Caitlyn Jenner was honored at the 2015 ESPY Awards on Wednesday night. The transgender star gave a moving speech in which she urged listeners to accept others for who they are, joking (or not) that she's never felt more “pressure” in her life than she did while choosing her awards show outfit. This movement is “not just about one person; it's about thousands of people,” Caitlin said on stage. “It's not just about me. It's about all of us accepting one another. We're all different. That's not a bad thing. It's a good thing. “And while it may not be easy to get past the things you always don't understand, I want to prove that it is absolutely possible, if we only do it together.” Jenner has received nothing but praise for the speech, though she told ABC's Robin Roberts afterward that it was quite the challenge to get through. It “wasn’t easy,” Caitlyin said, eyes watering. “It’s great to be in a position where myself and my family have been so supportive of what is happening. “You know, my kids are great. Christian Audigier – the designer best known for his work with the Ed Hardy and Von Dutch labels – has passed away at the age of 57. Audigier had been battling bone cancer since 2012. Despite his illness, however, friends and co-workers say that because he remained so vibrant and ambitious in his final years, they often forgot he was sick, and his death came as something of a shock. Audigier’s friend and longtime publicist Michele Elyzabeth issued a statement reading, “I just heard the news and I am truly devastated. Christian was an incredibly brilliant man. He will be missed.” The Ed Hardy label and its signature line of t-shirts became wildly popular in the late 2000’s and early ’10s. So much so that in 2011, Audigier was able to sell the brand for $62 million and stay on as its chief designer. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, Audigier began to show signs of illness. In 2012, he revealed that he was suffering from MDS, the same year that Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts was diagnosed with the disease . The years that followed held many ups and downs, and there were times when it looked as though Audigier would beat the disease. Fortunately, in addition to his iconic work in the fashion industry, Audigier leaves behind as his legacy the awareness and millions of dollars he helped raise for MDS and cancer patients. Former Good Morning America host Joan Lunden was diagnosed with breast cancer back in June and in the months since, the beloved journalist has shared frequent updates on her treatment and served as an inspiration for fans whose lives have been impacted by the disease. Today, Lunden debuted her shaved-head look (she took matters into her own hands, rather than waiting for her hair to fall out from chemotherapy) on the cover of People magazine. More importantly, however, she shared her candid, stirring thoughts on her battle with cancer with a bracingly honest interview. “I could do nothing but that’s certainly not in my personality,” Lunden says. “I was handed an opportunity to learn everything I can about this to try and help others.” Joan opened up about her conversations with former GMA colleague and fellow cancer survivor Robin Roberts , who influenced Lunden’s decision to shave her head: “Robin told me that waiting for your hair to fall out is excruciating. So I didn’t want to wait.” “I’m almost reluctant to say it because it sounds superficial, but when you lose your hair, it just affects the way you look at yourself in the mirror. You feel less feminine, pretty, or desirable, and that’s a hard thing to go through.” A hard thing to go through, and an aspect of treatment that many avoid talking about for fear of sounding vain. On the same day Jennifer Aniston and company staged a Friends reunion on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Reese Witherspoon also went back in time. But she didn’t do so just for humor. Instead, the Oscar winner dressed as Elle Woods (her beloved character in Legally Blonde) to support a four-year old fan with cancer. Holding up a handmade sign on Instagram, the actress explained: “This is for one of the strongest little four-year-olds I can imagine. Will – I hear that you’re fighting so hard and strong against cancer and that in the hospital you’ve been watching a lot of Legally Blonde and loving it. I hope it makes you laugh!” Witherspoon continued: “I wanted you to know that I made this sign in your honor—and I’m sending a big big hug and my hope and prayers. Before Kaley Cuoco married Ryan Sweeting , the actress says she warned her husband-to-be that she has several other loves in her life: her three rescue pit bulls. Her affection for her dogs led Kaley to respond on Twitter yesterday to a Time magazine article detailing the scars and and injuries suffered by a 3-year-old girl following a horrific pit bull attack: “Many of u asked if I read the Time magazine article about ‘killer pit bulls,'” Cuoco tweeted. “I just did. I have to take a Twitter break. I can’t stomach this anymore.” The Time article stemmed from an incident in Jackson, MS, in which a woman was asked to escort her granddaughter from a KFC restaurant, as the young girl’s facial scarring and eye patch were bothering the other patrons. The article cited some alarming statistics about the breed, including the facts that pit bulls account for 68 percent of all dog attacks and 52 percent of all dog-related deaths. Kaley has yet to refute the specific claims made by Time , but speaking about pit bulls during a recent appearance on Ellen , Cuoco remarked, “I love them. Joan Lunden has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The long-time Good Morning America anchor (1980-1997) revealed the news today on that same program to Robin Roberts , a breast cancer survivor herself. “I have shaped my career around health and wellness advocacy so it seemed natural to share my story,” Lunden said. “I’ve started chemotherapy and while I don’t know how I’ll look and feel down the road, I am assuming the best because that is how I live my life.” The reporter’s treatment will also include a lumpectomy and radiation. She’s expected to make a full recovery. The diagnosis came as the result of an ultrasound during Lunden’s yearly mammogram. “I knew the minute the doctor came in the door,” Lunden’s shared. “I could tell by her demeanor. ‘You have breast cancer.’ The words are so surreal.” She added that her husband and seven children have been by her side this whole time. And she also published a blog post this morning, making a reference to her late father, who worked as a cancer surgeon. “I knew that he would want me to use this experience as an opportunity to spread the word about how important it is to get screened for all types of cancers and for women to do self-breast exams,” Lunden wrote . “Early detection is so crucial, I consider myself fortunate that I found this in the early stages and the prognosis is so promising… “I am so thankful to have the support, wisdom, and guidance from all my doctors and the loving support of my family and my friends. I know I have a challenge ahead of me in this journey, however I have chosen to take it as an opportunity to fulfill my father’s legacy and try to inspire others to protect their health.” We send Lunden our very best wishes. Samantha Harris is safe and in seemingly good spirits after undergoing a double mastectomy this week. The former Dancing with the Stars co-host, who opened up in April after her breast cancer diagnosis , Tweeted an update to fans today that included a note of gratitude for her doctors. “Made it thru grueling double mastectomy #surgery. Thanks to all of my amazing surgical team,” Harris wrote online. She also joked about her the surgical lines on her chest, referring to the scars as “art.” Harris found a lump in her right breast in a routine self-examination last fall. She has two daughters – Josselyn, 6, and Hillary, 3 – and said she and her husband struggled with how to break the news to them. “The day we found out while it was still fresh in our minds, we made a video,” Harris said. “I don’t know if we’ll end up showing it to them, but at least we have the option We send this brave star our very best.
