Swae Lee, Lil Yachty, YFN Lucci, Ian Connor and More Celebrate Slim Jxmmi’s Birthday in Atlanta   Source: Prince Williams / ATL Pics For the last Saturday of 2018, many of Atlanta’s rising stars joined iconic rap duo Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jxmmi for his 27th birthday extravaganza.  The “Great Gatsby” themed event brought out some of the city’s finest, dressed in their best late 20’s attire to party like it’s 1929, old sport! Guests including Lil Yachty, YFN Lucci, Ian Connor, and more showed up and showed out, toasting to Slim Jxmmi with champagne and delicious cocktails compliments of Belaire and Martell cognac.   Source: Prince Williams / ATL Pics The celebration at MikeWillMadIt’s ATL warehouse was a night to remember, equipped with music by  DJ Reese, DJ DIBIA$E and DJ Osh Kosh , soul-fusion inspired hors d’oeuvres by  Keep it Chef NYC , live entertainment including an aerialist, greeter in a champagne glass dress and burlesque dancer in a martini glass. The decor was over-the-top including the infamous stair-scene with pool from the “Great Gatsby” movie, and an all gold room including gold fringe from the ceilings, gold balloons on the floor, a bath tub, shower and more for guests to take a picture provided by  OMG Booth . “Love Is ___” Cancelled By OWN Amid Domestic Violence Allegations Against Co-Creator Salim Akil

Source: Roy Rochlin/Getty Images / Getty “Love Is ____” Axed By Own Network Bad news for fans of the OWN Network breakout hit show “Love Is ___.” After only one season on the air, season 2 of the show has been dropped and will not see the light of day. While the show had many fans and sparked tons of hot online debate, the program became marled in scandal after the alleged mistress of show exec Salim Akil, who co-produced the show with his wife Mara Brock Akil, stepped forward to reveal that she had been sexually and physically abused at the hands of the writer/producer for the better part of the last 10 years. She also alleged that the show itself was a copyright infringement on her original scripts for an unproduced pilot. Akil has not denied having an extramarital relationship with the woman in question, however, his lawyer released a statement stating that the allegations are completely false and they plan to defend him to the fullest extent of the law. On top of that, Warner Brothers has launched an investigation into the Akils’ other show, ‘Black Lightening.” However, that particular program is safe at the moment. SMH. The show will be missed, but this is what happens when those old skeletons of abuse and misconduct fall out of Hollywood’s closets. Are you sad that “Love Is ____” got the chopping block?? TheJasmineBrand.com got the scoop that Brenner once reached out to Rose McGowan on Twitter in regards to seeking help. McGowan is known for bringing the #MeToo movement to a wider audience when she accused Harvey Weinstein of rape. Amber wrote on June 24, 2018: “@rosemcgowan How do traumatized men and women contact your organization? As we reported earlier, Brenner allegedly had a 10 year affair with Love Is and Black Lightning producer Salim Akil, who is married to another TV creator Mara Brock Akil. During their alleged 10-year-relationship, Brenner says Akil would slap and strangle her, and force her to enact oral sex. She says at one point, Akil even urinated in her mouth. She is suing Akil for compensatory damages, emotional distress, attorney fees and punitive damages. Amber also claims the Akils took from an original script she wrote and use the material for Love Is , which airs on the OWN network. She is suing the Akils and OWN in federal court for copyright infringement. Salim has since denied Amber’s allegations through his lawyer, who said, “These allegations are deeply upsetting – but they are also totally untrue. We will defend Salim to the fullest against the false and offensive claims that a woman with whom he had a past relationship has included in multiple unsubstantiated lawsuits.” Neither OWN, nor the CW (where Black Lightning airs) have responded to Amber’s allegations.

S tacey Abrams  has been running for governor of Georgia against Brian Kemp , who is also the secretary of state of Georgia, which means he oversees elections. Kemp was clearly afraid that his racist voter suppression tactics may not seal the deal for him, which is why his latest fear-mongering tactic was so laughable. He exploded on Twitter on Election Day eve that the New Black Panther Party was endorsing Abrams. They are dangerous and encourage violence against our men and women in uniform.” The original Black Panther Party, which was founded by Bobby Seale and the late Huey Newton , officially ended in 1982. In 1989 , a fringe organization called The New Black Panther Party began. It has been denounced by original Black Panthers and the even the NAACP. Kemp was clearly jumping on this “endorsement” from a group that has no political or social relevance in the Black community. Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty Beyoncé launched a copyright infringement lawsuit two years ago against a Texas clothing line that used her name to hawk products. It appears now that both sides are working on a settlement in the matter. The Blast reports : According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Beyoncé is requesting a hearing scheduled for November 1 to be adjourned. The singer explains, “The parties have met and conferred regarding settlement and are currently involved in advanced negotiations that the parties anticipate will resolve this matter shortly.” Beyoncé says she does not expect the case with the owners of Feyonce to go to trial after all. The settlement talks come just weeks after a federal judge shut down the pop superstar by denying her motion for an injunction against Feyonce, in the case that has dragged on for years. The outlet adds that the judge in the matter does not freely accept Beyoncé’s assertion that people buying Feyonce products would be confused by the two brands and assume she has anything to do with endorsing those products. The Feyonce owners say they never once used images of the singer, nor have they attempted to frame themselves as connected to that brand. Source: C Flanigan / Getty The folks behind Marvin Gaye ‘s “Let’s Get It On” are not playing with Ed Sheeran. In 2016, it was reported that the family of  Ed Townsend , the co-writer of the 1973 hit, were suing Ed. They claimed that his song  “Thinking Out Loud” sounded too similar to “Let’s Get It On.” Now, another party is trying to get into Ed’s wallet. According to TMZ , a company called Structured Asset Sales has filed a $100 million lawsuit against Ed, also claiming he ripped off Gaye’s famous song. Structured Asset Sales purchased one-third of “Let’s Get It On” so apparently, there was no way they were letting Ed Townsend’s camp get all the coins. According to their lawsuit, Ed’s song has the same rhythms, harmonies, melodies, bassline, drums, backing chorus, tempo, syncopation and looping as “Let’s Get It On.”   Well damn. Peep the two songs for yourself below if you need a refresher.   This isn’t the first time a Marvin Gaye song has been coming for someone’s coins. Let’s not forget the $7.5 million Pharrell and Robin Thicke were fined with for copyright infringement on Gaye’s “Got To Give It Up.” It seems when music artists go into the studio they should always ask themselves one question. Players will be allowed to stay in the locker room during the national anthem, but their teams will be fined by the league if they go onto the field and kneel. If the NFL thing was about the flag & anthem, you’d be outraged when Trump doesn’t hold a hand over his heart & botches the words. If it was about troops, you’d be as pissed about Niger as about Benghazi. It’s not principle. It’s about control of brown bodies. The same rules don’t apply to you as everyone else.   A federal judge in Manhattan, Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald, ruled that blocking users from viewing Trump’s Twitter account is unconstitutional and a violation of the First Amendment. “While we must recognize, and are sensitive to, the President’s personal First Amendment rights, he cannot exercise those rights in a way that infringes the corresponding First Amendment rights of those who have criticized him,” Buchwald said.   The court decided that all people should have access to the president’s tweets. …probably because, I don’t know, HE’S THE PRESIDENT. A PUBLIC SERVANT.   The whole case was brought about by the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University. They represented seven people who were blocked by Trump. Lawyers argued that the @realDonaldTrump Twitter account is a “public forum” under the First Amendment, and Trump — along with his White House social media director Dan Scavino and then-White House press secretary Sean Spicer — were violating the plaintiffs’ right to petition their government for redress or grievances. So, yea. Sorry, Trump. You can’t be blocking people for coming at you. You’re the president. Act like it.

Anna Duggar: I Hope Jana Stays Single Forever!

If you’re a fan of her in-laws’ media empire, then you’re probably familiar with Anna Duggar as the long-suffering wife of former reality star and known sexual predator Josh Duggar . While some have accused Anna of enabling her husband’s repugnant misconduct, for the most part, she’s as beloved as Josh is hated. Anna is primarily viewed by fans as one of Josh’s many victims. She’s mostly remained silent on her decision to stay with Josh despite his infidelity and numerous sex crimes, but her defenders insist that Anna is left with little choice, as divorce is strictly forbidden in the fundamentalist community in which she lives.  It’s been said that Anna’s family is even stricter than the Duggars with regard to their fringe evangelical beliefs, and many believe that’s another reason the mother of five has stood by her husband. The Duggars appear to have been Anna’s main source of support throughout the scandals of the past several years. And there’s one Duggar daughter in particular with whom Anna seems to have formed a special bond. Anna and Jana Duggar are said to be extremely close, and insiders have reported that recent difficulties have only made their friendship even stronger. Over the past week, several fans in online forums have noted that it’s been exactly one year since Anna made a remark about Jana that garnered a mixed reaction at the time. Jana is still single at 27, a fact that’s considered highly unusual in a family in which girls are taught that procreation is their sole reason for being, and most young women become mothers in their early twenties. As a result of not having any children of her own, Jana has served as an endless source of support to her family, and Anna even went so far as to state that she’s happy her eldest sister-in-law is unattached. “Jana has been such an encouragement and such a rock this past year of my life. She is such a treasure,” Anna remarked on Counting On , adding: “Selfishly, for right now, I’m so thankful that I’ve had her as just a shoulder to cry on. Someone to just laugh with, cry with, pray with. She’s such a treasure.” Yes, Anna indicated that she’s “selfishly” happy that that particular “treasure” is single, and despite several Jana courtship rumors , that’s still the case one year later.
