Featured on the latest cover of Elle, Miley Cyrus makes a couple of stunning admissions. As first reported last week, the singer says she will stop walking on red carpets and posing for official photographs at events until the issue of world hunger is resolved. So, in other words, we won’t be seeing Miley on any red carpets any time soon. “Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that’s red? Because I’m ‘important’? Because I’m ‘famous’?” The short answer is yes. And one could argue that her posing on that red carpet actually helps employ photographers, who sell their pictures to magazines. If all celebrities took Miley’s approach, these photographers could be out of a job and become homeless, starving people themselves. But still. We can’t really fault in a celebrity acknowledging that there are far more important issues in the world than what dress she is wearing to some meaningless event. So: way to go, Miley! Elle has now gone ahead and released the full interview it conducted with Cyrus, with a focus of the Q&A centering on Miley’s life as the titular character on Hannah Montana. It was a dream role, she says. She starred on the Disney Channel series from 2007 through 2011. And only now does she realize just how ignorant she was about it at times. “I did not grow up spoiled in any way. I just wanted to be on TV. I mean, at one point – they’ll probably kill me for saying it – I was probably the least paid person on my cast because I didn’t know any better,” the actress tells the magazine. “I was just like, ‘I can be on Disney! Yeah, I want to do it!'” That really is pretty cute, isn’t it? And also pretty surprising: Miley was the lowest paid cast member on Hannah Montana?!? “My name was Miley on my show, but I didn’t own my name – we didn’t think about that,” she explains of her ad her family, adding: “Like, ‘Yeah, you can use my name on your show, sure!’ “My mom started understanding how many people take advantage of a child, so she hired smart people to protect me in that way. “I’m happy that when I was younger, people protected me and put me in a position where I can now control my music.” View Slideshow: Miley Cyrus Tattoos: Which is Your Favorite? Cyrus goes on to say that life in the spotlight was a challenge. She was just a teenager, yet she was analyzed and judged by everyone around here… and also everyone NOT around her, perfect strangers. “I was such an emotional person – I’m still such an emotional person – but I was trying to find out who I was,” she says. “You go through these stages, especially in our industry.” We can’t relate because we aren’t famous. But we can certainly sympathize with someone having to grow up so quickly and figure out who she is while an entire world is watching. “Paparazzi always made me really uncomfortable. You’re growing up and you look weird sometimes. My zits were all crazy; I’ve gone through some hair trauma,” Miley adds. “That’s how I started sticking out my tongue in pictures. Because I hate everyone being so serious.” Wow. Interesting. Miley Cyrus Refuses To Walk Anymore Red Carpets In the end, Miley waxes philosophical. “I was watching this documentary about dragonflies – they go from this crunchy little larva to this crazy dragonfly. So why can’t we do that? “If we’re so smart and so much better than all the animals, and man rules the world, why can’t we just change all the time from, like, a caterpillar to a butterfly?. “I just don’t think I’m doing enough – which everyone around me would kill me for saying, because I definitely can take it too far.” We love it.
