Hooters Ball Girl Tosses Fair Ball Into Stands in Spring Training

Gotta love Spring Training … when Hooters girls are acceptable stand-ins for “real” ball girls and toss fair balls into the crowd by mistake during games. This scenario happened to the clueless cutie below. We laugh, because the bleach-blonde Katy Perry Hooters knockoff seems nice, and her sheepish reaction once she realized her gaffe was cute too. Meanwhile, bunting in the ninth inning results in a MELEE because that violates an unwritten rule – even though margin of victory counts in the WBC. That’s baseball for you. Anyway, enjoy the clip! Rihanna Donates $1.75 Million to Hospital in Memory of Grandmother

Rihanna is donating $1.75 million to a Barbados hospital in memory of her dear Gran Gran Dolly, a.k.a. her late grandmother Clara “Dolly” Braithwaite. The 24-year-old broke the news of her beloved grandma’s death back in June via Twitter: “Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you.” The singer visited the hospital Saturday with her mother Monica Fenty and Dolly’s husband Lionel alongside her to formally present the generous gift. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown will be renamed the Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine. Not a bad legacy. Rihanna’s donation has paid for vital pieces of equipment. In a statement to E! News, she said, “This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program.” “This was all done to save lives or at least extend them.” Rihanna also honored Dolly in another way this summer. One of the many Rihanna tattoos was a giant Isis in her memory after Dolly lost her battle to cancer.

Ryan Freel Found Dead; Ex-MLB Star Commits Suicide 36

Former Major League Baseball player Ryan Freel was found dead Saturday at the age of 36. He died of a self-inflicted shotgun blast in his Jacksonville home. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was investigating the death as a suicide. The scrappy, versatile Freel played eight seasons in the majors from 2001-09 with Toronto, Cincinnati, Baltimore, the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City. After appearing in nine games with Toronto in 2001, he played for the Reds from 2003-08 before spending 2009 with the Orioles, Cubs and Royals. “The Reds family is deeply saddened to hear of the death of Ryan Freel,” the team said. “His teammates and fans loved him for how hard he played, and he loved giving back to the community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.” It’s unclear why Freel tragically took his own life. Freel was a career .268 hitter in 594 big league games, stealing 143 bases and splitting time between second, third and all three outfield positions.

Kate Middleton, Prince William to Spend Christmas With Her Family

Kate Middleton and Prince William will spend the Christmas holiday with the pregnant Duchess’ family in a major break from tradition, according to reports. After suffering from acute morning sickness in the first weeks of her pregnancy, they opted for the comfort of Kate’s family, a St. James Palace spokesman said. Queen Elizabeth II, William’s grandmother, approved of the idea. Kate Middleton and her husband will visit her hometown , Bucklebury to celebrate the holiday “privately with the Middleton family,” according to the Palace. Since his marriage to Kate in April 2011 and even prior to that, William has made no secret of the fact that things will not always be done in traditional fashion. In some ways they are acting like any other young, married couple, alternating between both sets of families during the holiday season. Hard to argue with that. Moreover, William is also particularly close to his in-laws, and this is a signal he wants to involve them as much as possible in his married life with Kate Middleton. In another break with age-old custom, the couple’s first-born child will be the heir(ess) to the throne behind Princes Charles and William, regardless of gender. A Palace source says the couple will visit Sandringham, Norfolk, where the Queen, husband Prince Philip and the rest of the royals are gathering later next week.

Danny Boyle Says No to James Bond

Danny Boyle solicited the help of 007 in his Olympic spectacle last summer in London, but that doesn’t mean he is on track for a future Bond director gig. Skyfall actor Daniel Craig was a highlight of the opening of the London Olympics along none other than H.M. The Queen, raising rumors that he would take the helm of a future Bond pic. Asked on BBC Radio 4 if he’d be into doing a full-length Bond, Boyle said, “No, I’m not very good with huge amounts of money.” Boyle told the station that the 2000 feature The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio made him averse to taking on big budget movies. Don’t trust me with huge amounts of money anybody,” he said, according to BBC . “I did a film, The Beach, which was a proper Hollywood scale budget and it didn’t suit me. Certain people can handle that and I love watching those kinds of films, but I’m much better with a smaller amount of money and trying to make it go a long way.” Still, Boyle oversaw the London Olympic Opening Ceremonies which reportedly cost $42.3 million, though still shy of The Beach ‘s reported $50 million budget. The feature made just under $40 million in the U.S. but managed to nab just over $144 million worldwide. Boyle pulled-off what many in the U.K. never would have imagined happening when he persuaded Queen Elizabeth II to “act” along with Daniel Craig and “appearing” to jump out of a helicopter with 007. Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire won multiple Oscars in 2009 including Best Picture. His next pic is Trance , starring James McAvoy. The latest Bond pic, Skyfall has cumed $918 million worldwide. Kate Middleton Nurse Suicide: Jacintha Saldanha Photo Released, Investigation Underway

The first photo of Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse who committed suicide after falling for a prank call involving Kate Middleton, has been released by Scotland Yard. Saldanha passed away hours after being duped by the Kate Middleton prank call , in which two Australian DJ’s pretended to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. Scotland Yard sent out the haunting snap-shot of Saldanha, the nurse on-call at King Edward VII Hospital in London, and whose demise is now under investigation. The 46-year-old’s death is currently listed as “unexplained.” An autopsy will be held next week, according to authorities. Saldanha’s family said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Jacintha. We would ask that the media respect out privacy at this difficult time.” The Australian radio station behind the call also issued a statement Saturday, stating it did nothing wrong and there was no way to have foreseen the tragic outcome. The two DJ’s have suspended themselves from the air. Police in London have contacted their Australian counterparts about speaking with the two radio personalities, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, about the case. While the station claims it did nothing wrong, Greig and Christian’s call, which helped reveal details about the Duchess of Cambridge’s health, was certainly marginal. Nick Kaldas, deputy commissioner for New South Wales Police said: “It hasn’t been indicated to us that an offense has occurred and they have not actually asked for anything yet. “They’ve simply touched base, let us know of their interest and they will get back to us if they actually want something done. Nothing has been requested of us yet.” Kate Middleton Prank Call “As our colleagues in London continue to examine events leading up to the death of Jacintha Saldanha, we will be providing them with whatever assistance is required.” For what it’s worth, the DJs have so far remained tight-lipped after the incident, but are receiving “intensive psychological counseling” to deal with the tragedy. A spokeswoman said that Australian the pair would be speaking with the media, but when would depend on their state of mind, which was described as “fragile.”

WATCH: Scenes From Stillman’s Damsels In Distress Become Aitken’s ‘Weekend Lover’ Music Video

Whit Stillman’s Damsels in Distress is about to get some additional international mileage thanks to the release of the  official video for Victoria Aitken’s “Weekend Lover.”  The video for the song — whic hit No. 10 on the U.K. dance charts and is now catching fire in Germany — is composed entirely of scenes from Stillman’s movie about a group of trend-setting women (led by Greta Gerwig ) at a boorish East-coast college whose romantic entanglements upend their friendship and their lives. (“Weekend Lover” is featured on the soundtrack of   Damsels in Distress , which was released on DVD at the end of July.) “It’s weird how the story I tell in my song fits his film almost exactly,” Aitken told Movieline . “My song is about me as a damsel in distress.” The singer/songwriter, who is the daughter of former Conservative British Parliament member Jonathan Aitken,  wrote the track after a phone call with “You’re Beautiful” singer James Blunt during which she complained about the state of her love life. “I told him, ‘It’s a disaster. I don’t want to be a weekend lover,'” Aitken said. “And then I thought, ‘Oh my God, that’s great.'” Aitken,  said that the video was put together by “Whit’s team and editors at my label, Black Hole Records,” which is also the home of superstart DJ Tiesto. The Londoner is also about to release “Wasting Away,”  a collaboration with reggae artist Spragga Benz that, she said was written in commemoration of  the partying in London and Jamaica that took place after Usain Bolt’s Olympics 100-meter gold-medal win. No stranger to tabloid attention, Aitken also told us that she has the perfect song should Prince Harry’s nude Las Vegas pictures scandal inspire a comedy movie, or even a music video: her single “Queen of the House.” “It’s how anyone can be queen or king of the dance floor,” she said. “Harry was king of the house in Vegas,” Aitken said.  “He looks great naked, and I can’t understand why the media is saying he embarrassed the royal family.  If anything, he’s glamorized them.” I’m inclined to agree.  I mean, didn’t I just see photos of Queen Elizabeth in a hoodie? Watch Your Back, Dame Judi Dench: Boyle Says Queen Elizabeth Is A Good Actor – She and James Bond ‘Got Along Very Well’

If Queen Elizabeth ever tires of the throne, she has a future in acting. Filmmaker Danny Boyle, who directed an inspired and beautifully surreal opening ceremony for the XXX Olympiad in London, told NBC’s Meredith Vieira that the Royal was “a good actor” for her pre-recorded segment with current James Bond Daniel Craig . “She was very gracious in giving us access,” Boyle told Vieira when she asked him how he managed to get the Queen to participate in what is proving to be the most talked-about portion of his Isles of Wonder production. “She’s very sharp,” Boyle told Vieira. “You didn’t have to tell her anything twice.” Boyle also noted that “Her and James Bond got along very well” and that Craig — who collected the queen for a helicopter ride that resulted in the duo’s stunt doubles parachuting into Olympic Stadium — gave an extremely nuanced glance as Elizabeth passed him in one scene that registered the momentous melding of fact and fiction. “Sleight, surreal, eccentricity. That’s what we’re good at, really,” Boyle told Vieira of his movie-making imprint on the London games. We have to agree. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter . Follow Movieline on
