‘RHOAS11’ Recap: Cynthia Sends Noelle Off To Howard University

Read the rest here:

Source: Ethan Miller / Getty Tonight’s episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta is chill, but it will tug at your heartstrings. Cynthia is preparing to send Noelle to Howard University, and both women are nervous wrecks because this will be the first thing Noelle has ever done without dear mama. However, Cynthia is proud of her baby girl and is planning to celebrate. The scene is Lake Bailey, and we’re in the middle of Noelle’s send-off party. Unfortunately, Noelle refuses to come downstairs and has a breakdown where she tearfully explains to her mother that she can’t go and wants the guests who are already there to go home. Mama Bear Cynthia comforts her girl and assures her that everything will be alright. Hold that thought. In other news, Todd and Mama Joyce aren’t on good terms, which sucks because they had made so much progress. Basically, Mama Joyce made a comment in an interview, that Kandi took Todd from lemons to lemonade, and Todd hasn’t taken too kindly to that because he feels it’s an insult. Mama Joyce says she meant it as a compliment but we all know how shady she can be. So now it’s up to Kandi to try to get them to be cool again. Kandi would like her mom to apologize and Mama Joyce has agreed. We’re nervous about how this goes but let’s fast forward a bit. Mama Joyce and Todd have their discussion and it actually goes well. Looks like all is well in Kandi Land again. Porsha has a major moment as she learns that her pregnancy is viable. You know she has been worried about this pregnancy due to having had prior miscarriages and her fibroid situation, but she finally has her first prenatal doctor’s appointment. It looks like everything is going well, but the only bummer for Porsha is that she will have to have a c-section due to having a myomectomy . Now we fast forward a bit and we’re back to Cynthia. She successfully convinces Noelle to go to Howard and they end up spending a weekend getting her settled into her new dorm. Luckily for Noelle, her roommate situation fell through so she has a room all to herself. Finally, the episode winds down with Cynthia and Leon sending Noelle back to campus, alone in an Uber, after a nice dinner. Noelle is still nervous but ready to level up. Next week it’s Kandi vs. Porsha again and it’s going to get heated, heated . AshLee Frazier: The Bachelor Front-Runner?

Lesley Murphy may have set a world record with Sean Lowe on The Bachelor last night, but the week truly belonged to AshLee Frazier. There were plenty of losers Monday night. AshLee Frazier was the opposite, grabbing Sean’s attention with her good looks – and back story. “There was something different about her that really made me take notice and I knew I wanted to spend more time with her,” says Sean in his blog . Sean says that he knew Ash would “share that compassion” he feels with Brianna and Emily, “the two girls who both suffer from chronic illnesses.” “I’m involved with two pediatric cancer foundations back home in Dallas, 1 Million 4 Anna and Micaela’s Army, and so this date pulled at my heartstrings.” “The day with Ashlee and the girls at Six Flags was incredible! We had so much fun and I took the most joy from watching how happy Emily and Brianna were.” “Their smiles made my heart melt.” Later, he says, Sean and AshLee “had time alone we needed to talk and really connect. She told me the story of her childhood and about the abuse she suffered.” “I don’t usually cry, but hearing her describe the day she met her father and how he told her he would love her forever brought me to tears.” “It was at that point that I understood where AshLee’s compassion comes from and I had a whole new appreciation for the person that she is.” “We finished the night dancing in front of one of my favorite bands, the Eli Young Band, and ended the evening with a very, very romantic kiss.” “AshLee quickly became a frontrunner and I knew I could fall in love with her.” As for that Guinness Record date with Lesley Murphy? “She was the perfect choice because I felt so comfortable around her from the beginning,” says Sean. “Women like Lesley are hard to find.” “She is not just sexy, smart and funny, but she’s also really easy to be around. I felt like I had known Lesley for years and it had only been two weeks.” “I thought kissing for more than three minutes would be awkward, especially since it took place on Hollywood Boulevard and in front of a crowd of people.” “But it wasn’t really. Time flew by and it was much more passionate than I thought it would be. I think that speaks to the chemistry we share.” Not everything went so smoothly last night, however. “I had no idea that there was any drama occurring between Amanda and Des, so I was surprised to hear Kacie bring it to my attention,” says Sean. “If I seemed frustrated when talking to Kacie, it’s because I was!” “I had a hard time understanding why Kacie decided to involve herself. After all, neither Amanda nor Des felt like they needed to say something.” “So why did Kacie? I felt like if anyone in the house should grasp the big picture, it was Kacie, yet she wasn’t. At the end of the night, it only felt right to give the rose to Lindsay.” Kacie was sent home as a result, while Lesley and AshLee remain in the hunt. Is Katy Perry’s Next Single ‘E.T.’?

Online reports point to the spacey tune as the pop star’s fourth Teenage Dream release. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry Photo: Bill McCay/ WireImage Katy Perry kicked off the summer proclaiming that “California Gurls” wear Daisy Dukes and bikinis on top. Then she pulled at our heartstrings and made us believe in true love on “Teenage Dream.” Finally, she empowered her fans with “Firework.” All three of her Teenage Dream singles have shot to the top of the charts, and she apparently is now ready to see if the fourth time’s the charm. Perez Hilton reports that Perry’s next Teenage Dream single will be the upbeat tack “E.T.” A rep at Perry’s label declined to confirm the report when reached by MTV News. Perry took to Twitter earlier this month to ask fans to help her pick her next single. There was some speculation that her choice would be “Peacock,” but the pop star didn’t reveal what tune would be next up for release. “Thanks for all your great suggestions for the next single today!” she tweeted on December 13. “Your voice has been heard! We’re on the same page…” Perry has been playing “E.T.” live as of late. Recently at Z-100’s Jingle Ball , the spirited singer joked about the spacey dance track, telling the crowd, “This next song is about falling in love with a foreigner, like far away … Not even in England.” Regardless of which tune Perry chooses as her next single, can expect the video for the track to be an event. “I guess I’m looking forward to making music videos on this new album,” she said earlier this year about Teenage Dream . “There’s a story to the songs. … I’m really excited about … making those music videos that are going to be larger than life.” Do you think “E.T.” should be Katy’s next single. Keith Olbermann Wins Award for ‘Excellence in Electronic Journalism’

It sure is a sign of the times when one of the most disgraceful and unashamedly liberal personalities in the television news industry wins an award for “excellence in electronic journalism.” Despite the seeming incongruity, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann won an Edward R. Murrow award Wednesday from the Radio Television Digital News Association. So what did Olbermann win for you ask? Writing the following tribute to his mother which aired on “Countdown” shortly after her death last year (video follows with commentary): In fairness to Olbermann, it was indeed a charming segment about her love for the game of baseball, though not surprisingly self-aggrandizing like virtually everything he does on and off the air. Of particular note was a video clip he showed of an interview he did with his mother after she was hit by a ball at a game at Yankee stadium on June 17, 2000. At the time he was working for Fox Sports. Readers are encouraged to forward to minute 3:45 when Olbermann asks his mother, “Have you been surprised by all the newspaper attention?” Her response told viewers everything they needed to know about the MSNBCer’s ego, “A little bit, but I want to know why they keep mentioning you!”  Delicious. In the end, as much as I find Keith Olbermann to be a disgusting caricature of what television journalism has degraded to in the past decade, this was certainly a touching tribute to his mother who in 2009, without any warning or apparent symptoms, died two weeks after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. I can imagine the pain he must have been going through at the time, and how difficult it was to get through those seven minutes without shedding a tear. Nice job, Keith.   That said, was this the best-written piece of electronic journalism last year, or did the folks at RTDNA get swept away by the emotional tug at the heartstrings? After all, 2009 was an eventful year what with America inaugurating its first black president, Tea parties breaking out all over the country, members of Congress getting verbally abused at town hall meetings, and the economy coming back from the brink of a depression. With this in mind, was one anchorman’s on air tribute to HIS mother REALLY worthy of such a commendation?   Before you answer, consider that NBC and MSNBC won more Murrow awards this year than any other news outlet. Any questions?
