Alyssa Milano and a host of female celebrities are doing what they can on social media to raise awareness about sexual harassment and/or assault. In the wake of the troubling Harvey Weinstein rape allegations , and the ways in which Hollywood has appeared to cover the producer's actions up, Milano has Tweeted a call-to-action. She's asking people to speak out about being sexually harassed or assaulted by replying to her tweet with the words “Me Too.” (According to Twitter, #MeToo has been tweeted nearly half a million times in the past 24 hours.) NYPD Captain Downplays Rape Increase Because They Weren’t “True Stranger Rapes” Uh… According to a report in DNAInfo , one NYPD Captain isn’t really worried about the 62% increase in rapes in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. In 2015 there were 5 reported rapes in the area, in 2016, that number jumped to 13, but it’s not that big a deal if you let Captain Peter Rose, head of the 94th Precinct, tell it: “Some of them were Tinder, some of them were hookup sites, some of theme were actually coworkers. It’s not a trend that we’re too worried about because out of 13 [sex attacks], only two were true stranger rapes. Wait, say what now? “They’re not total abomination rapes where strangers are being dragged off the streets,” Rose later said at a Community Council meeting Wednesday night. “If there’s a true stranger rape, a random guy picks up a stranger off the street, those are the troubling ones. That person has, like, no moral standards. The National Organization of Women’s Jane Manning is NOT here for it: “The idea that ‘this isn’t some guy who’s dangerous to women,’ that in itself is a major window into the mentality that we are up against,” she said. “If you have the commander of a precinct making comments like that, he’s setting a tone for all the officers of a unit about how seriously to take acquaintance rape cases. “When I hear the phrase we didn’t have a cooperating victim, my antenna always goes up. If you hear ‘I can’t get the victim to cooperate’ in case after case, you should be asking yourself what are they failing to do?” But “most cops are just trying to do the best job they can to protect citizens” though, right? Former Who’s the Boss Star Reveals HIV Diagnosis

Former Who's the Boss star Danny Pintauro made a stunning, sad announcement during an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Saturday night:  He is HIV positive. The actor, who portrayed Jonathan on the family sitcom for eight years, opened the Q&A by coming right out with this troubling piece of information. “I wanted to tell you this a long time ago, but I wasn't ready. I'm ready now,” Pintauro said. “I'm HIV-positive, and I have been for 12 years.” In the above clip, Pintauro (who also came out as gay in 1997) talks about the dangers of crystal meth, drug he was addicted to for many years. Pintauro explained that he underwent testing once every six months… and was then told the devastating news in March of 2003. “I was living in New York at the time and completely clueless to the idea that I was positive. I went in for a regular checkup,” Pintauro says. “It was just regular blood work. You go in, and you sort of waited two weeks on pins and needles — or at least I did, because I was just terrified of the idea of getting HIV.” The actor went on to explain how “crystal meth takes away your inhibitions” and that he thought he was “being safe” during the sexual encounter that changed his life. Today, Pintauro lives with his husband in Las Vegas and works as a restaurant manager. “What I want my community to realize is we need to take better care of ourselves,” he says.

Jessi Smiles: Facing Death Threats Over Curtis Lepore Rape Allegation

The Twitterverse is once again showing its ugly side. With Curtis Lepore – a viral Vine star who has amassed millions of followers over that video sharing service – facing accusations of rape , Internet users have turned their wrath toward Jessi Smiles, the ex-girlfriend at the center of this allegedly heinous crime. Not long after the troubling story broke, Twitter followers went online and blasted Smiles, issuing death threats along the lines of the following messages: F**K YOU JESSI I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN YOU LITTLE BITCH. Hows it feel to lie about being raped? F**king bitch he didn’t f**king rape you dumb bitch. According to reports, Lepore and Smiles got close via Vine and then met in New York City for the first time last summer. They dated for a couple months and then split in August. A few days later, after Smiles suffered a concussion while filming a video, Lepore offered to take care of her. She supposedly fell asleep by his side and that’s when the sexual assault took place. Since the story broke, Lepore has come out and told people not to pass judgment, while Smiles wrote that she “stopping living her life” six months ago, at the time of the alleged incident. She has vowed that is “NOT going to happen again.”

Security Guards Chokes Deaf Shoppers – Shoplifting Suspects, Video There are more questions than answers regarding this troubling video that seems to show a security guard choking a suspected shoplifter while his friend tries to intervene – both of whom appear to be deaf. Here is what we know from watching the video, listening to the commentary and reading the post of the youtube user who took the video. Apparently, two deaf shoppers were leaving XXI in Hollywood when the store alarm was triggered but the pair continued walking with their shopping bags (they are reportedly deaf). The video picks it up from there as one man is being choked by a security guard while his friend (clearly with a speech impediment) tries to help, gesticulating franticly that he has receipts. Meanwhile, the security guard is choking the deaf shoplifting suspect so hard he is turning blue. Some people in the crow that have gathered are upset but do nothing to intervene while man video tapes the choking incident. A security guard tries to stop the video taping of the incident to no avail. The suspects are taken back inside XXI Hollywood store. At times store security guards like the ones here in XXI shoplifting video seem to operate with impunity where beyond the limits of what they are legally allowed to do. It is one thing to ask for receipts it is another to tackle someone and choke because they are mere shoplifting suspects. Lets hope someone is looking into this incident and the whole truth comes out.
