Roy Clark, a legend in the world of country music and the former host of Hee Haw, died this morning at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 85 years old. A representative for the Grammy, CMA and ACM Award-winner tells TMZ Clark passed away after having recently contracted pneumonia — and that he ultimately passed due to complications from the illness. Clark had been in the spotlight for decades. He started performing all the way back at the age of 14 and was one of the first artists to land singles on both the pop and country charts. Adept at the guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and many other instruments, Clark was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009. He was born in Virginia and was introduced to the music industry by his father, who saw exceptional talent in his young son. “I was subjected to different kinds of music before I ever played,” Clark once said, adding of his father: “Dad said, ‘Never turn your ear off to music until your heart hears it because then you might hear something you like.'” Sound advice, right? Clark eventually went on tour with such stalwarts as Hank Williams and Grandpa Jones, dropping out of school when he could no longer keep up with the demands of both his burgeoning career and his studies. “Music was my salvation, the thing I loved most and did best,” Clark said. “Whatever was fun, I’d go do that.” After winning a banjo competition in 1950, Clark was invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. However, it wasn’t until 1960, when Clark performed with Wanda Jackson, that his career truly took off. After opening for Jackson in Las Vegas, he launched his own headlining tour, remaining on the road for 345 consecutive nights… and earning him his very own show in Sin City. In 1962, Clark released his debut album, “The Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark.” This album spawned his first hit, “The Tips of My Fingers,” which included an orchestra and strings section. In 1963, Clark appeared on both The Tonight Show and American Bandstand, showing off a sense of humor and personality that not many fans even knew existed. “Humor is a blessing to me,” said Clark. “My earliest recollections are of looking at something and seeing the lighter side. But it’s always spontaneous. I couldn’t write a comedy skit for someone else.” This point of view and this talent helped Clark become the host of Hee Haw, a country music variety show. He helmed the program for 24 years and his guests included Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks and Loretta Lynn. Clark is survived by Barbara, his wife of 61 years, and his five children. In the estimation of many country music fans, Miranda Lambert’s reputation has taken quite a tumble over the course of the past year. In truth, the singer’s decline in popularity probably began back in 2015 with her divorce from Blake Shelton . But the split seemed amicable, and both parties encouraged their fans to respect their privacy and show some compassion. Over the past few months, however, Miranda’s reputation has been dealt a series of crushing blows, largely due to her short-lived relationship with Evan Felker . In the press, Felker was often described as Lambert’s “married boyfriend,” and that’s not terribly far from the truth. Though Felker and his wife were estranged at the time of his relationship with Lambert, reports portraying Miranda as a heartless homewrecker persisted online. Now, in the wake of her breakup with Felker, sources close to Lambert are concerned that she’s developed a fixation with her most famous ex — and that she’s dealing with it in a decidedly unhealthy fashion. “Miranda can’t stand seeing her ex-husband so in love with Gwen, planning a wedding, [and] co-parenting Gwen’s sons,” an insider close to the situation tells Life & Style . “They’re worried her drinking is out of control and that she’s just numbing the pain of another failed relationship,” the source continues. “Friends and family have been so concerned that they’ve been considering an intervention.” The informant claims Miranda has been hitting the bottle hard for quite some time, and in recent weeks, her loved ones have become seriously concerned for her well-being. “Miranda’s hard partying went into overdrive toward the end of her [summer] Bandwagon tour, around the time of her breakup with Evan.” the insider explains. “Ever since then, she’s been on an alcohol tear to deal with the heartbreak,” the source added, noting that Miranda has been “throwing down whiskey and wine from her own Red 55 winery like mad to cope with her forlorn state.” On the bright side, boozing her way through a series of bad breakups certainly boosts Miranda’s country cred. And the concerned source even worked in an endorsement for Lambert’s winery! Now, that’s a lesson in synergistic poromotion. We kid, of course. If the situation is as serious as the insider claims, we certainly hope Miranda finds the help she needs. Part of the problem is that Lambert has embraced the image of a self-styled country outlaw, coping with her troubles with the help of a bottle and guitar. “I am who I am. I am honest about being flawed. That’s all I can be, you know? I cuss. I drink,” the singer said in a June interview. “I get divorced and get my heart broken. Last week, when Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got their marriage license , one of the eyewitnesses reported that they’d said something about leaving the country. These two lovebirds have done just that. And while they may claim that they’re not married yet , they’re not exactly hiding their affection. On top of their PDA, Justin went so far as to serenade Hailey in the streets of London. Justin is supporting his not-wife Hailey, as the couple crossed the pond so that Hailey can walk the runway at the Falcon Catwalk Show with Adidas Originals. While they were there, fans spotted the couple out and about, including Justin playing his guitar for Hailey. An eyewitness to Justin and Hailey’s public displays of affection told E! all about it. “They were very affectionate,” the witness reports. The source goes on to describe the two “stopping on street corners to pull each other in close to kiss.” The image of Justin and Hailey being so head over heels for each other that they could barely walk around London is a sweet one. “They never let each other get too far,” the witness describes. “And,” the source continues, they “were always touching each other and laughing.” Apparently, this continued even when they tried to appreciate their surroundings. Justin and Hailey waited in line to ride the London Eye, a famous landmark ferris wheel that people can ride in order to appreciate other landmarks. While in line, the two “couldn’t stop kissing.” That is so cute — and may be evidence that the two are flooded with feelings of marital bliss. The eyewitness describes this kissing as going on the “entire time.” Which means that they missed out on at least some of the sights. But that’s understandable. The eyewitness explains that there was some healthy communication going on. “Every few minutes,” the source says. “They kissed again before they went back to talking and smiling.” Kissing is fine and well, but we hear that it’s good to talk to your wife — or, uh, future wife. The singing is nice, too. However, it doesn’t sound like they were too busy locking lips to remember where they were. “They checked out the views of the city and had a great time,” the witness adds. And their tour of London continued beyond the ferris wheel. “Afterwards,” the eyewitness describes. “They walked along the river and checked out Big Ben.” To be clear, that’s the literal clock and not a euphemism for the Biebs’ penis. After Hailey and Justin obtained their marriage license, the two were considered legally married — but Hailey took to Twitter to shut it down. “I understand where the speculation is coming from,” Hailey tweeted on Friday, September 14. “But I’m not married yet!” As was later explained, Hailey and Justin don’t consider themselves married until they have their wedding. That is totally fair — especially since these two diehard Christians consider marriage to be a religious commitment rather than merely a legal status for their relationship. We have a sneaking suspicion that when Justin and Hailey marry — some time before early November, we imagine — they will let the world know. They don’t seem to be hiding their affection, after all. A gorilla from the Philadelphia Zoo was caught strolling on two legs recently like it was an everyday thang. Check him out below. Scared? Well you might be surprised to learn that this ape wasn’t on their way to start the revolution. They just didn’t want to get their food dirty. According to the zoo’s Director of Communications, Dana Lombardo, Louis walks on his two legs all the time. She told People , “Louis just hates when his food gets muddy,” so to keep his snacks from getting dirty, he carries them while walking on his hind legs. Okay… so, Louis is a germaphobe. Gotcha. We weren’t scared at all.
Ryan Seacrest is the latest famous name to face allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the ubiquitous TV and radio personality has been accused of acting inappropriately with a former stylist. This same publication reports that the the alleged victim made a substantial financial request of Seacrest in exchange for her silence. The American Idol emcee and Kelly Ripa co-host refused said request. The unnamed woman worked as a wardrobe stylist for E! and says the incident took place about 10 years ago. No details about her claims against Seacrest have been made public. A spokesperson for E!, however, has confirmed that the cable network is conducting an investigation into the matter. And Seacrest has released a lengthy statement in his own defense. It reads as follows: Recently, someone that worked as a wardrobe stylist for me nearly a decade ago at E! News, came forward with a complaint suggesting I behaved inappropriately toward her. If I made her feel anything but respected, I am truly sorry. I dispute these reckless allegations and I plan to cooperate with any corporate inquiries that may result. I treat all my colleagues with kindness, dignity, and understanding, as this is a principle that’s core to who I am. Throughout my 25 years in the entertainment industry, the majority of my co-workers have been women, and I’ve endeavored to foster a positive work environment of mutual respect and courtesy, as that’s how I believe it should be. I’m distraught that anyone or any situation would call that into question. I’m proud of my workplace reputation, and believe my track record will speak for itself. I’m an advocate for women. I will continue to support their voices. Seacrest, of course, is a very busy and successful producer and host. He currently sits each morning opposite Ripa on Live With Kelly and Ryan” weekday mornings on ABC; is scheduled to serve as host of that network’s upcoming revival of American Idol next spring. This news comes amid a wave of sexual harassment and assault allegations that have rocked Hollywood over the pastfew weeks, starting with back-to-back bombshell reports in The New York Times and The New Yorker that detailed allegations of sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein. Since then, accusations of misconduct have been leveled against such significant stars as Kevin Spacey, Lous C.K. and Jeffrey Tambor, just to name a few. Malcolm Young, one of the original members of AC/DC, has passed away. He was 64 years old. At this point, it’s not clear what caused Malcolm’s death, though we do know that he’d been suffering from dementia since at least 2014. It was then that his family — his brother Angus co-founded the band with him, and another Young brother, George, acted as a producer — announced he’d be leaving the band due to his health issues. In a statement released this morning, AC/DC wrote that “Today it is with deep heartfelt sadness that AC/DC has to announce the passing of Malcolm Young.” “Malcolm, along with Angus [Young, Malcolm’s brother], was the founder and creator of AC/DC. With enormous dedication and commitment he was the driving force behind the band.” “As a guitarist, songwriter and visionary he was a perfectionist and a unique man,” the statement continued. “He always stuck to his guns and did and said exactly what he wanted.” “He took great pride in all that he endeavored. His loyalty to the fans was unsurpassed.” In addition to the statement from AC/DC as a whole, Angus released one of his own. “As his brother it is hard to express in words what he has meant to me during my life,” he wrote, “the bond we had was unique and very special.” “He leaves behind an enormous legacy that will live on forever,” he added. “Malcolm, job well done.” Yet another statement was released by the rest of Malcolm’s family — they referred to him as “a songwriter, guitarist, performer, producer and visionary who inspired many.” “From the outset he knew what he wanted to achieve and, along with his younger brother, took to the world stage giving their all at every show.” “Nothing less would do for their fans.” Malcolm’s death must have hit the Young family especially hard — his older brother, George, passed away just last month. His death will no doubt be tough for AC/DC fans, because after all, he was a huge, huge part of the band. He and Angus formed AC/DC in 1973, and Malcolm played rhythm guitar all the way up until 2010 when they wrapped up their tour for their Black Ice album. Black Ice, released in 2008, was also the last album on which Malcolm was credited as a songwriter. Stevie Young, his nephew, replaced him in 2014 in time to record AC/DC’s most recent album, Rock or Bust. Our condolences to Malcolm’s friends and family — and, of course, all of his fans.
