Source: Sony / THE MRKT Jay Ellis is a busy busy man. Not only did he recently complete the third season of Insecure, he’s also got a few films in the works. The 36-year-old TV heartthrob is currently starring in the long awaited Top Gun sequel, “Top Gun: Maverick” and in 2019, we can expect to see him on the big screen in Escape Room . Escape Room tells the story of six strangers who find themselves in circumstances beyond their control and must use their wits to survive. What was initially a race to a huge cash prize turned into a desperate fight for their lives and according to Ellis, he loved every minute of shooting it. Escape Room will be the first time fans will get to see Ellis in an action film. According to the star, you’ll get to see him do martial arts, scale walls and so many other things we have not gotten to see him do on Insecure or The Game. (I mean, sex scenes are nice…really nice… but a fight scene? We can definitely dig that!) Source: Sony / THE MRKT Jay Ellis took a moment from his busy schedule to chat with Global Grind about the Escape Room film and who he’d choose to do an Escape Room with. He says that his very first escape room experience was after he got the role in this movie (which he shot last year so if you’re wondering, no his schedule did not interfere with Insecure ).  When asked about three celebrity friends he’d choose to help him master his escape room Jay Ellis chose: Idris Elba because he’s strong, chiseled and smart. These are all great things you’d want in someone you’re trusting your life with. John Legend is also very smart. They don’t call him the Legend for nothing. Niecy Nash will keep things fun and she’s very motivating. Motivation is key when trying to figure out puzzles and complete obstacles in an escape room. Niecy Nash is an amazing choice. When asked who he absolutely would not take on his Escape Room adventure, Jay Ellis says he’ll need to leave Neil Brown Jr. aka Chad from Insecure, at home. According to Jay, it’s much too risky. He and Neil are real live friends and they’d probably spend the entire time goofing off with each other to really get anything done. You gotta respect it. Chuck Norris Not only did Chuck Norris serve in the Air Force, but he has served as spokesman for the VA and was named the Air Force’s Veteran of the Year in 2001. It’s unclear if he won any top-secret wars using only his unparalleled martial arts skills. 4. Nate Dogg Before becoming one of the men who took hip hop to the mainstream in the 1990s, Nate Dogg was a munitions specialist in the US Marines. The late rapper once said he joined the military to “see if I was a man.” 5. Elvis Presley Elvis Presley, seen here in a 1958 photo, is perhaps the most famous celebrity veteran of all. 6. Bea Arthur The Golden Girls star listed bow and rifle hunting on her Corps qualification card, and served as a typist and truck driver from 1943-1945, when she was honorably discharged. White EMT Made Up Story About Being Robbed By Thugs New York police have charged an off-duty EMT for making up a robbery story on Christmas day. Steven Sampson claimed he was attacked for his presents by ‘thugs’ while in the Bronx reports NY Daily News . He told cops he battled the robbers, and was stabbed once in the arm before the crooks made off with $2,500 worth of Christmas gifts, which included drones, gift cards and other items, cops said. “‘Hey cracker, we’re going to take your (expletive).’ Basically, that’s what they said,” he told the station, miming the martial arts moves he used to make one of the suspect’s arms “pop.” The police have charged the shady EMT for false written statement and filing a false report. Seriously?!

You Big Dummy: MMA Fighter Arrested For Armed Robbery After Faking His Death

Did he honestly think he could fake his death and live happily ever after? MMA Fighter Fakes Death Once you fake a death, you have to keep a low profile. Some people just don’t think things through. According to NY Daily News: Mixed martial arts promoters Christos Piliafas and Scott DiPonio were shocked to learn that one of their fighters was a suspect in the holdup of a Michigan gun shop this week. After all, it was only two weeks ago that they raised more than $1,000 to help the amateur heavyweight’s family pay for his funeral. Charles Rowan, 25, didn’t die in a February car wreck while en route to his fifth bout, as his girlfriend, Rosalinda Martinez, claimed that night, according to DiPonio. The couple and a friend, Michael Bowman, were in a Gladwin courtroom Friday to hear the charges against them: armed robbery and assault with intent to murder. Each requested a court-appointed attorney. “[He] came and looked me right in the eyes and took the cash and cried and came to my house and stayed the night,” DiPonio said. Rowan, Martinez and Bowman were arraigned Friday in Gladwin District Court. They are scheduled to appear in court again April 1 and remain in the county jail, having not posted bond. According to Gladwin County Sheriff Michael Shea, Martinez called 911 after the robbery and told investigators that she, too, had been attacked. But he said her story didn’t hold up and she, Rowan and Bowman were arrested. “I thought for sure Charlie was dead. I mean, these people were hysterically crying,” said DiPonio, who gave the family $150 for expenses on the spot. Two weeks ago, Piliafas and DiPonio helped raise $1,350 in proceeds and donations through their benefit event, Fight for Charlie. A tearful Bowman showed up to collect the money. Meanwhile, Piliafas and DiPonio are planning to file a fraud claim against Rowan with the Grand Traverse County sheriff’s office. “I want to press charges to the fullest extent,” Piliafas said. “For them to do that, just makes me sick.” Looking back, Piliafas said that even though some initially questioned Rowan’s death, not much could be done about those concerns. “I had people saying this was a little bit fishy. There was no obit. There was no funeral service. But in that situation, you want to be sensitive to the family,” he said. “I didn’t know exactly how to handle it. I didn’t want to go off and say, ‘We’re not doing this. Something’s not right,’ and then have the incident having really happened.” He was dumb for faking his death, but the people who belived he was dead were even dumber.
