Another weekend with no nudity at the multiplex—though that’s sure to change the last two weekends of this month—but the stars of this weekend’s films have done some great nudity in their careers! Hit the jump for more pics and info…
What is going on out there, people? All these franchises and rehashes at the multiplex, and Hollywood can’t interest you in any of them? Last week it was the aromatic anti-charm of New Year’s Eve falling flat on opening weekend, and now new installments of Sherlock Holmes and Alvin and the Chipmunks are limping along at the front of the pack? At least Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol showed signs life in limited IMAX release, but ugh . Next week’s Christmas harvest couldn’t come soon enough, but for now, your Friday Box Office is here.

The last time we saw John Cusack onscreen, he was turning back time in a hot tub. Now, Cusack returns to the multiplex to travel much deeper into the past — far beyond embarrassing ’80s ski suits and Rick Springfield singles and into the 1800s, where as Edgar Allan Poe, he helps search for a serial killer who uses Poe’s own gothic stories as inspiration for his murders. Take a look at the first eerie trailer for The Raven below.
Good Friday means more in Hollywood this weekend than just the official start of the Easter holiday. It means cashing in on a new Tyler Perry film, wringing a lucrative second week out of the world favorite new animated bird, and counting on Twilight Nation to drop by the multiplex for Rob Pattinson’s latest extracurricular effort. Read on to call your box-office shots.
So as we noted , SXSW goes beyond the basic Audience and Jury prizes and also doles out honors in categories like Poster Design and Title Sequence. At the screening honoring finalists in the latter category, juror Ian Albinson put together this nifty video, A Brief History of Title Design . While it’s by no means comprehensive, the montage is breezy and well-edited. Also, it ends with the undisputed champion of all title sequences. That said, I think Jean-Luc Godard’s giant, colorful titles should have gotten props here. What else is missing?

Maybe it’s a Canadian thing. Like his countryman, Kiefer Sutherland, Seth Rogen has a voice that’s 10 years older than he is — a combination of world-weariness and exuberance, an instrument that he’s mastered for specific comic shadings. Sutherland wrings anger and shock from the premature gray in his, and by the time 24 ended, he’d physically caught up with the age emanating from his larynx. In the likable, misfits-on-the road comedy Paul , Rogen’s soulful rustiness is used for the sound of the intergalactic traveler. With it, he lays a claim to being one of the premier vocal talents of his generation.
With spring in the air on the East Coast — and a little bit of booze; it is St. Patrick’s Day after all — what better time to be reminded that the multiplex will soon be overflowing with summer blockbusters. Of all the studios shopping their wares, Disney seems the most excited to kick-off summertime, as they’ve begun a full court press for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides . Earlier this week, that meant the release of the Johnny Depp-centric character poster; now, it’s time for Penelope Cruz to get into the spotlight.
