Glee’s Chris Colfer Talks Golden Globes, Tonsillitis Outbreaks, and Romance with Blaine

To say Glee ‘s Chris Colfer is basking in the glow of his second consecutive Golden Globe nomination for his role as McKinley High’s estranged gay pioneer Kurt is a bit of an understatement. “I’m so excited I’ve been tackling everyone I’ve seen on set today,” he enthuses, before adding with a chuckle, “Whether I know them or not!” Not everyone in the Glee cast shares Colfer’s enthusiasm, however. “Ashley Fink [Lauren] sent me a hysterical text message,” he recalls. “She said she was excited that I was nominated but she was more excited for Burlesque .”

Gleebasing: ‘Spears Is Fierce, Yo’

There is no way to cram six Britney Spears songs into an episode of Glee organically. Or so viewers learned last night when Ryan Murphy materialized in millions of U.S. homes viewers (at once, like Santa Claus), slipped them a gnarled episode that he engineered himself and fled into the night so that his audience could experience a mediocre high with hallucinations of Uncle Jesse from Full House . “Britney/Brittany” was traumatic and disappointing and no doubt left you itching for a hit of Glee , the way Murphy used to make it. Rather than hitting the streets in desperation, review the highs and lows with Movieline below. As always, there will be a pop quiz at the end — so pay attention!

Dustin Lance Black on Hoover: ‘There Are More Contradictions’ — and DiCaprio’s In

Reports yesterday that Clint Eastwood approached Joaquin Phoenix to play the G-man object of affection in Hoover stimulated a new flurry of rumors about the project, from whether Leonardo DiCaprio is actually set to play the father of the FBI to whether Eastwood or Phoenix can attract enough studio confidence after their respective fall fizzles of Hereafter and I’m Still Here . The jury remains out on Phoenix, but as Dustin Lance Black told Movieline last week, don’t worry about the power duo at the top.

Glee Premiere Ratings Would Make Even Sue Sylvester Happy

Rachel Berry is going to be even more incorrigible now. Last night’s second season premiere of Glee drew in 12.3 million viewers, a 20 percent increase from the season premiere last fall. Despite a new time slot and some lame pizza pranks , Glee was the second most watched television show of the night, behind NCIS . Jazz hands. [ THR /The Live Feed ]

Sarah Drew on the Secret of the Grey’s Anatomy Set, Glee and the Status of Mad Men’s Sal Romano

Even if you don’t know Sarah Drew, you know Sarah Drew. With appearances on Mad Men , Castle , Private Practice , Glee and many other top series over the course of the last few years, it’s no wonder Drew describes herself as a “Guest Star Queen.” That’s about to change though: With her regular role on Grey’s Anatomy — itself which started as a guest appearance — Drew is ready to take the next step in her career.

Gwyneth Paltrow Rumored to Make Music with Matthew Morrison on Glee

First Javier Bardem agreed to “rock the house” on Glee and now his Oscar-winning peer Gwyneth Paltrow is rumored to be circling the Fox hit. The custom designed role — Paltrow and creator Ryan Murphy are buds and he wrote it with her in mind — extends over two episodes in November and would find Paltrow as a singing and dancing substitute teacher for Will Schuester. Naturally, both he and New Directions grow to love to her, much to the consternation of Emma Pillsbury. Stay Country Strong , Gwen! [ E! ]

That’s Not Amore: Italian Critics Trash Eat Pray Love

Film critics in Italy have taken a much harder line toward the globetrotting sumptuousness of Eat Pray Love than their American counterparts did, dismissing the film as Hollywood ethno-porn of the worst kind. “It rains spaghetti, the Italians are always gesticulating and following foreign girls shouting vulgarities but then getting engaged to a nice housewife to please their domineering mothers, all this under the sign of ‘dolce far niente’,” Curzio Maltese wrote in La Repubblica , echoed later by the Torino daily La Stampa : “That’s the way they like us in the United States, dark, boisterous, uninhibited; we’ve always known that, but this time the effect is beyond the limits.” Nobody tell them about Jersey Shore , cool?
