Oscars 2019: Who Should Replace Kevin Hart?

As you may have heard by now,  Kevin Hart is a gay-hating loser who will no longer host the 2019 Academy Awards. He had agreed to do so, but then resigned from the post after refusing to apologize for a handful of inappropriate Tweets and jokes from several years ago. But we’re not here to delve into this scandal once again. We’re here to move past Kevin Hart and look forward to February 24, 2019. That’s the date on which the Oscars will air. It’s fast approaching… and there’s suddently a need for a new host. Who should step in for Hart? Our staff has hunkered down and come up with a few ideas. Which of the following candidates do you most endorse? PATTON OSWALT by Tyler Johnson Confession time: I’m a fan of Kevin Hart’s standup (his movies are a different story entirely), and when I first learned that he had been forced to step down from his gig hosting the Oscars, I was prepared to defend him. Then I actually read the remarks that had everyone so pissed off. Hart’s jabs at the LGBT community weren’t jokes; they were indications of a backward and bigoted worldview, and being a comedian doesn’t give one the freedom to hide behind a clown nose in response to every backlash. That said, it can be tough for comics these days to push the envelope, while not straying too far from the progressive political views the Academy looks for in its hosts. An opening monologue that won’t piss off the crowd or bore everyone to tears is a tricky tightrope walk, and the list of funny folk who can pull it off is a short one: And in my mind, Patton Oswalt is at the very top of that list This is an idea that was first floated by Stephen King and has since caught fire on Twitter. As King points out, Oswalt, is sharply funny, consistently unproblematic, and he knows a thing or two about film. (A bit naive of Steve to think the Academy really cares about that last part, but we see his point.) Perhaps more importantly, Patton is the king of the comedy-tragedy balancing act. After all, this is a guy who addressed the unexpected overdose death of his wife in his standup act without ever coming off as morbid or maudlin. Many Americans rightly feel that 2018 has been a year loaded with tragedy — so what better way to top it off than with the droll and bone-dry comedy of Patton Oswalt? KATE McKINNON by Hilton Hater Kate McKinnon should not host the Oscars to film some kind of quota. Kate McKinnon should host the Oscars because she is downright hilarious. Yes, it would be a very nice change of pace for a woman to step into this role, as Ellen DeGeneres took on the gig in 2014, but prior to that you would need to go back to 2001 for the last time a woman hosted solo. (Anne Hathaway shared the job with James Franco in 2011, but let’s never speak of that experiment ever again.) And, yes, in the #MeToo era, of course, Hollywood would benefit from having some estrogen on stage. But those are merely two periphery reasons why McKinnon is right for the role. Others include: she can sing, she can dance, she is NOT a late-night talk show host, she can do impressions, she’s universally liked — and did we mention that she’s hilarious? Seriously, find us one person who would object to this selection. It ought to either be McKinnon or the gayest celebrity organizers can find. Stay by your phone, Billy Eichner! ELLEN DEGENERES and THE ROCK by Simon Delott Awards shows are tricky, and the Oscars are no exception. They matter, but at the same time, we’ve all seen enough leaked Oscar slips to know that the people voting are the worst people on the planet. However, the show itself is entertaining and audiences love tuning in to watch their favorite stars in the audience. Audiences also love to see — and have opinions about — the host. Now that Kevin Hart’s role as a host has gone the way of the dodo after his “joke” about homophobic child-abuse, we need something better. Ellen and The Rock hail from both sides of the political aisle. That’s right, The Rock is a conservative, if more of a California conservative. He is currently registered as an Independent. They are both deeply charismatic, widely beloved despite political views, and incredibly famous. Full disclosure: I had considered both Ellen and The Rock separately. That was before I saw Chrissy Teigen tweet that they would make an amazing hosting team. So Chrissy deserves the credit for this suggestion. I just enthusiastically support it. You’d have an easier time listing the people who don’t like The Rock or Ellen than the ones who do. ARIANA GRANDE by Emily Trainham Kevin Hart was going to host the Oscars, but now he’s not, because it’s 2018 and homophobia isn’t cool. In trying to think of a suitable replacement for him, we have to think of popular comedians, since those are usually the types who get such a gig. So let’s see, comedians who get a lot of attention … there’s Ellen, of course, but she hosted not too long ago. There’s been a ton of talk about Louis CK and Bill Cosby lately, but, uh, they’re probably not available. Ooh, you know who else has been in the news lately who can be funny from time to time? Pete Davidson! He’s on Saturday Night Live, the kids seem to like him, he might be a fresh new pick for … oh, wait. Ariana Grande. Ariana Grande should be the new host. Sorry, Pete, for making you just a stepping stone to the real answer here, but if the Academy wants someone fresh and exciting and entertaining, Ariana is clearly the answer. She can act, she can sing, she can dance – she’s got it all. She’d bring in a whole new audience, and you know she’d have some killer jokes up her undoubtedly fashionable sleeves. Actually, why wasn’t Ariana Grande the first choice of host? Why isn’t Ariana Grande the first choice for everything? Make it so, Academy.

WELP: Kevin Hart DROPPED From Oscars Hosting Gig After Refusing To Apologize For Old Homophobic Tweets

Source: Daniel Zuchnik/Getty Images / Getty Kevin Hart Ousted As Oscars Host Over Old Tweets Kevin Hart is OUT as host of the 91st Academy Awards ceremony because of his refusal to apologize for old tweets. The comedian seemed elated to have been confirmed as the host of the February 2019 ceremony earlier this week, but things got a bit shaky for him on Thursday afternoon when old tweets and jokes of him speaking negatively about homosexuality resurfaced: I wonder when Kevin Hart is gonna start deleting all his old tweets pic.twitter.com/ZbYG6SI3Xm — Benjamin Lee (@benfraserlee) December 5, 2018 Kevin scrambled to delete the tweets in question (this is only a handful of the offenders), but it appears the damage is done. The funnyman took to his Twitter and Instagram to talk about hoe little time he had for all the animosity coming his way over the old tasteless jokes… But Kevin CLEARLY saw all the negativity he claimed to have been dodging because he popped up a few hours later with THIS to say about all the “negative people” who seem to be so angry about his past (undeleted for some strange reason) tweets and old outlook on homosexuality: And when it came to the Academy, it seemed that Kevin drew the line at apologizing for his old offensive statements. Even though the tweets are brand new news to a large sector of the population that will be watching the Oscars next February, Kevin felt that he’s made all the apologies he’ll ever make for saying the things he has, so the committee can simply find another host if that’s how they feel: Still, Kevin came back and apologized later in the evening, stating that he had made the decision to step down (even though he previously said he had been dropped from the gig) so as not to be a distraction on the big night. I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year's Oscar's….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past. — Kevin Hart (@KevinHart4real) December 7, 2018 I'm sorry that I hurt people.. I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart. Much love & appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again. — Kevin Hart (@KevinHart4real) December 7, 2018 Sheesh. Well it seems like we won’t be getting Kevin as a host this year. Seeing as how he “re-apologized” later on anyway, do you think he simply should have apologized when the Academy first asked and held on to his position as host? Daniel Zuchnik/Getty Images

Truth Or Dab: Kevin Hart And Tiffany Haddish Answer Tough Questions Or Knock Back Super Hot Wings [Video]

NEW YORK, NY – SEPTEMBER 19: Tiffany Haddish (L) and Kevin Hart attend the 2018 Urbanworld Film Festival on September 19, 2018 in New York City. (Photo by Johnny Nunez/WireImage) Night School co-stars Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish face off against increasingly hot wings as host Sean Evans asks tough questions about their personal lives, opinions, and celebrity encounters. Tiffany clearly has a higher tolerance for spicy food than Kevin does, and also displays an unusually efficient technique for getting ALL the meat off the wings. Kevin ends up electing to eat a wing rather than answer whether or not he eats…something else. Take a look: Getty/YouTube

Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart Address Their Haters Before Their New Movie Night School

Read the rest here:

Tiffany Haddish is out here working. Ever since she starred in Will Packer ’s Girl Trip, which was directed by Malcolm D Lee , she’s been everywhere. So when her tv show The Carmichael Show went off the air it was no big deal because she was about to blow all the way up. In 2018 Tiffany will appear in 4 movies, the already released Uncle Drew , Night School which hits theaters this Friday, as well as The Oath and Nobody’s Fool coming to theaters later this year. The saying goes if you ain’t got no haters you ain’t mother effing popping. Tiffany is popping that’s the reason why she has a lot of haters. Haters saying things like she is working too much, she doesn’t deserve her spot or she keeps playing the same character. Well in her new movie Night School she plays a teacher called Carrie, who is trying to earn some extra money to survive in this world by teaching a GED program at night. The movie also stars Kevin Hart , Rob Riggle And Romany Malco who completely steals the show. This movie is just what you would expect from Kevin and Tiffany a silly physical comedy with fart jokes, throw up jokes and a straight roasting session between Kev and Tiff to introduce us to her character. Night School gives us what we love about Tiffany with some brief glimpses at the range of Haddish as an actress. I sat down with Hart, who co-produced this film with Will Packer, and the woman so popping comedic legends are hating on her success. We talked about their hilarious fart scene where I asked Kevin who would he allow to fart in his face. Tiffany suggests Kevin’s wife farted in his mouth before. Hilarious. We also talked about Kevin and Tiffany’s five-year plan after a lot of bad math. For the record Think Like A Man was released in 2012. Lastly, I asked Tiffany how she ignores all the hate she gets and she revealed she got real problems to deal with not to mention how she is cashing all these checks. That’s why she was quiet when Katt Williams spouted off nonsense about her and her career. Of course, they addressed Katt’s comments during their interview with The Breakfast Club , but what about everyone else? Tiffany drops some knowledge and some jokes of course. The interview is perfect to watch just before you go see Night School in theaters everywhere on Friday, September 28th.

The Bachelor Winter Games: Ben Higgins Leaves in Tears

The Bachelor Winter Games  is more than just a way to pass the time between  Bachelor  episodes and reading each of  The Bachelor  Spoilers  that leaks. It's also a wild ride. This episode saw a very memorable  Ghost  homage on a surprisingly successful date. There was also an epic kissing contest with high stakes. But Ben Higgins realized that he was in the wrong place. After talking it over and crying over Lauren Bushnell, he decided that it was time to leave. For starters, it turns out that Dean and Lesley aren't just both beautiful — they're both pretty good with a pair of skis, blowing everyone away as they raced down the slopes. Josiah couldn't help shading Dean Unglert at little — referring to Dean having “so many women at his disposal.” It sounds like a compliment or perhaps even a neutral description, but it's to remind everyone of Dean's disastrous love triangle in  Paradise . And Clare is much harsher about it. (Oh, Deanie Babies, the Bachelor Nation is still so disappointed in you) However, Dean and Lesley won two date cards and after a lot of soul-searching, decided to hand off one of them to Kevin and Ashley. Which is how we got this: That's right, folks. Kevin Wendt and Ashley Iaconetti did a full-on  Ghost  reenactment. You'd think that a date that includes Ashley confessing that she's a virgin would be spent awkwardly, but Kevin was totally understanding. (He is, after all, Canadian — politeness is kind of their brand) That didn't stop either of them from enjoying their spin pottery date. And Ashley said that she could really see herself falling for Kevin. A lot of folks are rooting for these two. After Tiffany realizes that it was time to say goodbye, Ben Higgins started questioning whether  The Bachelor Winter Games  was really best for him at the moment. This resulted in the tearful heart-to-heart that he had with Chris Harrison, which you can see in the video below. “Coming back to a place like this really brings up a lot of weird memories.” He says that he's haunted by the “ghosts” of his past, which means that this would have made a great Halloween episode. Alas. “And then, to try to engage in relationships here, and know that the last time that I did this was one of the best moments of my life. …” Sometimes, you don't know that you're in the wrong place until you're there. “But, right here, right now, it just doesn't feel right.” “My fear is not entering into a relationship, my fear is not pursuing somebody.” But he does know what his real fear is: “My fear is that if I [were] to be broken again, I'm not full enough right now to recover from that.” We can totally understand that. You need to feel secure in yourself, emotionally. Some wounds stay raw for longer than you would think. And perhaps being on  The Bachelor Winter Games  has exacerbated that. And then he talks about what sounds like being deeply impacted by comments and fan speculation — and not only that which was hurtful or intentionally hurtful. By leaving, Ben Higgins (and Michael and Yuki) missed out on the kissing contest, which was judged by Rachel Lindsay, JoJo Fletcher, and Arie Luyendyk Jr. Which means that Dean, Luke, Josiah, and Bibiana were engaging in a makeout contest … in front of their exes. Awkward beyond reason. The best kissing was definitely Ashley and Kevin — they got a standing ovation. The worst? Josiah and Ally. Ally threw up right beforehand, and that's just not a recipe to a good kiss. Take a look at Ben's tearful conversation and decide for yourself if he was right to leave:
