This Thing Is Bigger Than Nino Brown: Wesley Snipes Order To Pay $9.5 Million In Back Taxes To The IRS

(Photo by Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images) Wesley Snipes Ordered To Pay Back $9.5 Million In Back Taxes Pay your taxes. According to The Blast , after taking trying to take his tax case to court, the Wesley Snipes lost his appeal on $10 million in debt he owed to the IRS. This isn’t a new case at all. If you recall, Snipes was sentenced to prison for not filing his federal income taxes back in 2008 and has been in a legal battle with the IRS for over a decade for tax debt from the late ‘90s and early 2000s. He claims that his accountant and anti-tax advocate allegedly convinced him he didn’t have to pay taxes. Snipes originally owed $23.5 million to the IRS, but was able to reduce it down to $9.5 million. He tried settling for $850,000 but the IRS said “nah”. Snipes filed an appeal, and the court sided granted the IRS its requests. “Given the disparity between petitioner’s $842,061 OIC [offer-in-compromise] and the settlement officer’s calculation of $9,581,027 as his RCP [reasonable collection potential], as well as petitioner’s inability to credibly document his assets, the settlement officer and her manager had ample justification to reject the offer,” U.S. Tax Court Judge Kathleen Kerrigan. Snipes claimed in court that his financial advisor took out loans and assets without his knowledge, but failed to provide enough evidence to back up the claim. The judge ruled the $9.5 million payout wouldn’t leave Snipes broke and that he should be able to cover it.

Jesus Take The Headphones: Dr. Dre And Jimmy Iovine Are Fighting A $100M Beats Royalty Lawsuit

Desiree Navarro/WireImage Jimmy Iovine & Dr. Dre Are Fighting A Huge Beats Royalty Lawsuit Having one of the biggest headphone brands in the game isn’t always glorious–take it from the guys behind Beats. The origin of  Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine’s  Beats company is currently under debate in Los Angeles Superior Court, because entrepreneur Steven Lamar is suing the duo for allegedly screwing him out of a whopping $100 million in royalties. Lamar is claiming that he’s the one who brought the idea of a celebrity-endorsed headphone line to Dre and Iovine all the way back in 2006, according to reports from  Billboard . After the trio went through a falling out, Iovine and Dre sued him, and both parties ended up eventually settling. With the settlement came these conditions: Lamar relinquished his rights in exchange for four percent royalties of every headphone sold thereafter. Thereafter, Beats started designing and selling newer models, and as you probably already know, the pair eventually sold the company to Apple for a smooth $3 billion. Now, the issue is whether or not Lamar is owed royalties for the models sold after their initial settlement was made, or if the former Beats owners owe him a substantial amount more. The judge originally rejected Lamar’s claim that they owe him anything, but a California appeals court thought otherwise and revived the lawsuit two years ago, stating that the royalty agreement both parties initially agreed to was “ambiguous.” The current proceedings revolve around the debate as to whether or not the agreement was about one particular product, or any future iterations and models. In the proceedings, Lamar introduced a PowerPoint presentation containing slides from the early days of Beats, where he brainstormed various models that he, Dre, and Iovine would collaborate on in the future. Right now, this entire matter is currently for the Los Angeles Superior Court to wade through—but something like this can sure take a while.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Reach Temporary Settlement: Who Gets the Kids?

Just two weeks ago, who would have thought that we’d be talking about drug testing and therapy sessions when it comes to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. But here we are. Incredibly, shockingly, sadly… here we are. Sources have confirmed to TMZ that Jolie and Pitt have reached a temporary settlement in their bitter divorce battle. The actor and the actress sat down this week with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, along with their personal attorneys, to hash out the details. Jolie, of course, filed to divorce Pitt on September 19. At the time, she cited “irreconcilable difference” as the basis for the couple’s legal split, stating for the record that she and Pitt had separated on September 15. The day before that separation date, Pitt allegedly got drunk on board a private airplane… and at least verbally abused his 15-year old son, Maddox. Some have even said that Pitt physically abused Maddox , an accusation that has led to an FBI investigation and talk that Pitt is a terrible parent. So that brings us today. View Slideshow: Angelina Jolie Divorces Brad Pitt, Celebrities React in SHOCK Sources familiar with the estranged couple’s situation tell DCFS that it made its recommendations and that the celebrities were faced with two options by the organization: Agree to their deal… or fight it out in court. Both sides have apparently agrees to the settlement laid out by DCFS. And these are the terms of the settlement, per TMZ insiders: Angelina gets full physical custody of the six children. Brad has been granted visitation rights, but only with strings attached. The first visit will be with a therapist present, with the therapist in possession of the power to either allow Brad future, unmonitored visits … or insist on being present whenever he’s around the kids. Pitt will be subject to random drug/alcohol testing. As has been stated throughout the Internet, Jolie thinks Pitt has problem with alcohol and marijuana. According to law enforcement sources, the actor’s initial test was negative for drugs and alcohol . Brad and Angelina will each submit to individual counseling. Moreover, Pitt, Jolie and the kids will undergo family counseling as a group. Brad Pitt Issues New Statement on “Family Situation” Jolie is reportedly thrilled with the arrangement, which makes sense. Her priority from the get-go has been to essentially take the kids away from Pitt. She sought full physical custody in her divorce papers. She’s also been adamant (per third party sources and reports) that Pitt needs help with substance abuse. It’s worth noting, however, that this agreement will only last for three weeks. There’s still a lot more to go in the long run for these two. At that juncture, three weeks from now, DCFS could impose new ground rules or conceivably turn the matter over to the courts. Until then, all will remain quiet and calm between the couple. But not on the Internet, of course. Expect plenty of chatter surrounding Bragelina to continue today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year…

Oksana Grigorieva Loses $14.75M of Settlement For Leaking Mel Gibson Tapes

Oksana Grigorieva was originally supposed to receive $15 million in her settlement with Mel Gibson, but will only be getting 1/60 of that. Yes, one-sixtieth. She has only herself to blame, too. The Russian model and mother to the one-time couple’s six-year-old daughter, Lucia, will only receive $250,000 from the Oscar winner. Domestic abuse claims she made in an interview on The Howard Stern Show in 2013 cost her $14,750,000, according to court documents. Gibson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of battery (saving him jail time), originally agreeing to a custody settlement of $15 million. The only stipulation was a big one, and clear: If Grigorieva vowed not to release damning information about the actor and director to the public, then she would receive that amount. Didn’t happen. Oksana told police just months later that Gibson had punched her as well as threatened her life and brandished a gun around Lucia. Subsequently, the Mel Gibson tapes surfaced. In a series of disturbing audio recordings, the actor sounded deranged as he told her she “deserved” the assault he allegedly committed. He added that he would “bury” her and burn down her residence, as well as the fact that she sucks at music and various other insults. It was bad. Very bad. But it cost her too. After a year of legal wrangling, they settled on a much more modest $750,000, which Gibson agreed to dole out to her in three installments. He was set to pay $250,000 after the releases were signed, $250,000 by September 2013 and a final installment by September 2016. The judge warned her not to speak publicly about the case or any of the allegations against Mel, or that settlement would be void as well. Again, she didn’t listen. Gibson had paid the first of the $250,000 installments, but the California Court of Appeals ruled that he won’t have to pay the other $500,000. Thus, Grigorieva will only receive 1/60 of the original $15 million she left on the table, thanks to leaking the tapes and talking to Stern. Totally worth it.

Chrissy Teigen Shows Off Post-Baby Body, Reminds Us That Life Is Cruel

Everyone woman deserves to feel beautiful. It’s just incredibly unfair when one looks this beautiful after having a child. I won’t knock the sisterhood.  I won’t! Except…look at Chriss Teigen’s body!  Did she blink and POOF…Gone is any evidence of 9 months of gestation? What sorcery is this?! Last month, Teigen gave birth to Luna Simone Stephens, her first child with husband, John Legend. Little Luna weighed 6 lbs, 11oz at her time of birth. “She’s here!” Teigen announced via Instagram. “Luna Simone Stephens, we are so in love with you! And sleepy. Very sleepy.” Yesterday, Teigen celebrated her first Mother’s Day as a new mama, and even got to work making food (John, we’re going to have to speak to you about this.  The woman should be lounging on a divan, holding a crystal glass full of sparkling water). “Mother’s Day Brunch – low and slow scrambled eggs, chicken and waffles and roasted bacon, oh my!” the amateur chef posted. Ok, she’s making a meal for her family.  Great. BUT LET US PLEASE ADDRESS HOW AMAZING SHE LOOKS . In other Teigen news, some Twitter trolls weren’t pleased to learn that she took a night off from motherhood to dine with Legend. The new parents dined at The Nice Guy in West Hollywood, a no-no by the peanut gallery’s standards. “The spotlight pull be strong,” one user sniped “One week. Who wants to leave a one week old baby to go to a bar?” Another was equally obnoxious. “She’s hitting the streets already???? Damn these so called celebrities want to show off so bad after giving birth,” another chimed in. “Spend bonding time with your baby and not let the nanny or babysitter raise them!” This next one is next-level TMI. “You bleed a few weeks and the smell is horriffic!” wrote another. “Even with a shower you have an after birth smell. I would never leave my baby after a week.” That’s excellent for you. Teigen is obviously smitten with her little girl, and her doctor must have given her the green light to go out for a change of scenery and a nice meal that doesn’t involve holding a newborn while shoving Pringles into one’s mouth before she wakes up again. So everyone just shut up and marvel at Teigen’s figure. View Slideshow: Coco Post-Baby: Pics of the New Mom & Her Bounce-Back Body

Kaley Cuoco STICKS IT to Ryan Sweeting in Divorce Settlement!

Even though  Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting got divorced after less than two years of marriage, it was widely believed that the former tennis pro would make out like a bandit in terms of spousal support. After all, it was just a few months after their wedding that Kaley signed a $90 million contract for three more seasons of The Big Bang Theory , thus making her one of the highest paid actresses in TV history. Unfortunately for the unemployed Mr. Sweeting, it seems Kaley spent a large chunk of that fortune on hiring the best divorce lawyers money can buy. TMZ is reporting today that Sweeting will get next to nothing from Cuoco thanks to an ironclad prenup. In fact, it seems that all of the cash in that record-breaking contract will remain in Kaley’s bank account. That’s right – Ryan won’t see a cent of the sweet TBBT money that’ll allow Kaley to retire at 35 if she wants to. View Slideshow: Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting: A Romance Rewind Instead, Sweeting walks away with a lump sum payment of $165,000 and whatever “cash and gift certificates” are already in his possession. Kaley has also agreed to pay the $195,000 bill for his two personal trainers. Sounds like a decent deal by regular non-celebrity standards, but you have to remember that Ryan probably thought he would never have to work again. $165,000 is a nice chunk of change, but it’s not “go live out the rest of your days playing shuffleboard in Cabo” money. The fact that Kaley sicced her legal team on Sweerting in such ruthless fashion has been taken by some as an indication that the split wasn’t as amicable as the ex-couple initially pretended. Whatever the case, we think it’s safe to say Ryan will probably no longer watch The Big Bang Theory online after the settlement is finalized.

Justice: Black Women’s Book Club Wins $11 Million Racial Discrimination Lawsuit Against Napa Valley Wine Train

Black Women’s Book Club Wins $11 Million Lawsuit Against Napa Valley Wine Train A Black women’s book club group were harshly removed from a California vineyard tour after white patrons accused them of being too loud on their train ride. According to Reuters reports: Eleven women have reached a settlement with a California wine train company they sued for $11 million for racial discrimination after they were kicked off the train for being too loud, their lawyer said on Monday. Members of the Sistahs on the Reading Edge Book Club came to an “amicable settlement” with the Napa Valley Wine Train company on Thursday, six months after filing a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Northern California, their attorney Waukeen McCoy said. “We hope that other businesses learn from this case and implement diversity and sensitivity training for employees,” McCoy said in an email to Reuters. McCoy did not disclose the terms of the settlement. The 11 women, 10 of whom are African-American, were ordered off the vintage train on Aug. 22 after other passengers complained the group was too loud. The expulsion sparked widespread anger on social media. The controversy unfolded as the United States grapples with persistent issues of racism and discrimination following high-profile police killings of unarmed black men over the last two years, which triggered waves of protest and a renewed civil rights movement under the banner of “Black Lives Matter.” Justice!!!! Gwen Stefani & Gavin Rossdale Divorce: He’ll Get HOW MUCH??

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have reached an agreement in their divorce settlement, and the details may surprise some. Fans speculated whether Rossdale would take his wife to the cleaners since the two never signed a prenuptial agreement (ah, romance!) and she’s worth a hellulva lot more than he is. According to California law, Rossdale is legally entitled to half of the assets the couple earned during their 13-year marriage. However, a source tells People that the Bush front man is settling for less and allowing Gwen to take the majority of their property. The two will share 50-50 joint custody of their three sons, Kingston, 9, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, 2. Rossdale is not seeking child support. Rossdale’s guilt may have played a role in the settlement. After the couple split in August last year, it was widely reported that Rossdale’s torrid  affair with the nanny  is what prompted Gwen to leave. Rossdale would’ve gone from major douche to King Douche if he tried to cash in after pulling such a deplorable (if not classically trite) move. Stefani, on the other hand, seems to be on top of the world these days. She scored her first number one album last month with “This Is What the Truth Feels Like,” part of which she wrote while going through the breakup. And you may have heard about her little dalliance with country star and fellow The Voice coach Blake Shelton. Engagement rumors surround this couple every other week, and now that Gwen’s nearly a free woman, perhaps the two will make it official for real.
