The former Miss Alabama USA-turned-model married the athlete at the Orange Beach United Methodist Church in Orange Beach, Alabama on Saturday, July 12, her rep confirms to Us Weekly. The blushing bride counted down the hours before saying “I do” via her Instagram on Friday. “Getting close @amberlysheltonpaperie,” Webb wrote, along with a picture of the couple’s wedding invitation. In a second photo, she showed off their wedding bands. “Ready for tomorrow! Thank you to @mascreativeconsulting.” PHOTOS: Quickest celebrity engagements Webb, 25, first made headlines while cheering on her quarterback hubby, 24, during an Alabama and Notre Dame game at the second BCS National Championship last January. As fans kept their eyes on the field, ESPN commentator Brent Musburger commented on her looks during live TV. “You quarterbacks get all the good-looking women,” he joked in the booth. Musburger later apologized, but Webb didn’t seem to mind. The attention helped her land a feature in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue that same month. In March, she accepted McCarron’s proposal. “WE’RE ENGAGEDDD!!! @10AJMcCarron,” she gushed via Twitter, along with a picture of her new diamond ring. She added: “He designed it himself.” Congrats to the beautiful couple!

Digger Phelps, a former coach and long-time college basketball analyst for ESPN, has been diagnosed with bladder cancer. The network announced the sad news this morning and added that Phelps has already undergone surgery. He will soon begin follow-up treatment near his residence in Indiana. In a statement, Phelps said that “he and his family appreciate your thoughts and prayers as he prepares for the 2013-2014 college basketball season.” The 71-year old has been with ESPN since 1993 and coached Notre Dame from 1972-1991. Our thoughts go out to him and his loved ones.
Score another point for Manti Te’o in his battle to prove that he had nothing to do with fooling America into thinking he had a girlfriend. In an interview with People , Alexandra del Pilar – who dated the Notre Dame linebacker for two months in late 2012 – says Te’o often referenced Lennay Kekua and acted every bit like someone who believed she died of leukemia on September 12. “Lennay was often brought up in conversation,” Del Pilar says . “I wanted to know about her, and how they did the long distance. He definitely [loved her].” Del Pilar went on to say she was drawn to Te’o due to his focus on “family.” “That’s what drew us together,” she explained. She also confirmed that Te’o really did receive a phone call in early December from someone claiming to be Kekua, saying she faked her own death. “I was sick to my stomach. I cried,” she says of when Te’o told her what had happened. “Nothing made sense. But since he didn’t understand it either, he told me everything he knew. “I just felt completely sorry for him because he was being accused of things he had no idea about. People were quick to jump on who he is as a person – especially after all the praise they had given him for everything he did at Notre Dame.” In a released snippet of his interview with Katie Couric, Te’o admits to lying about his girlfriend in a pair of discussions with reporters because he had just received the confusing December phone call and had no idea how to react.
