Taylor Swift Says 2012 Album Is ‘About Moving On’

The 10 songs she’s written so far are ‘sad, if I’m being honest,’ she tells The New Yorker. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Swift Photo: Jordan Strauss/ Getty Images It’s been almost a year since Taylor Swift released the chart-topping Speak Now, which included the hits “Mine” and “Back to December.” Fans won’t have to wait much longer for the next country-crossover hits: Swift’s next album is due sometime in 2012. During an interview with The New Yorker, Swift said she recently decided that life is “about achieving contentment … you’re not always going to be ridiculously happy” — and that newly discovered viewpoint is leaking into her new music. Throughout her career, we’ve seen Swift grow from a wide-eyed girl who sings about puppy love to a been-there, done-that young woman who understands heartbreak. Her new songs certainly fit into the progression. “They’re sad, if I’m being honest,” she said of the 10 songs she’s written so far, adding that a recent track she wrote “is about moving on.” Of her abilities as a vocalist, Swift said singing is really just the vehicle to get her ideas out into the world. “I write songs, and my voice is just a way to get those lyrics across,” she said. In an interview with MTV News earlier this year, Swift said her ability to express her feelings in song has grown nearly as much as she has as a person. “I think retrospect will tell a lot. Years from now, I’ll look back and go, ‘I didn’t know anything then,’ ” she said. “I had this song called ‘Picture to Burn’ that’s talking about how ‘I hate your truck’ and ‘I hate that you ignored me,’ ‘I hate you,’ ” she explained. “Now, the way that I would say that and the way that I would feel that kind of pain is a lot different.” Until Swift does put out new music, her fans can look forward to a concert album and DVD special called “Speak Now World Tour – Live,” dropping November 21. It will include live versions of tracks like “Mine,” “Story of Us,” “Mean” and Back to December.” What are you expecting from Taylor Swift’s new music? Let us know in the comments! ‘Community’ Star Donald Glover Tapped To Host 2011 Woodie Awards

The 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards will air live on MTV, MTV2 and mtvU on March 16 at midnight. By James Montgomery Donald Glover Photo: Jordan Strauss/ Getty Images He’s already taken the community college world by storm, and now Donald Glover is looking to conquer the mtvU Woodie Awards as the show’s first-ever host. Glover, best known for his portrayal of a college student on NBC’s “Community,” has just been tapped to serve as master of ceremonies for the seventh-annual Woodies, which will air live on MTV, MTV2 and mtvU on Wednesday, March 16, at midnight, from the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas. Glover seems the perfect man for the job. After all, the Woodies are the only awards show where the winners are determined by college students, and Glover is definitely psyched about the opportunity. “I’m really excited to be hosting the Woodies, (insert joke about award sounding like a penis),” he wrote in a statement. Glover is just the latest name to be announced for the 2011 Woodies, joining a list of performers — Wiz Khalifa, Odd Future, Sleigh Bells and more — and nominees (a list that includes everyone from Kanye West and Yelawolf to Mumford & Sons and the Arcade Fire ) that showcase not only the Woodies’ eclectic tastes, but those of its viewers, too. John Stamos Extortion Trial Ends With Guilty Verdict

Michigan couple face up to five years in prison for trying to con hundreds of thousands of dollars from the actor. By Kara Warner John Stamos Photo: Jordan Strauss/ WireImage The verdict is in for the Michigan couple who tried to con hundreds of thousands of dollars out of actor John Stamos: guilty. The Associated Press reports that Allison Coss, 24, and Scott Sippola, 31, were found guilty of conspiracy and using e-mail to threaten a person’s reputation. It is a charge that could land the couple in prison for up to five years. Last fall, Coss and Sippola reportedly threatened to sell old photos of the former “Full House” and “ER” star with strippers and cocaine to the tabloids unless he paid them $680,000. Stamos received two e-mails from a “Jessica T,” who claimed she was pregnant and that Stamos was the father, according to the prosecutor. Those were followed by several e-mails from a “Brian L” describing the allegedly compromising photos, which he said would be sold to tabloids if Stamos did not buy them for $680,000. Prosecutors have claimed that Coss and Sippola sent the e-mails, and though Henderson acknowledged that Coss used the pseudonym “Jessica T,” the lawyer dismissed the e-mails as a trick to test Stamos’ reaction in hopes of determining whether he was preying on young girls. Stamos and his lawyer have denied the actor’s romantic involvement with Coss from the beginning. Stamos, who was not present to hear the verdict, arrived in time to hear the judge poll each juror. He was reportedly greeted by dozens of supportive fans upon exiting the federal courthouse. He reiterated the couple’s false claims in a written statement to the AP, adding that he was “shocked and perplexed by Coss and Sippola’s actions.” “These slanderous allegations to smear my reputation were part of their defense to redirect attention away from the federal crime of extortion,” he said. “There was no hot tub, no drugs, no nudity and nothing sexual in nature involved in my friendship with this woman. They lied about everything.”

Jesse James Says He ‘Threw Away’ A ‘Pretty Amazing Life’

‘She’s going to be hurt for a long time,’ he says of his divorce from Sandra Bullock. By Jocelyn Vena Jesse James and Sandra Bullock Photo: Jordan Strauss/ WireImage After months of speculation about his affairs and the eventual end of his marriage to Oscar winner Sandra Bullock , Jesse James sat down with “Nightline” on Tuesday night to try to clear the air. “I think out of everything, this is why I’m doing this interview the most, because you know, dealing with losing my marriage and my son and embarrassing everyone and decimating my life, but to be called a racist on top of that is … it makes me really sad,” James said, referring to photos of him dressed in Nazi regalia that were leaked shortly after it was learned he had cheated on Bullock. “I could tell by the look on my face it was a joke that was funny then, probably for a minute, but then looking at it in the context of now and in my life, it’s not funny,” he said of the photo. “There’s not a racist bone in my body.” In fact, James says that when he and Bullock were in the process of adopting a child, a son that Bullock would later adopt on her own , he says he “didn’t care what color” the baby was. And he says that seeing Bullock now with Louie, he is excited for her. “To see her in the role as mother is, like, one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. She is like a fish to water. … As soon as she put that baby into her hands it was automatic and amazing,” James said. “I found a new trust for her, like I knew she wasn’t going to leave, and our relationship blossomed.” But shortly after they met baby Louie, women began admitting to having affairs with James. “I took a pretty amazing life and amazing success and marriage … and threw it away by my own hands,” he said. “I’ve spent my whole life with the kids and with her trying to … protect her from everything, but the most hurt she’s ever been caused is by the person that wanted to protect her. It’s terrible, and she’s going to be hurt for a long time.” He says that Bullock had suspected something was wrong in the past, but he had tried to convince her otherwise. “I think she’s had her suspicions in the past, but, you know, I lied and lied my way out of it,” he said. “I lied to everyone about everything, even to myself. “When I was doing it, you know, one, I knew it was horrible, it made me feel horrible. And two, I knew I would get caught eventually, and I think I wanted to get caught,” he continued. “I know for a fact now what it was, you know. I mean, it was me trying to self-sabotage my life.” James eventually owned up to the affairs and went to rehab for sex addiction and anger issues . It was a decision that Bullock supported. “I just told her I was going to get some help and I wanted to make sure she would take care of [his daughter] Sunny,” James said. He added that Bullock was “proud” of him.
