Lou Pearlman, Crooked Creator Of N*SYNC And Backstreet Boys, Dies In Prison At Age 62

Lou Pearlman Dies In Prison While Serving 25-Year Sentence Lou Pearlman, the innovative yet extremely crooked manager that masterminded mega-acts like Backstreet Boys, N*SYNC , passed away while serving a 25-year prison sentence in connection with running a $300 million ponzi scheme yesterday. He was 62. Via Orlando Sentinel : Boy band promoter Lou Pearlman, known for launching groups such as the Backstreet Boys and ‘NSync, died in prison Friday while serving a 25-year sentence for one of the largest Ponzi schemes in Florida history, a federal inmate database shows. Pearlman cashed in on the boy-band craze, building an empire of acts around the globe in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It collapsed in 2006 after he was exposed for running a massive $300 million Ponzi scheme. He declared bankruptcy in 2007 and was convicted of fraud in 2008. The cause of death for the 62-year-old was not disclosed Saturday. Calls to the Federal Bureau of Prisons were not returned. The Orlando entrepreneur is credited with starting the ’90s boy-band craze and managed huge acts including the Backstreet Boys, ‘N Sync, O-Town and the Chippendales before the scheme was uncovered. After the scheme was uncovered, hundreds of lawsuits were filed in the case, including one by the Backstreet Boys, and some victims were taken for their life savings. Pearlman was caught by FBI agents in Bali, Indonesia while running from creditors and regulators. He was living under the false name, A. Incognito Johnson. He was expelled from the country and arrested in Guam. Incognito Johnson??? He sounds like he lowkey wanted to be caught. This guy was crooked as they come, but the late 90’s and early 2000’s wouldn’t have been the same without him… WireImage

Ronaiah Tuiasosopo: Confused, Possibly Gay

According to Manti Te’o , he is not gay. In fact, he is far, far, far from gay . But Ronaiah Tuiasosopo? The man who has admitted to being behind the Manti Te’o girlfriend hoax that rocked a school and a country? Ronaiah Tuiasosopo Interview Tease In a preview of the interview that will run later this week, Dr. Phil appeared this morning on The Today Show and said of Ronaiah: “Here we have a young man that fell deeply, romantically in love,” he says, adding of the taped Q&A: “I ask him straight up… was this a romantic relationship with you? And he says, ‘Yes.'” So Phil followed up: “I said, are you then, therefore, gay? And he says, ‘Well, when you put it that way, yes.'” But the psychologist said Tuiasosopo then “caught himself” and clarified: “I am confused.” That much is certain. Phil says the 22-year old admitted to running the scheme, accepting responsibility but also saying a handful of life experiences have “damaged” him across the board. That much, sadly, is also certain.

Why Small Moments In Your Life Can Mean The Most

Read the original here:

When I’m thinking about what to write, I often find myself thinking of the small moments in life that tend to make me smile and reflect on the most. I tend to get my best musings when I least expect it, such as during my daily coffee run or while maneuvering down a busy walkway on my way to work. To put the reader in my shoes, you might be waiting in line at your local coffee shop and suddenly feel the hustle and bustle of the morning seemingly slow down as the cashier makes a mistake with the register. That moment of the day might make you stop for a second and begin to realize that the urgency of your surroundings could be internalized stress rather than the actual reality. On a completely different topic, perhaps you’re checking your phone and find yourself smiling from ear to ear due to an unexpected text message. While you feel your day brighten, the other person might not even realize that what they said left you beaming. Best Buy’s Buy Back Program to be made official during the Super Bowl… by Justin Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne

We heard about this during the news avalanche that was CES early last month, but today Best Buy has started making its new Buy Back Program official in emails sent out to valued Reward Zone customers. The gist of the scheme is that Best Buy will offer you set “Buy Back” prices for goods you purchase from its stores, advertising it as a reassurance that your electronics won’t depreciate too much during your ownership. The leaked info we saw in January showed that you’ll have to pay an extra fee at the point of purchase to enroll into the Program and Best Buy’s highest re-purchase offers were capped at 50 percent of the initial price, so don’t expect this to be any great favor to you, Mr. Consumer. For more info, keep your eyes locked on the Super Bowl this Sunday, when Justin Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne (no, seriously) will do their best to explicate Best Buy’s new venture.
