Dinner for Schmucks Trailer: Paul Rudd Hates Steve Carell, But Not Too Much

Americanization! Here we have the trailer for Jay Roach’s Dinner for Schmucks , which is the English-language remake of Francis Veber’s 1998 French comedy The Dinner Game . The differences between the two — and the apparent softening of the new film — are instructive.

4.3.2.1 Trailer Promises the Year’s Best Emma Roberts Lesbian Diamond Heist Flick

I’m a little late getting to this extraordinary trailer for the thriller 4.3.2.1 , which, at a glance, seems to be much more of a British phenomenon than anything Americans would get too carried away with. But a closer look reveals a number of factors that make the new film by young U.K. actor/writer/director Noel Clarke an international breakthrough waiting to happen. I mean, how can you say no to a movie promising lipstick lesbians, a diamond heist, Emma Roberts threatening to kill someone and Kevin Smith — on an airplane! — all in one insane place? Click through for the mildly NSFW goods.

Inception Breaks Baffling New Ground in Viral Geekdom

We’re a few days removed from Christopher Nolan’s WonderCon testimony and his latest chat with the L.A. Times , neither of which seem to reveal much more than the filmmaker’s aptitude for blowing your effing mind with diversions, distractions and other modes of geek-bait legerdemain. But now it appears that the real brain-cramping spoils belong to those combining WonderCon access, cell-phone technology and free swag into something, well… still totally unintelligible. But cool! I think? Read on and you tell me.

Nicolette Sheridan Says Marc Cherry Attacked Her ‘Because He is a Homosexual Man’

Yesterday brought us a bombshell lawsuit filed by Nicolette Sheridan against Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry, alleging that she was wrongfully fired from the show in the wake of a physical assault by Cherry. In the wake of any additional news today, I decided to examine the lawsuit in greater depth, and I’m surprised that one of Sheridan’s charges — unlawful discrimination based on sexual orientation — isn’t attracting greater attention.

The Gossip Girl Pun Index: Love is a Pun-Free Battlefield

The knives were most certainly out on Gossip Girl last night. The episode (“Inglorious Bassterds” for those keeping score at home) dealt with all the little betrayals that couples do to each other on a daily basis. Or, at least couples on Gossip Girl . So Dan and Vanessa lied to each other about how they felt about their respective work, Nate got kissed by hopeful man-stealer Jenny but didn’t tell his girlfriend Serena, and Chuck used Blair’s emotional attachment (and l-o-v-e) to get his precious Empire Hotel back. Never mind that Chuck’s a billionaire and the hotel is ultimately meaningless; it’s a symbol for his father’s something something something. How did Gossip Girl’s cheeky puns and wordplay fit in with the episode’s theme? Not very well. To the list!

Nicolette Sheridan Sues Marc Cherry for $20 Million, Singsong Narrator Dumbfounded

What has Nicolette Sheridan been up to since she was written out of Desperate Housewives ? Oh, nothing…unless you mean the $20 million lawsuit she just levied at Housewives creator Marc Cherry, alleging that she was the victim of assault and battery, gender violence and wrongful termination. If Housewives were as juicy as the contents of this lawsuit, I might start watching it again:

Going Out with Several Bangs

Laughin’ with Lando

According to horrifying new reports, Lucasfilm Animation is teaming with Seth Green and Matthew Senreich (of Robot Chicken ) for a Star Wars comedy series . Thrilling, of course. Hopefully the Luke/Leia incest will be reimagined as a Marx brothers mistaken identity routine, and Darth Vader will be voiced by a slightly more somber Gilbert Gottfried. Then again, the Star Wars franchise is no stranger to terrible TV comedy … [ THR ]
