Over the course of the next six decades, the younger De Niro rose to become one of the most acclaimed actors in the history of Hollywood, as well as a paycheck player seemingly willing to star in anything. The legendary British director Michael Powell ( The Red Shoes , The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp ) had been friends with Martin Scorsese for over a decade by 1988. Scorsese idolized Powell, and it appears that reverence was reciprocated in a letter Powell sent regarding an epic Scorsese-penned script that would be released two years later as Goodfellas , the same year Powell died. Closing Night at Tribeca: Edward Burns Talks The ‘Liberating’ Independence of Newlyweds

Despite debuting six films at the Tribeca Film Festival during its 10 years of existence, the fest is not Edward Burns’ personal screening room. Newlyweds , though — the sixth Burns film to premiere at Tribeca, and the closing night selection for the 2011 fest — just might be his most Tribeca-y film yet, and not only because it features ample shout-outs to festival sponsors Heineken, Stoli and Cadillac.

This weekend, Helen Mirren, at the age of 65, will become the ninth oldest host in the history of Saturday Night Live .
