Miley Cyrus is aghast at the behavior of… Miley Cyrus. In a series of pretty funny promos alongside Taran Killam, the artist makes fun of her racy VMA performance , agreeing that her clothing was way over-the-top and crying: “It was too much! Don’t forget about the children!” She also says she sticks her tongue out so often because it’s how she smells, while encouraging Killam to check Google for her latest activities. Miley will be serving as host and musical guest this Saturday night and don’t lie: whatever you think of her, you’ll be tuning in to see Cyrus does next. Check out the commercials now: Miley Cyrus Saturday Night Live Promos Cyrus will release her new album on October 8, but you need not wait that long to listen to snippets from every song on “Bangerz.”
Lesley Murphy may have set a world record with Sean Lowe on The Bachelor last night, but the week truly belonged to AshLee Frazier. There were plenty of losers Monday night. AshLee Frazier was the opposite, grabbing Sean’s attention with her good looks – and back story. “There was something different about her that really made me take notice and I knew I wanted to spend more time with her,” says Sean in his blog . Sean says that he knew Ash would “share that compassion” he feels with Brianna and Emily, “the two girls who both suffer from chronic illnesses.” “I’m involved with two pediatric cancer foundations back home in Dallas, 1 Million 4 Anna and Micaela’s Army, and so this date pulled at my heartstrings.” “The day with Ashlee and the girls at Six Flags was incredible! We had so much fun and I took the most joy from watching how happy Emily and Brianna were.” “Their smiles made my heart melt.” Later, he says, Sean and AshLee “had time alone we needed to talk and really connect. She told me the story of her childhood and about the abuse she suffered.” “I don’t usually cry, but hearing her describe the day she met her father and how he told her he would love her forever brought me to tears.” “It was at that point that I understood where AshLee’s compassion comes from and I had a whole new appreciation for the person that she is.” “We finished the night dancing in front of one of my favorite bands, the Eli Young Band, and ended the evening with a very, very romantic kiss.” “AshLee quickly became a frontrunner and I knew I could fall in love with her.” As for that Guinness Record date with Lesley Murphy? “She was the perfect choice because I felt so comfortable around her from the beginning,” says Sean. “Women like Lesley are hard to find.” “She is not just sexy, smart and funny, but she’s also really easy to be around. I felt like I had known Lesley for years and it had only been two weeks.” “I thought kissing for more than three minutes would be awkward, especially since it took place on Hollywood Boulevard and in front of a crowd of people.” “But it wasn’t really. Time flew by and it was much more passionate than I thought it would be. I think that speaks to the chemistry we share.” Not everything went so smoothly last night, however. “I had no idea that there was any drama occurring between Amanda and Des, so I was surprised to hear Kacie bring it to my attention,” says Sean. “If I seemed frustrated when talking to Kacie, it’s because I was!” “I had a hard time understanding why Kacie decided to involve herself. After all, neither Amanda nor Des felt like they needed to say something.” “So why did Kacie? I felt like if anyone in the house should grasp the big picture, it was Kacie, yet she wasn’t. At the end of the night, it only felt right to give the rose to Lindsay.” Kacie was sent home as a result, while Lesley and AshLee remain in the hunt. Columbus, Tallahassee and Wichita are coming to a small screen near you. Reports confirm that Amazon is developing a television show based on the 2009 hit film Zombieland , which starred Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone as survivors of a bloody apocalypse. As well as Bill Murray is what is likely the funniest cameo in movie history. Amazon is now competing with Netflix and Hulu in the originally programming space. The latter service is coming out with The Awesomes , an animated program with Kenan Thompson, Bill Hader, and Taran Killam; while the Netflix will soon make major waves with Arrested Development Season 4 . Elsewhere, read through these Zombieland quotes . They’re hilarious!
This week was the most difficult Saturday Night Live relevancy poll of the season to tabulate. No one cast member dominated the airtime, and with few exceptions, the cast was spread pretty thin throughout the evening. Put it this way: At one point I was thinking, Wow, Abby Elliott is getting a lot of play this week; it sure will be nice to see her finally near the top of the poll. But that faded as it became clear that pretty much everyone got a significant amount of play this week.
This season of Saturday Night Live has been, at many times, a bit tired. Even the usually reliable political sketches have seen off. But I can’t remember the last time a season of SNL has seemed so energized by a group of new cast members — when they’re actually allowed on air. This past weekend, the featured players pretty much took over the last half of the show, and it may have been the best continuous half-hour stretch of the season to date.
It was a peculiar week for Saturday Night Live , with the cast pretty much resigned to taking a back seat to the manic comedic stylings of host Jim Carrey; except for the cold open and “Weekend Update,” Carrey was the focal point of every sketch. As a result, this week’s SNL Relevancy Poll is thrown more than a bit off-kilter: Instead of cast members standing out, what we saw instead were cast members just trying to keep up with their host. And if there’s anything we know about SNL , it’s that it rarely (if ever) functions at its best as a one-man show.

So… is it safe to talk about SNL again? While I was trying to get as much sleep as possible in the foxhole that I embedded myself in last night , I got the feeling that a few of you were not quite as happy with Saturday night’s show as I seemed to be. But here’s the thing: In the scorecard I did mention that (the now polarizing) Jeff Bridges was far from the best host of the season and that Saturday was also not the laugh-out-loud funniest show of the season. I’ll admit, perhaps this is a flaw with the scoring system used, but what the Bridges installment had was a plethora of sketches that received a score between six and seven. Bridges had eight “good” sketches and only four “bad.” Put it this way: if every sketch had been given a score of 6.5, it would be the top rated show of the season. Having said all of that, I still very much liked Saturday’s installment. OK, let’s get to the poll.

Perhaps I’m in the holiday spirit (maybe), perhaps it’s the amount of wine consumed from back-to-back holiday parties (more likely), but last night’s Jeff Bridges-hosted installment of Saturday Night Live was, well, quite great. Not the laugh-out-loud funniest show of the season, but, from top to bottom, there wasn’t a whole lot of “bad.” I mean, it was so good that the best sketch of the night was the third to last of the show. Bridges, who last co-hosted in 1983 with his brother Beau, did an admirable job as host but, more importantly, did an admirable job of not getting in the way of a cast that was obviously on a mission before they took a break for the holidays.

Poor Paul Rudd. Last time he hosted SNL , his performance was overshadowed by musical guest Beyoncé (and her “Single Ladies” sketch with Justin Timberlake). This time Rudd had to compete with a Beatle. After a very slow start, the Paul Rudd-hosted edition of SNL recovered into one of the most memorable but wildly unbalanced episodes of the season. Let’s be clear: Rudd did a fine job, but this was Paul McCartney’s episode. Not only did McCartney appear in three different sketches, the former Beatle got four — four! — musical segments: Performing “Jet,” “Band on the Run,” a “Day in the Life”/”Give Peace a Chance” hybrid and “Get Back.” So, how was the rest of the show that didn’t involve McCartney singing? On to the scorecard!

Robert De Niro returned for his third Saturday Night Live hosting gig last night, and the usually befuddled host was, this time, surprisingly… OK. Look, the guy is never going to be considered one of the great hosts — a screen legend always seeming to be a little bit out of his element. For starters, De Niro, more than almost any other recurring host, doesn’t really hide the fact that he reads off of cue cards (of course, because of so many last-minute changes, everyone on SNL reads off of cue cards, but some work harder than than others at hiding this). But, dammit, there’s something endearing about the fact that he keeps trying. It would be going a little far to say that the third time was a charm — but his third time was, let’s say, serviceable (with some help from Ben Stiller). On to the scorecard!
