Former porn star Sasha Grey is back in familiar territory in the thriller Open Windows , opening in select theaters this weekend! Open Windows is the latest film from director Nacho Vigalondo , and stars Sasha Grey as a famous actress who agrees to participate in a “win a date” style social media contest. When a hapless loser played by Elijah Wood wins the contest, she reneges on the deal, but in an attempt to make it up to him, his publicist gives him the opportunity to track her life on the internet. He soon discovers that he’s been tricked into essentially helping to ruin the actress’ life, and he may even end up as the fall guy. Sasha’s no stranger to onscreen nudity, and she bares her beauties several times in the film, including a rather intense scene where she is forced to strip on a webcam that Wood is watching, and before long, her breasts are splashed all over his computer screen! Now that’s the kind of spam we can completely get behind!
How lonely do you have to be to fall in love with your computer ?? In the new Warner Brothers Film “Her,” Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix) does just that. Heartbroken after the end of a long relationship, he becomes intrigued with a new, advanced operating system (voiced by Scarlett Johannson) which promises to be an intuitive and unique entity in its own right. From the singular perspective of Oscar®-nominated filmmaker Spike Jonze, “Her” is an original love story that explores the evolving nature — and the risks — of intimacy in the modern world. The way technology and online love are going, people often fall for partners they never even meet in person…so is it really that farfetched to imagine a man falling in love with Siri? Peep the trailer: “Her” is currently playing in select theaters and opens nationwide on January 10. Will you be watching?

Long before Pope Benedict XVI stepped down as the head of the sexual scandal-scarred Catholic Church, the 18th-Century novelist and dramatist Matthew G. Lewis’ was inspired to write The Monk , a gothic supernatural novel about a man of the cloth who is tempted and corrupted by (cue ominous music)…Satan! More than two centuries later, filmmaker Dominik Moll ( Lemming , With A Friend Like Harry ) has brought the cult classic to the screen starring Vincent Cassel as Brother Ambrosio, the titular Capuchin monk who is led way astray. Here’s the synopsis: Abandoned at birth at the gates of a Capuchin monastery in Madrid, Brother Ambrosio (Vincent Cassel), raised by the friars, grows up into a preacher admired far and wide for his fervor. Ambrosio is feared for his righteousness and believes he is immune from temptation – until the arrival of a mysterious apprentice undermines his convictions and leads him down a dangerous path of sin, corruption and murder. First up, is the film’s Red Band trailer which has a bit of a vampire vibe initially — the actress is Deborah Francois — and then gets all sexy and stuff. One corrupted, Ambrosio sets his wolfish eyes on the virtuous Antonia (Joséphine Japy), who, in this clip, does not seem to be interested in finding out what’s beneath the monk’s itchy cassock. Click here to view the embedded video. Why do I think this ends badly for Antonia? The Monk opens Friday, March 8 in select theaters and on VOD. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter .
