Homosexual Hate: Ugandan President Agrees To Sign Anti-Gay Bill That Sentences Homosexuals To Life Imprisonment

Gay H8 is alive and well in Africa … Ugandan President Agrees To Sign Anti-Gay Bill Via NY Times reports: Gay rights in Africa suffered another setback when President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda told members of his party on Friday that he would sign a bill imposing harsh sentences for homosexual acts, including life imprisonment in some cases. The measure would criminalize “the promotion or recognition” of homosexual relations. After a first conviction, offenders face a 14-year prison sentence. Subsequent convictions of “aggravated homosexuality” could bring a penalty of life in prison. The announcement of the president’s intentions came during a conference of Mr. Museveni’s party, the National Resistance Movement, according to a government spokesman. “The NRM caucus has welcomed the development as a measure to protect Ugandans from social deviants,” said the spokesman, Ofwono Opondo, in a post on Twitter on Friday. According to Amnesty International, homosexuality is illegal in 38 of 54 African countries. Homosexual acts can be punished by death sentences in Mauritania, southern Somalia, Sudan and northern Nigeria, where justice is carried out according to a version of Shariah law. After President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria signed a law criminalizing homosexuality throughout the country last month, arrests of gay people have multiplied amid demands for a crackdown. Colonial-era Ugandan law already prohibits homosexual acts. An earlier version of the bill, first introduced in 2009 and then withdrawn, included the death penalty in some instances. An international outcry helped scuttle that version, but legislators pushed ahead with a revised one. The Ugandan Parliament passed the most recent version of the antigay legislation in December. Later that month, Mr. Museveni wrote a letter to Parliament saying that lawmakers had made procedural errors in passing the bill and that in-depth study was needed before it could be taken up again. Mr. Museveni said at the time that he would seek further expert opinions. First Nigeria and now this? Do you think African countries are wrong for banning homosexuality? Shouldn’t these countries be more worried about rebuilding infrastructure, warfare, poverty and education??

People Aint Isht: Couple Released On Bail After Starving 8-Year-Old Daughter To Death & Planning To Steal Her Organs

Couple Released On Bail After Starving Daughter To Death Cruel and senseless crimes against children committed at the hands of their parents seem to be on the rise….and these this worthless California couple just adds to the pile. via ABC News A California couple living in Qatar facing possible execution for allegedly starving their daughter to death was released on bail today after almost a year in jail. Matt and Grace Huang were released on bail, but the court imposed a travel ban that prevents them from returning to the U.S. The couple has been imprisoned since January after their 8-year-old adopted daughter Gloria died, they say, from unknown complications from a childhood eating disorder. But the Qatari authorities charged them with forced starvation and intent to murder. The police accuse the Huangs of trafficking Gloria and her brothers to harvest their organs. The Huangs, who are Asian-American, accuse the Qatari authorities of faulty evidence and cultural ignorance, failing to understand how or why they would have three children from Africa. In addition to Gloria, the Huangs have two adopted boys – one from Ghana, the other from Uganda – forming a bi-racial family rarely seen in oil-rich Qatar which is void of much diversity (except for Asian workers who go to work as laborers) and where adoptions are scarce. If the courts think these two are enough of a threat to society to possibly recommend the death penalty, why were they even eligible for bail???

For Your Information: Shady Details About “Invisible Children”, Joseph Kony, And Deplorable Tragedy In Uganda Sparks MAJOR Controversy

The sudden public emergence of a little-known war criminal named Joseph Kony has created a storm of angry dialogue, suspicious side-eyeing, and an endless stream of online chitchatter the likes of which we haven’t seen since Barack Obama ran for President of the United States in 2008. For those that follow us on Twitter, you witnessed some of the angry rhetoric that soapbox super-heroes have aimed in our direction. Clearly, Joseph Kony is an atrocious human being and the word “criminal” doesn’t even BEGIN to describe the types of activities he’s been involved in. However, there are a whole host of people that do not wholeheartedly believe in the sudden and overwhelming campaign that has sprung up over the past week. Even those who actually LIVE in Uganda have doubts about the latest social cause phenomena. Says Ugandan journalist Angelo Opi-Aiya Izama: ‘To call the campaign a misrepresentation is an understatement. While it draws attention to the fact that Kony, indicted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court in 2005, is still on the loose, its portrayal of his alleged crimes in Northern Uganda are from a bygone era. At the height of the war between especially 1999 and 2004, large hordes of children took refuge on the streets of Gulu town to escape the horrors of abduction and brutal conscription to the ranks of the LRA. Today most of these children are semi-adults. Many are still on the streets unemployed. Gulu has the highest numbers of child prostitutes in Uganda. It also has one of the highest rates of HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis. If six years ago children in Uganda would have feared the hell of being part of the LRA, a well documented reality already, today the real invisible children are those suffering from “Nodding Disease”. Over 4000 children are victims of this incurable debilitating condition. It’s a neurological disease that has baffled world scientists and attacks mainly children from the most war affected districts of Kitgum, Pader and Gulu.’ Hit the flip to read on…

Kony 2012 Campaign Catches Eyes Of Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga

Campaign aims to bring African militia leader Joseph Kony to justice for war crimes and for enlisting children as soldiers. By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News A campaign to stop the nearly 30-year, brutal rule of African militia leader Joseph Kony became a viral sensation this week. “Kony 2012,” started by the group Invisible Children, aims to make Kony’s face so famous that authorities will finally be able to arrest him and try him for his crimes. A 30-minute documentary released on Monday is one of the keys to the campaign, and as of Thursday it had gotten more than 26 million views. The video details the atrocities carried out by Kony and his Lord’s Resistance Army. The campaign appears to be working, as at one point on Wednesday, Invisible Children and #stopkony were trending higher on Twitter than Peyton Manning or the new iPad. Since 1987, human rights officials say Kony has forcefully abducted more than 60,000 children to be soldiers in his army and reportedly raped, mutilated and killed civilians in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan and displaced more than 2 million people. The leader is wanted for committing atrocities by the International Criminal Court and is being hunted down by 100 U.S. Special Forces advisers and local troops in four Central African nations, according to the Associated Press. Kony 2012 is an effort to capture Kony and disarm the LRA before a reported window of opportunity closes. One way it plans to do that is by encouraging users to directly message a variety of stars to make use of their Twitter ubiquity to get the word out. Among those listed on the site are: Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Jay-Z, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Ryan Seacrest and Ellen DeGeneres, along with a number of major policymakers. When users click on the celebs’ photos, a tweet pops up that reads: Help us end #LRA violence. Visit kony2012.com to find out why and how. @timtebow Join us for #KONY2012. Drugs Are Bad M’Kay: Amazing Race Producer Died After Snorting Up A Bunch Of Bad Yayo, Assistant Is Paralyzed

An American television producer found dead on a hotel balcony in Uganda last week died after taking contaminated coke, police and a private investigator said on Saturday. An official toxicology report confirmed the narcotic was in Jeff Rice’s blood, dispelling initial suspicions the father of two known for his work on the U.S. show “The Amazing Race” had been poisoned by attackers. Rice, who was found slumped over a table bleeding through the nose and mouth, died of asphyxiation, a post mortem showed. Drug users who fall unconscious risk inhaling vomit. “Rice … used cocaine which had lethal additives and that’s what killed him,” Uganda police spokesperson Asuman Mugenyi told Reuters. Brad Nathanson, a private investigator and friend of Rice, said he had been shown the toxicology report by police and there was no evidence of foul play in Rice’s death. “In fact it was as a result of buying bad drugs, coke to be specific … it was a bad concoction,” Nathanson told reporters. “I have read the toxicology report … it shows that there were small traces of coke in their blood and urine,” he said, adding he had traveled to Uganda as a friend of the Rice family following rumors he had been poisoned, and not for payment. Rice’s assistant, identified as Kathryne Fuller, was found unconscious when Rice’s body was discovered Feb. 18 at the Serena hotel in the capital, Kampala. She is now reported to be conscious but paralyzed down the right side of her body. Early on, there had been speculation that the two had been poisoned, then that they might have been forced to consume the drugs, because of the high amount of coke in Rice’s stomach. NBC News contributor Clint van Zandt said on the “TODAY Show” on Saturday that it seemed unlikely that Rice would have willingly taken that amount of coke. If Rice and Fuller were believed to have voluntarily consumed the drugs, Fuller could be prosecuted under Uganda’s drug laws. Ugandan police said on Saturday they had arrested a man who confessed selling drugs to the pair who had been in the east African country working on a documentary. SMH.
