News now confirms that Rizzoli imprint Universe will come out with a book titled “Selfish” in April 2015 that will sell for $19.95 and be 352 pages worth of Kim Kardadshian selfies. These leaves us with a number of questions: Why only 352 pages? Didn’t Kim recently take 1,200 selfies in Thailand alone? Why would anyone pay money for something they can see for free on the Internet? And, again, WHY WOULD ANYONE BUY THIS? The book was allegedly inspired by greed a collection of Polaroid snapshots Kim gave to Kanye West for Valentine’s Day. But you can just surf the World Wide Web and toggle through as many Kim Kardashian selfies as you want… at no cost! Here, look. Woman Sets Home on Fire in Attempt to Kill Spider

A woman apparently tried to kill a spider by spraying it with aerosol and then lighting it on fire. Ladies and gentlemen, do not recommend trying that at home. Otherwise, you might not have a home. Much like the woman in question. The Wales resident really did attempt this means of offing the eight-legged intruder, despite the fact that flaming chemicals likely pose a greater risk than spiders. A blaze quickly took hold and spread, as fires do, torching the home . On the bright side, we’re assuming that the spider didn’t survive. The encounter led to what has to be some of the more unusual tweets from emergency services, like this one from South Wales fire official Jennie Griffiths: “Crews have just attended a fire in a house Kenfig Hill after the resident sprayed a spider with an aerosol and then set it alight 11:57,” she wrote. All business. Then the local fire chief added on Twitter: “When attempting to remove spiders from properties, please dont use lit aerosols. #SWControl.” Incredibly, this is not even the first spider story of its kind. In July, a Seattle man tried to kill a spider in his laundry room with a lighter and a can of spray paint as a makeshift flamethrower. The fire department came. Also, a California homeowner using a blowtorch to clear cobwebs in his yard ended up doing $25,000 in damage to his house when that brilliance backfired. Just throw a sandal at the thing, people. Code Adorable! I repeat, we have a Code Adorable! Hide the Wii and the juice boxes! The Secret Service dealt with the world’s cutest threat last night when a toddler squeezed through the White House security gates and on to the North Lawn, triggering an automatic lockdown. As a result of this breach, President Obama’s residence went into high alert and Pennsylvania Avenue was closed (per protocol) until the pint-size interloper was apprehended. Edwin Donovan, a spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service, told the media that the unidentified child would not face any serious charges. “We were going to wait until he learned to talk to question him, but in lieu of that he got a timeout and was sent on way with parents,” Donovan said. This is a story you don’t read every day: Boy meets girl in Brazil. Boy and girl bond over having been abandoned by their mothers as children. Boy and girl get married. Boy and girl have a six-year old daughter. The girl, Adriana, then appears on a radio show titled The Time Is Now, which reunites long-lost relatives. It connects Adriana with her mother, Maria, who tells her daughter that she also left a young son behind a long time ago. And it turns out that son was Adriana’s husband, Leandro. So, to summarize: A HUSBAND AND A WIFE WERE MARRIED FOR SEVEN YEARS BEFORE BEING TOLD THEY ARE ACTUALLY BROTHER AND SISTER!!!!! “We thought it was funny that both our mothers had the same name, but it is a common name so we just thought it was a coincidence,” Adriana told The Daily Mail. Wayward Tortoise Detained by Los Angeles Police, Eventually Claimed by Owner

Did you hear the one about the turtle who tried to cross the street… only to get subdued by multiple police officers? This isn’t a joke set-up. It’s an actual question based on an actual story. Over the weekend, authorities in greater Los Angeles came across a wayward tortoise named Clark who tried to “make a run for it,” according to the Alhambra Police Department Facebook page. Fortunately, a couple “pretty fast officers” tracked down the creature and worked together to haul the 150-pound behemoth into a cruiser. They took him to a local animal rescue center, where he was eventually reunited with his owner. For those wondering: yes, keeping giant desert tortoises is illegal without a permit, but law enforcement officials decided not to prosecute Clark’s owners. “We enjoy keeping families together, so an exception was made in this case,” the Alhambra police said in a statement. The tiny single-cell organisms slowly ate away at Taiwanese undergraduate Lian Kao’s sight because she didn’t take out and clean the contacts. Not even once during that time. According to a warning issued by doctors, this is a particularly severe example, but illustrates the importance of proper hygiene use with contact lenses. Ya think?! Amoebas Eating Eyeballs: This Actually Happened! 1. Contact Lenses Are Great, But … They’re a marvelous invention, but without proper use, can leave one vulnerable to eye diseases. Such as … The director of ophthalmology at Taipei’s Wan Fang Hospital, Wu Jian-liang, said contacts users are a “high risk group that can easily be exposed to eye diseases.” How so, you ask? Short answer: Amoebas . Longer answer: “A shortage of oxygen can destroy the surface of the epithelial tissue, creating tiny wounds into which the bacteria can easily infect,” he explains. Once that process starts, he says, it continues rapidly and disastrously, ” spreading to the rest of the eye and providing a perfect breeding ground.” “The girl should have thrown the contact lenses away after a month but instead she overused them and has now permanently damaged her corneas.” Jian-liang said that she had been diagnosed with acanthamoeba keratitis, which is more common in the summer than other seasons, yet typically rare. The condition, experts say, can build up over several years, but by the time it has caused permanently red, irritated eyes, it may be too late to reverse. Can’t a kid just celebrate the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and eat his fries in peace? Apparently not. Not The Tavern at Phipps in Atlanta. Local news reports confirm that a four-year old named Lewis Roberts was recently kicked out of this establishment because he violated its “Gentlemen’s Dress Code” by wearing the following shirt without sleeves. According to 11Alive, the family asked to speak to the manager in order to explain that their son is, you know, four years old. But the manager upheld the hostess’ demand, forcing Lewis and his parents to make their way off the premises. But… WAIT! This story gets even more ridiculous. It would be one (absurd) thing to kick a toddler out for donning a shirt, but here’s an example of attire that is apparently acceptable under this restaurant’s dress code. Altogether now: FOREHEAD SLAP . A spokesperson for The Tavern at Phipps later issued a statement of regret over the incident: “It was an embarrassing misunderstanding on our part. Pilot of Delayed Flight Orders Pizza for Everyone on Board

The pilot of a diverted Frontier Airlines plane is officially The Man. According to a Fox affiliate in Denver, the unnamed captain called a Domino’s in Cheyenne, Wyoming after a flight from Washington to Denver had to make an unplanned stop due to bad weather at its destination. He then ordered pizzas for his crew and all 160 passengers on board. We took them up to the front desk at the airport and they escorted our driver to the back and they handed the pizzas directly to the flight attendants,” says Domino’s manager Andy Ritchie. The plane had been on the runway for two hours when the pilot made his purchase. As one passengers told Fox: “He said, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, Frontier Airlines is known for being one of the cheapest airlines in the US, but your captain is not cheap.
