Drugs Are Bad M’Kay: Bobbi Kristina’s Heroin Dealer/Friend Dies Of Suspected Overdose

Bobbi Kristina Friend Dies, Family Believes He Overdosed After Relapsing On Heroin Sad news… One of Bobbi Kristina’s friends, former roommate and admitted sometimes dealer Steven Stepho has died. According to Radar Online reports : Bobbi Kristina Brown‘s former drug dealer Steven Stepho was found dead of a suspected overdose Monday, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively. A source close to Stepho told Radar that his “family and friends suspect it was a drug overdose,” and that the 22-year-old had a fatal relapse after trying to turn his life around. “He’s been on the path to sobriety for a while — attending AA meetings — but they believe that he fell back into using heroin or with mixing it,” the source said. Radar confirmed Stepho’s death with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office, who have yet to determine the exact cause of death pending results of a toxicology test, expected in about two weeks, as it’s being conducted in a private lab. On a page of Georgia’s Roswell Funeral Home , Stepho’s family said they “would appreciate [if mourners would not] wear black to the Celebration of Life Service, [as] his favorite colors were Blue and White.” Stepho told Radar less than four months ago he’d helped Whitney Houston‘s daughter and her partner Nick Gordon “get [drugs] sometimes, but not regularly.” As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the 22-year-old Stepho has been twice arrested over the past two years in connection with possession of and intent to sell heroin. He was found with 5.8 grams of heroin and arrested in connection with drug trafficking in Oct. 2013, at a time when he had already been on probation. After pleading guilty, Stepho was sentenced to up to a year behind bars and placed on probation for 11 years. In his chat with Radar in March, Stepho claimed that he’d turned over a new leaf when it came to drugs, as he said he had “a great job and a child on the way.” “That part of my life is way in the past,” he said. “I made mistakes and have paid my dues for those mistakes.” Brown, who remains clinging to life in an Atlanta area hospice, had other friends caught up deep in drugs, such as her childhood pal Chelsea Bennett, who fatally overdosed last year; Paige Thompson, who was imprisoned after heroin was found in her home; and Gordon, whose own issues with drugs have been well documented. This is sad. We don’t understand how people start using heroin in the first place considering how lethal it is. Facebook

US Justice Department Rules That Trans Kids Are Allowed To Use Restrooms According To New Gender Identity

Courts Rule Trans Students Allowed To Use Bathrooms For New Gender The LGBTQ community just scored another victory in the courts . Now, transgender students are permitted to use the restrooms corresponding to their new identities, rather than being forced to continue to use the bathroom for their former gender. Via MailOnline : Members of the transgender community and their supporters are celebrating a huge victory in their battle towards equal rights. The U.S. Justice Department announced in a court filing that transgender students must be allowed to use the restroom that corresponds with their gender identity. The department says in a statement of interest filed Monday that failure to do so amounts to sex discrimination under Title IX of the U.S. Education Amendments of 1972. The document was in response to a federal lawsuit filed against the Gloucester County School Board in Virginia by a 16-year-old transgender student who wants to be allowed to use the boys’ restroom at Gloucester High School. The lawsuit says Gavin Grimm used the communal restrooms for two months without incident until the board adopted a policy in December requiring transgender students to use a private facility. The change was made after complaints from some parents. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and an order allowing Grimm to use the boys’ restrooms. ‘It’s very stressful and humiliating,’ Grimm told ABC in an interview last month.’ Do you think this ruling is fair?

Patton Oswalt on Young Adult, Great Chemistry and the Downside of Nostalgia

Patton Oswalt is hardly a screen rookie, having starred in various TV series, films, comedy specials; he’s not even a stranger to awards season, having voiced the lead in Pixar’s Oscar-winning Ratatouille . But there’s an unmistakable milestone quality to this week’s Young Adult , which places the actor and comic opposite Charlize Theron in a bitter stew of generational angst, woe and futility topped with a hint — but just barely a hint — of optimism.

What Kevin Spacey Thinks About Using Cell Phones in Theaters

While there’s hope that one idiotic theater in Washington encouraging audiences to text during movies dies a speedy death, take heart in the actions of new Movieline hero Kevin Spacey . The actor took a stand at a recent Sydney performance of Richard III when a rude theatergoer answered their cell phone during the play. “Spacey, the would-be Duke of Gloucester, singled out the phone owner and bellowed ‘Tell them we’re busy!’,” reports the UK Telegraph. “The audience erupted in support.” Sigh. If only actors could leap off the screen to do the same in cineplexes. [ Telegraph via Movie City News ]

Gloucester sign Scotland second-row Jim Hamilton

• Lock opts for Gloucester over Stade Français • Coach Bryan Redpath says he is ‘exceptionally pleased’ Gloucester’s Caledonian connection strengthened today when they won the race to sign the giant Scottish lock Jim Hamilton. The 27-year-old had appeared bound for Stade Français but performed a neat U-turn to come back to the Guinness Premiership club closest to his roots. Hamilton, key to Scotland’s win in Argentina last Saturday, was born in Swindon and moved to Edinburgh via Leicester where he played alongside Brett Deacon – another Gloucester signing this summer. With Dave Attwood, one of England’s few successes so far in Australia and Alex Brown, an England A international, also on the books at Kingsholm, Gloucester are acquiring a stable of class locks. In Hamilton and Attwood they will also have a couple of the “enforcers” that have been missing in recent seasons when Gloucester have trodden the Heineken Cup stage. “I’m exceptionally pleased to have signed Jim,” said Gloucester’s head coach, Bryan Redpath, adding with considerable understatement: “He’s a huge physical presence.” In fact Hamilton stands 6ft 8in, currently weighs in at close on 20st and has been a more than adequate replacement for another big man, Nathan Hines, for Scotland in Argentina. Alongside the captain, Alastair Kellock, Hamilton dominated the lineout last Saturday creating the possession Dan Parks turned into penalty goals. Hamilton still had 12 months of a three-year contract remaining at Edinburgh, but was keen to leave and the club was not prepared to stand in his way. He was a product of the Leicester Academy, making his debut for the first XV in 2003. He was capped by England at Under-21 level but opted to play for the land of his Glasgow-born father, becoming the 1,000th man to be capped by Scotland when he made his debut in November 2006. “Any player of Jim’s calibre is going to attract a number of offers, but the fact that he’s chosen to move to Kingsholm after coming down to look around and meet us is a great endorsement of the direction that Gloucester are heading in,” said Redpath, whose Scottish stable already includes another four currently on tour in Argentina – Rory Lawson, Alasdair Strokosch, Alasdair Dickinson and Scott Lawson.
