The Obama Administration issued a response to an online petition asking the White House to commission an intergalactic Death Star a la Star Wars . Sadly, it rejected the request. Guess The Force was not strong enough with this petition . Claiming it would cost an estimated $850,000,000,000,000,000 and that “the administration does not support blowing up planets,” Obama nixed the idea. The White House was forced to offer an official response, since the petition garnered the requisite 25,000 signatures on the WeThePeople petitioning system. As we’ve discussed in the past, this online petitioning process is either one of Team Obama’s greatest achievements or an idea they will forever regret. All depends on your point of view, right? Other memorable efforts we’ve seen in the past two or three months alone: A request to deport Piers Morgan of CNN A demand for a Joe Biden reality show A large-scale Texas secession effort The Death Star petition may take the cake, despite that stiff competition. After the administration’s delayed response to the petition was criticized online, the good folks in the executive branch finally replied, titling their answer: “This Isn’t the Petition Response You’re Looking For.” “The Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn’t on the horizon,” the WH Chief of Science wrote In addition to a reasonable aversion for mass genocide, officials worried that the system has a well-known vulnerability – as proven in Star Wars: Episodes IV and VI . “Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?” the WH asked. Hard to refute that. For the impressively long and unabridged response to this attempt at direct democracy, follow the link for the full White House reply .
The long-awaited Britney Spears and Jason Trawick breakup reportedly happened because of kids … though not for the specific reason you might think. Britney, who is already mother to Sean Preston, 7, and Jayden James, 6, really wanted to have more children and Jason did not, according to reports. Jason Trawick, 41, is “just in another place” and does not want to start a family, although he loves Sean Preston, Jayden James and Britney Spears, 31. The former couple argued frequently about expanding their family since getting engaged in December 2011 and this ultimately proved their undoing. Sources also say dealing with Britney Spears – the money-making empire, not the woman – also wore at Jason and “took away his individuality.” The agent maintain his identity and one of the things he tried was to expand his business by taking on more clients … which didn’t sit well with Britney. Both Spears and Trawick say they will remain close going forward and this decision, while difficult, was mutual and agreed upon by mature adults. At least on paper, that appears true. The house Britney just bought for them for $8.5 million was purchased solely with her money and she’ll keep it. She always paid for the bulk of their lifestyle, but Jason also does well for himself and should continue to, so there’s no arguing over money whatsoever.

Vogue Italia recently profiled Solange and her impeccable style. She reveals to the magazine her favorite fashion designers, must-have items, sources of inspiration, meaning of success, personal motto, favorite songs, beauty routine…and of course, a bit about love. Must-have wardrobe items Vibrant colors and print fabrics. High-waisted silhouettes, statement shoes, easy dresses and Doc Martens for rainy days. One item every girl should have I believe every girl should own a pair of chic and comfortable flats. What is your definition of style? The canvas of our individuality. An outlet for expression. Fashion Icons? Diana Ross, Erykah Badu, the Fela Kuti Queens, my uber glam mother, Chaka Khan, Bjork and the girls on the street in my hood. Beauty Routine I am very low maintenance. I think I am lucky when I get to wash my face at night. I occasionally get facials by a miracle worker in Los Angeles named Mirta. However, apparently getting facials is not the way to erase months of carelessness and angry pores. Sleep is vital, happiness is key so I feel the most beautiful with those two elements combined. Make up Routine YSL concealer, Rimmel mascara, Rimmel pencil eyeliner, bright lips… Keep it moving Relationship status Happily Committed. It is not complicated, thank God! 5 things you can´t live without? Water, food, plants, sun and sex. What does success mean to you? Defining success on my own terms. First, being a loving and committed mother. I have failed in all things if I have not achieved that. Being an artist that creates to express the needs of my own, and in the process hopefully inspiring others. Having the financial stability to support the lifestyle that makes me feel fulfilled. I know that happiness is a temporary state of mind, success means for me constantly growing, evolving to find that place. What is your opinion about the black representation in the fashion industry? I think it is evolving, and that is a beautiful thing! Now when I flip trough magazines I can see just as many beautiful black models in major campaigns as any other race. Unique, striking, beautiful women. I felt so extremely blessed to be Rimmel’s first black spokesperson, and to be embraced fully for being exactly who I am. And standing next to Kate Moss, with my Afro bigger than days light. I don’t by any means consider myself the most qualified for model material. I think that people tend to respond to what is real. Black women carry that flame with so much ease and confidence. It is being captured and celebrated on all fronts in fashion now. I have friends who are doing greats things, that movement is very real and well deserved! Solange Goes Off On Twitter, Defends Beyonce & Baby! A young woman’s mother dies recently, she jumps off a cliff in an apparent suicide, and she just happened to work for the Fox News Channel. What do you think the left would have to say about this? Julianna Rolle, a 39 year-old former Fox News producer, was found dead at the bottom of a 100-foot cliff last weekend in her hometown of Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Authorities now say she jumped to her death. While many of Gawker’s readers displayed the appropriate sentiments, some of the tolerant, compassionate liberals predictably showed their true colors. Dear other Fox News employees: Julianna Rolle is a shining example for you all. — scarletmenace And there were more… How can you not be depressed working for Fox News? All they do is push the agenda of lies that the world is coming to an end and it will never get better as long as Democrats hold the power? I personally could not live with the guilt of manufacturing misery for a paycheck . — lorrigirl Sad. Now let’s see how Fox manages to blame this on Obama. — Weegee’s bored I like how FNC hustled to clarify that she was “definitely not a Bureau Chief.” GFYFNC. — GordonGartrelle I guess she lost her balance. Can’t. Help. It……sorry! I’m a terrible human being. — SpicyMeatball Well, considering that the rest of Fox News has all of the individuality of a leap (herd? pack?) of lemmings …. (crossing my fingers) — MartyVega Did she jump, or did Bill O’Reilly push? — TheKenoshaKid True to form.
‘Stay away from girls and be focused,’ Gaga tells the YouTube sensation via phone. By Kara Warner Ellen DeGeneres and Greyson Michael Chance on “Ellen” Photo: Warner Bros. Meet the newest YouTube sensation: Greyson Chance. Thanks to his performance of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” nearing 9 million views (one of those being Ellen DeGeneres), Chance is an overnight celebrity and found himself taking his first-ever plane ride to meet the comedienne on her daytime talk show Thursday (May 13). “I was sitting in math class when I got a text from my mom: ‘Call me ASAP,’ ” Chance told DeGeneres of hearing the news he was wanted on the show. “This was my first flight, so I was really scared. … I’m still taking it all in.” Of his newfound fame, the sweet-faced Bieber look-alike coyly admitted that girls at his school have started paying more attention to him: “Let’s just say I’ve gotten a couple of numbers and made some new friends.” In addition to covering Gaga, the aspiring songwriter has written two original songs called “Broken Hearts” and “Stars,” which are also posted on YouTube. ” ‘Stars’ is about a wife who dies of cancer, and she goes into the stars and her husband shortly after goes into the stars with her,” he said. “I just kind of felt it. ‘Broken Hearts’ I lived. [It’s] about two girls in particular. … I tried to make some pretty powerful hints into it, but I’m not going to say their names, of course.” Regarding the now-famous “Paparazzi” cover, the 12-year-old said the song choice was a natural one, given that his number-one inspiration is Lady Gaga. “I love how she’s so different, and she takes her individuality and her amazing talent and makes great songs that are catchy and that make you want to dance and maybe throw out some Ellen moves you have. I just love her individuality, the way she can harness that with her talent.” Then Ellen surprised Chance by introducing Gaga herself, who was waiting on the phone line. “Hi, Greyson!” Gaga said. “Hi, Miss Gaga!” Chance stammered, his surprised smile a mile wide. Ellen then asked Gaga if she’d seen Greyson’s video. “I did,” she said. “You’re so sweet and so talented, and I was so excited that you covered ‘Paparazzi,’ and everyone loves you so much. Keep following your dreams and work really hard and stay away from girls and be focused.” Gaga then said her goodbyes and wished him luck on his live “Paparazzi” performance on “Ellen,” which he did just after hanging up with Lady G. We’re thinking this won’t be the last we see of Greyson Chance. He’s scheduled to perform in his hometown’s summer production of “Oliver!” pending any upcoming record deals, of course. What do you think of Greyson Chance? Could he become as famous as Gaga? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Lady Gaga
‘I could defend myself, but it’s just silly,’ singer says of ‘blackface’ criticism. By Hillary Crosley Estelle in the preview for her music video “Freak” Photo: EstelleMusic.com/ Youtube After her breakthough album Shine, British songstress-rapper Estelle has returned with a new single, “Freak,” from her forthcoming album, All of Me. However, the song’s video — segments of which show her wearing black makeup on her face and body — did not go over well with some of her fans online . “Those comments were the first thing I saw after we released the video trailer,” Estelle told MTV News on Monday (March 1). “It’s like, ‘Are you joking?’ ” The “Freak” clip was directed by frequent Kanye West collaborator Nabil Elderkin and the song itself is a bouncy dance-track produced by David Guetta, featuring Canadian MC Kardinal Offishall. The lyrics address people releasing their individuality and the clip features Estelle in a multitude of looks, including black body paint. However, the director said it’s meant to be in fun. “We are making a video about Estelle acting freaky and we’re gonna do lots of things: turns, fingers, beauty looks, freaky looks, fast dancers, it’s gonna be hot,” Elderkin says in the clip’s promotional trailer. (The director was unavailable for comment at press time.) Estelle said she and the director are longtime friends and he understands that her creative vision is “coming from a place of art versus just trying to be different.” She also declined to address the online chatter directly. “I think they need to wait to see the clip. I could defend myself, but it’s just silly,” Estelle said of the comments. “I’m black, so how do I do blackface? Missy did the same thing [with her video] “She’s a Bitch.” I refuse to defend it, I didn’t put any white ring around my mouth — never that.” Estelle said the “Freak” video will hit the web this week and her album will hits shelves this summer.
