Source: Gus Stewart / Getty Singer Jessie J Reveals She Can’t Have Children During a recent performance in London, England Jessie J revealed a highly personal detail about herself. The singer told the crowd at the Royal Albert Hall that she is unable to have children . “So four years ago, I was told that I couldn’t have children, and it’s OK, I’m going to have children, trust me. When the doctor told me, my reaction was, ‘Oh hell nooooooo.’” “And I don’t tell you guys for sympathy, I’m one of millions of women, and of men, that have gone through this and will go through this, and it can’t become something that defines us. But, I wanted to write this song for myself in my moment of pain and of sadness. But, also to give myself joy and give other people something that they can listen to in that moment when it gets really hard,” she said. Boyfriend Channing Tatum was looking on during the performance and gushed about his girl via social media. “This woman just poured her heart out on stage at the Royal Albert Hall,” he tweeted. “Whoever was there got to witness something special. Adele’s ‘Live At Royal Albert Hall’: No Flash, Plenty Of Substance

Adele’s live concert film — due November 29 — is a straightforward affair, which is quite perfect, actually. By James Montgomery Adele Photo: Jon Furniss/ WireImage There is something to be said about a film that delivers exactly what it promises. And Adele’s brand-new “Live at the Royal Albert Hall” concert flick does exactly that. There are no backstage vignettes, biographic set pieces or interviews with breathless fans. Instead, as the title implies, there is just Adele, live at the Royal Albert Hall (or, as she puts it, “Royal Albert F—ing Hall”). Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that. Because rather than fill 90-odd minutes with artfully acute black-and-white montages or various bits of fly-on-the-wall ephemera, director Paul Dugdale makes the very wise decision to feature nothing more than Adele’s bright, brilliant face, her contagious cackle, her rather impressive grasp of profanity and, of course, that voice. It’s the catalyst behind her massive 21 album (10 million sold worldwide!) and the entire Adele sensation, really. And for those fans yet to see her live, thanks to ongoing vocal issues , that’s really all they could ask for. Because “Live,” which hits stores November 29, presents Adele at the height of her powers (and humors), onstage for an emotional homecoming show at one of the planet’s truly iconic venues (“I’ve seen the Spice Girls here and Enrique Iglesias here!” she gushes). Filmed less than two months ago — which may explain the lack of bells and whistles — it is a simple, straightforward, almost Spartan concert film, the kind of thing you’d watch on PBS (and not in movie theaters worldwide, which fans will get the chance to do ). While that may sound like a criticism, it strangely works in this context, mostly because it lets Adele shine. She sings the hell out of songs like “Hometown Glory,” “I’ll Be Waiting,” “Turning Tables” and “Chasing Pavements,” breaks down in tears following a truly epic “Someone Like You,” and vamps through “Rumor Has It.” She goes huge on “Set Fire to the Rain,” belts out Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” lilts through a fizzy cover of the Steeldrivers’ “If It Hadn’t Been for Love” and, in a truly powerful moment, dedicates her version of Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love” to the late Amy Winehouse. Of course, there are also the lighter moments, like how she endlessly drinks warm honey out of a mug with a Dachshund printed on the front, expresses her sheer amazement at playing a venue the caliber of the Royal Albert Hall (“I’m sh–ting myself!” is how she puts it), dishes on former flames, professes her love for Dolly Parton, continuously waves to fans in the audience (even when she’s singing a crushing breakup tune) and laughs her way through a false start of “Take It All” (“That was a sh– note; let’s start it again”). And “Live At the Royal Albert Hall” presents it all. In a lot of ways, it comes about as close as any concert film to replicating the experience of attending a real concert. In the screening I attended Tuesday, I actually had to remind myself not to clap at the conclusion of a couple songs. I’m not making that up, either (though it would make a nice front-of-box quote). And in that regard, it is a tremendous success; you definitely get the full experience. Adele is luminous, compelling, funny and profane throughout, and like I said, her voice is in tiptop shape. So if you’re in the 90 percent of fans who own 21 but have yet to see her live, you’re definitely going to love it. If you were expecting high art, best to look elsewhere. Then again, it’s not like the title of the film didn’t give you ample warning. Have you seen Adele live? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! Related Artists Adele

Adele Retakes #1 Slot On Billboard

Christian rockers Casting Crowns, R&B singer Joe debut in top 10. By Gil Kaufman Adele Photo: Jon Furniss/ WireImage She may be on vocal rest , but Adele has something to shout about this week, as her unstoppable 21 will once again retake the #1 spot on the Billboard 200. According to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, despite a 5 percent drop in sales last week, the album sold nearly 106,000 copies, helping the British crooner pass the four million mark while never dropping below the #3 spot and notching 13 non-consecutive weeks at #1. Christian rockers Casting Crowns are just behind at #2 with their latest, Come to the Well, which moved 99,000 copies. It is one of only two debuts in the top 10, which also includes R&B singer Joe ‘s The Good, the Bad, the Sexy (#8, 33,000). The rest of the top 10 is filled with albums that suffered double-digit sales losses: Scotty McCreery , Clear as Day (#3, 57,000, down 36 percent); Evanescence (#4, 40,000, down 69 percent); Tony Bennett , Duets II (#5, 39,000, down 29 percent); Lil Wayne , Tha Carter IV (#6, 35,000, down 22 percent); Lady Antebellum , Own the Night (#7, 34,000, down 27 percent), Five Finger Death Punch , American Capitalist (#9, 29,000, down 68 percent) and Lauren Alaina , Wildflower (#10, 26,000, down 63 percent). The next-highest debut is by veteran alt rockers Jane’s Addiction , whose fourth album, The Great Escape Artist, lands at #12 after moving nearly 24,000 units. Close behind is French electronica act M83 , whose Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming hits #15 (21,000), and much further down the list, former Fall Out Boy singer Patrick Stump slips into the top 50 at 47 with his solo debut, Soul Punk (9,000). On the iTunes albums chart the pre-release sales for Coldplay ‘s Mylo Xyloto helped catapult that band to #1, ahead of Adele, Casting Crowns, the “Footloose” reboot soundtrack, Evanescence, M83, Foster the People ‘s Torches , Jane’s Addiction, the second album from the Tool side project Puscifer and Lil Wayne. The singles tally is topped by Rihanna ‘s ” We Found Love,” which beat out LMFAO ‘s “Sexy and I Know It,” Drake ‘s “Make Me Proud,” Adele’s “Someone Like You” and Justin Bieber ‘s “Mistletoe.” Foster the People are at #5 with “Pumped up Kicks,” ahead of Maroon 5 ‘s “Moves Like Jagger,” David Guetta ‘s “Without You,” Gym Class Heroes ‘ “Stereo Hearts” and Coldplay’s “Paradise.” Adele will likely have to chill a bit next week when new albums from Kelly Clarkson , Coldplay, Toby Keith and Vince Gill hit the charts. Adele To Return With Live Album, DVD In November

Release of Live at the Royal Albert Hall comes on the heels of singer cancelling a slew of shows due to vocal issues. By James Montgomery Adele Photo: Stefan M. Prager/Redferns Vocal problems may have forced Adele to scrap her U.S. tour , but next month, she’ll return to the States … with a live CD and DVD. Due out November 29, Live at the Royal Albert Hall was recorded during Adele’s rousing September show at the iconic London venue, and features her full 90-minute performance, which includes her biggest hits from the 19 and 21 albums, plus covers of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and the Steeldrivers’ “If It Hadn’t Been for Love.” The film, directed by Paul Dugdale (who has previously worked with the Prodigy, Florence and the Machine and, of course, Adele herself), also contains exclusive behind-the-scenes content shot throughout the day. The CD/DVD package is currently available for pre-order through Adele’s website , and fans might want to pick it up, as it’s probably the last time they’ll get to see the British belter for a while. She’s been battling vocal issues for months, first postponing her North American tour in June due to laryngitis, then rescheduling dates before announcing in early October that a vocal hemorrhage would force her off the road entirely. Of course, none of that has slowed the success of her massive 21, which will once again top the Billboard albums chart next week and has sold more than 4 million copies in the U.S. alone since February. She’s also one of the most-nominated artists at next month’s American Music Awards (no word on whether she’ll attend, though), and her latest single, “Someone Like You,” currently sits atop the Billboard Hot 100.
