Karma! Court Date Finally Set For Rachel Dolezal’s Welfare Fraud Case

Source: @KREMTaylor / NewsOne/Twitter It’s no secret that  Rachel Dolezal is accustomed to trying to pull the wool over folks eyes. Now while lying about your race isn’t against the law, lying to the Washington State welfare office most definitely is. And a judge has had enough of her shenanigans, finally setting a court date for the former head of the Washington NAACP. According to FOX 28 Spokane News , on Friday Judge Michelle Szambelan , who was visibly frustrated, set the new trial date for March 4, stressing that the case had dragged since Dolezal was arrested last May. As we previously reported , Dolezal, who changed her name to Nkechi Diallo , was charged with first degree theft by welfare fraud, perjury in the second degree and false verification for public assistance. While Dolezal pleaded not guilty, state investigators claim that between August 2015 to December 2017, the 41-year-old claimed she was living on just a few hundred dollars a month and needed to receive government assistance for food and childcare. Yet, the prosecutors believes that was a lie. Apparently, she earned more than $80,000 from her memoir  In Full Color and other funds from speaking engagements. If found guilty, Dolezal could face up to 15 years in prison. All we can say is this… RELATED NEWS: Rachel Dolezal Is The White Face Of Welfare People Refuse To Acknowledge Not Today Satan! David Eason: Bird Box is Racist! Netflix is Trying to Control Your MIND!

So David Eason isn’t all there, is he? And we’re not being mean by saying that — it’s just the truth. The guy is very clearly unhinged these days, and as time goes on, he gets worse and worse. Normal people don’t get investigated by the Secret Service , OK? They just don’t. To recap everything real quick, David is losing his mind down on the swamp he shares with Jenelle Evans. In the past few months, Jenelle’s called 911 to claim that he assaulted her , he’s displayed a Confederate flag in several states across the continental U.S., and he seemingly threatened to kill the president. He’s shown off the many, many weapons he keeps in his home, including poison darts, and he’s made it clear that he’s not afraid to use any of those weapons on anyone who dares step foot on his property. He’s being sued for towing a handicapped man’s truck and damaging it , and also he played with a dead animal on Snapchat . 2018 really was not a great year for him. And although we’re only a few days into 2019, it looks like his reign of stupidity will continue. It turns out that he and Jenelle, along with the rest of the world, watched that new Netflix movie, Bird Box . You know, the one where Sandra Bullock has emotional problems and then some monsters come into being that make you kill yourself if you look at them. Lots of people have gotten lots of different messages from the movie — some people think it’s about God, others think it’s about mental illness. But David? Well, David thinks the movie is Netflix’s attempt at brainwashing you into thinking that white people are bad. “Bird Box?” he wrote on Facebook. “You mean a bunch of crazy white people and two flawless black guys?” “Its mind control, they want u to hate the white man!” It’s sort of painful how dumb that is, isn’t it? Like he actually believes that because a movie has two likable characters played by black actors, the movie is an attempt to make everyone “hate the white man.” It’s just insane, and luckily, many people who commented on his post thought the same. “Omg the film had nothing what so ever to do with race c’mon dude,” one person told him. Another broke the news that “Reviewing movies may not be the gig for you. Just keep moving, sir.” One particularly exasperated follower of his wrote “Oh my God I can’t I’m so done with this f-cking racist motherf-cker.” But David was prepared to defend his theory. When someone asked him if he was racist, he replied with “Umm no, the movie is racist in case you didnt read my post.” He asked another confused commenter “How do you not see that every white man is the bad guy in this movie?” We’d argue that “the bad guy” in the movie is the monsters that make people kill themselves, but some not-so-nice characters were white dudes, sure. Because movies have characters, and characters are played by actors, and actors have races, and sometimes a person of a certain race plays a certain role without their race having anything at all to do with anything. A crazy notion, huh? But it’s true! Bad guys in movies are played by all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds, and the vast majority of the time, it’s not because the people making the movie are trying to control your mind. Just read a book or find a hobby or something , David. This is just too much. View Slideshow: Jenelle Evans: My Husband Is NOT Trying to Get Me Fired!

The Voice Accused of Racism, Rigging Season 15 Winner

As you may recall from our The Voice finale recap , the Season 15 winner was nothing if not a controversial choice. (Just a head's up: the tweets we've harvested from the internet definitely contain spoilers on that front) The fact that the contestants who had been hitting it out of the park week after week were suddenly falling behind struck viewers as odd. Some suspected a conspiracy — rigging — at the network. Others suspected that racism was responsible. Some thought that it was both. It's clear that Twitter would have chosen a very different winner than The Voice did. And a lot of folks are so upset that they've vowed to never again allow the NBC competition series to darken their screens. 1. The Voice announced its Season 15 winner … Chevel Shepherd, a white teenage yodeler, won. Viewers could not believe their eyes or ears. 2. Even Sunny Hostin couldn’t contain her shock Some would say that this is the most in-touch with Americans that any The View host has been in a while. 3. The results were difficult to miss A lot of people felt that, consciously or unconsciously, The Voice’s winners won because of their race. 4. Others washed their hands of the show A lot of people vowed to stop watching The Voice. We’ll see how many stick to that promise. 5. Did the audience’s votes even count? A lot of reality competitions are “rigged” in that the show will maneuver some contestants to stay longer. It sounds like people think that The Voice is straight-up lying about caring about the audience’s votes, which is another matter entirely. 6. Conspiracy theory or hard truth? Racism is alive and well in America. Did it play a role in handing Chevel an undeserved victory? View Slideshow

Mia Love Pleads With GOP To Connect With African Americans After Getting Dragged By Trump

Read the original:

B lack Republican Rep. Mia Love of Utah, still licking her wounds after losing a re-election bid to Congress, urged her party to improve its relationship with African Americans after President Trump showed his contempt for her and the Black community through his policies. See Also: Mia Love Whines People Don’t Like Her Because She’s Black, Not Because She Supported A Racist “We have especially failed to bring our message to, and connect with, women and racial minorities. And we have effectively written off cities as Democratic strongholds. Our nation is poorer for it,” she penned in an open letter published in the Washington Post on Wednesday. Black Republican Mia Love Suddenly Realizes Trump Is Trash After Losing Re-Election https://t.co/N3ZHLSBjK1 via @newsone — brandonallison (@brandonkallison) November 26, 2018 Love has been seemingly everywhere recently, on somewhat of an unofficial national tour , talking about how she was mistreated by Trump and Democrats because of her race. She lost her election in a close race for a third term in Congress. It’s unclear what the political future holds for Love, who made history as the first and only Black Republican woman in Congress. Many in the GOP hoped that her early political success would help to bring racial diversity to the party. But the Trump-dominated GOP is an inhospitable place to most African Americans. Trump publicly showed his contempt for Love  the day after the midterms . “Mia Love gave me no love and she lost,” Trump said mocking the congresswoman, naming her among incumbent House members who didn’t shower him with praise and were defeated. “Too bad. Sorry about that, Mia.” Republicans remained silent while Trump defended white supremacist violence in Charlottesville and labeled Haiti and nations in Africa “ shithole countries. ” The GOP also stood by while their leader claimed falsely that his policies improved the lives of Black people. The president’s policies have in fact been detrimental to the Black community. In education, for example, the president has looked for ways to cut funding to public schools. This comes as many Black children attend schools in buildings that should be condemned, like many found in Detroit , and schools that lack the resources that wealthy school districts offer their students. Moreover, rather than reducing bias in schools, Education Secretary  Betsy DeVos  approved new guidance, which took effect in March, that permits investigators in her department to disregard civil rights cases . Love urged the party to change course. “We must listen to their experiences, visit them in their comfort zones and take their priorities to heart. Our policy implementations must be personal — not transactional,” she wrote. But it’s unlikely that Republican leaders are paying attention to her. Light Skin Versus Dark Skin: Colorism; Still Hurting The Black Community {OPINION}

Source: Delmaine Donson / Getty Colorism: “prejudice or discrimination against individuals with a dark skin tone, typically among people of the same ethnic or racial group.” Remember “ Dark Girls” ? The documentary aired on the OWN network in 2011.   I believe the documentary highlighted some of the issues of colorism in the black community. It shined on the “Dark” skin girls experience.  Listening to the women that shared similar stories as mine, but from another point of view. FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM “Mellow Yellow!” “White girl!” “Yella bitch!” “You not black!” “Your momma or daddy white?” “You’re too light.” “I like you because of your skin color.” “You’ll win because you’re light skin.” “You dance white!” “You talk white!”  I’ve heard it all, I was teased and still teased. Dating While Light: In high school I was approached  by a guy who said he gave me a double take because I was  light. Now if you know me, I’ve been more involved with light skin men. Not because I don’t like other guys of different complexions or races. I’ve just been approached more by those guys.  I’m now instantly turned off by guys that say they love my complexion or “our skin tones look good together”.  I’ve had white men tell me, “you’re not too black but you’re cute for whatever you are.” Let’s not forget the white women that looked at me with these piercing looks because  I was in a club on Washington Ave in Saint Louis, MO and a white guy was talking to me. We exchanged numbers and I instantly felt like “that black girl”. You’re either not black enough or too black. Awhile back, I sat down to grab a bite to eat and drink with a good friend that is a white male , that I’ve known for about 15 years at the time. We laughed, we hugged, and we enjoyed ourselves. I assume I was mistaken for being Hispanic because one of the waiters came up and told him I was “trouble” , whatever that meant. My friend and I continued our conversation, we caught up the family then we hit the topic about how interracial couples are looked at in all environments; the privilege versus non-privilege ,   and how complexions are what separate Black Americans. I told him later I felt like the more we talked and laughed we were being observed. No one knew we were friends that haven’t seen one another in a very long time and always enjoyed being around one another.  You can say we dated, briefly. He realized some White Americans didn’t agree with the idea of interracial couples. I remember us sitting at a bar in the Saint Louis City area. We were talking, as I watch him get distracted by a man sitting behind me. He was starting to get upset and I eventually got him to calm down, but that’s when I told him, everyone hasn’t adapted to change. People will make faces and have their opinions, but we have to ignore the ignorance. My daughter’s father is biracial and both of my parents are Black, she is very light, and she has the same name as her cousin but it is spelled differently. These two are different complexions and when they were younger the kids would call them the Black one and the White one. Luckily another kid stepped in and changed that, now they are used their initials to identify the one they want. The idea that kids decided to separate them by color is very crazy, but adults do it too. Sign Up For Our Newsletter! Close Thank you for subscribing! Human beings created racism”. The human race is what allowed colorism to pin people of lighter and darker complexions against one another. We then allowed ourselves to create animosity towards one another, by how one person treats or accepts another person. I’ve been in situations where I was treated unfairly by a person that’s darker than me, I later found out in conversation , that person was unfairly treated by someone lighter complexion. This created a downward spiral of aimless retaliation. No matter who I date, I’m Black. Many would disagree or say I can’t be “Pro-Black”, but the definition of being pro is “in favor of”; yes , I’m in favor of Black males, I’m not against. I can date and still represent myself as a woman of color. Even if it’s a “ Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” moment or step in the room with my beautiful family members of beautiful hues of Black. Yes, I agree with Jane Elliot, “God created one race, THE HUMAN RACE. Human beings created racism”. Then I also agree with Issa Rae, “I’m rooting for everybody Black”, because I’m rooting that we understand our greatness no matter what. Tread Lightly, Ponytail: Ariana Grande Is Looking Suspiciously Tan, While Using AAVE And Folks Have Questions…

Source: NBC / Getty Fans Are Accusing Ariana Grande Of Using A Blaccent And Blackface Ariana Grande’s “Thank You, Next” recently blew up the internet — but not without controversy. Folks are taking notice that even though the video is giving us homages of several different hit teen movies, one thing doesn’t change throughout the visual; Ariana’s extremely tan skin. Ariana has been seemingly tanning for a minute (it was even apparent at Aretha’s homegoing service ), but this may be the darkest we’ve seen her. This image, along with how differently she spoke in a recent Billboard interview is raising brows. While skimming through old photos of herself, Ariana seems to be getting sassy and using AAVE. Did she always speak like this? Hit the 2:25 mark to see what folks are pointing out. Hmmm. Her accent. I'm sorry but she's been coming off as so fake lately I'm DONE pic.twitter.com/6EoC0w8paA — jeremy (@gagasbaristaa) December 5, 2018 This was just the beginning of the discussion. Ariana was raised in Boca Raton, Florida and her family is Italian according to her bio. Her skin never tanned this dark when she was younger. 62 Writers From Lena Waithe’s ‘Black Women Who Brunch’ Talk #BlackGirlMagic In Hollywood

Source: Morgan Lieberman / Getty Some boomin’ #BlackGirlMagic… The Hollywood Reporter Features “Black Women Who Brunch” Lena Waithe’s collective of black female writers in Hollywood is being positively profiled. Black Women Who Brunch was started by Waithe, writer Nkechi Okoro Carroll of the CW’s ““All American” and Erika Johnson of OWN’s “Queen Sugar” in 2014. The entertainment networking group is comprised of nearly 80 members who meet monthly for potlucks. 62 of said members recently gathered to discuss navigating the rampant racism and sexism in Hollywood and the results were glorious. The ladies told The Hollywood Reporter about the inequality they face… “We have such little room for error. We have to be exceptional. Those writers who always move up despite being ‘just OK?’ None of them are Black women. If a White male staff writer is bad, it’ll never keep those in power from hiring another White guy. I’ve heard people say that they ‘tried’ to hire diverse, but the Black writer they hired didn’t work out, so they never hired a Black person again. Incredible.”—Marquita Robinson, co-producer on “Glow” Britt Matt, executive story editor, A.P. Bio (NBC) Before anyone even reads your material, you’re often already placed in a box or categorized based on your race and gender. Some showrunners won’t read you unless they’re looking for a writer that fits your demographic. Pilar Golden, story editor, God Friended Me (CBS) In most rooms, there is only one of “us,” either male or female. When there is only one slot, you, along with every writer of color at every agency or unsigned, are vying for that. and also about how this group’s practice of kinship over competition has helped them thrive. According to the ladies BWWB has helped them book gigs, managers and agents and provided them a sisterhood. Cynthia Adarkwa, staff writer, In the Vault (Complex Networks) Trying to traverse this unique career can at times be such a s***storm. With these women, I’m able to air frustrations and talk strategy in a safe and judgment-free zone. I’ve bothered Erika Johnson quite a few times about career moves (sorry girl, but also thank you so much). It’s been priceless and keeps me going on the hardest days. Kibuka Many of its members were responsible for helping to facilitate much of my incremental progress toward finally becoming a TV staff writer, such as guiding me in my management/agency search, helping with targeted prep for showrunner meetings and, most important, being an empathetic body of solace and strength when navigating the highs and lows of the creative process. Stacey Evans Morgan, consulting producer, Family Time (Bounce TV) Iron sharpens iron, and when we come together to break bread, it’s comforting to know that there is a fellow sister scribe who has your back. The job information shared is also amazing, as one member may have the inside scoop on a staffing opportunity, and the ability to put in a good word with a showrunner on your behalf. It’s great to see black women kinship being promoted especially in such an epic way. The “Black Women Who Brunch” feature was The Hollywood Reporter’s biggest shoot EVER. Read the full story here.
