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. According to a source, this rule demonstrates “a likelihood” that the women will win their case. Oh, guess what, too? It’s YOUR FAULT, PHIL!!
