Late Fashion Designer Oscar De La Renta Denies Adopted Son His Inheritance

Oscar De La Renta Snubs His Adopted Son In Will Late fashion designer Oscar de la Renta held a grudge against his adopted son that went from 2005 until after his death, ultimately denying his only legal offspring his true stake in his father’s fortune. Via MailOnline : Late fashion designer Oscar de la Renta has snubbed his adopted son – a designer at his label – in his $26 million will after the pair fell out 10 years ago. Moises de la Renta was adopted by the couturier from an orphanage in the Dominican Republic following the death of his first wife Françoise de Langlade in 1983. Moises, 30, has now been left a relatively small bequest from his late father’s $26 million estate – and has been warned that if he ever tried to contest the will he would be cut out completely, court documents show. The pair fell out after Moises attempted to launch his own women’s fashion line in 2005. His father, who is considered one of the most iconic designers of all time and dressed everyone from Jackey Kennedy Onassis to Amal Clooney, never forgave him for the move, Page Six reports. Annette de la Renta was bequeathed the majority of her husband’s real estate portfolio, including a $13million Park Avenue apartment in New York, a $2.8million house in Kent, Connecticut and his estate in Dominica. Rather than Moises, de la Renta’s stepdaughter Eliza Bolen was named as an alternate executor of the will, Page Six reports. In 2005, The Post reported Moises was building his own fashion ’empire’ which aimed ‘to bring the de la Renta aura to a younger crowd’ but the line, MDLR Black, never took off. Oscar later publicly lashed out at his son and told New York magazine: ‘Moises did a little line, five or six pieces. But that doesn’t make a fashion designer.’ Yikes. That Oscar was REALLY salty about his son going off on his own to try and build his own legacy. SMH.

Deryck Whibley Files to Drop Avril Lavigne’s Last Name

Deryck Whibley revealed that he took his ex-wife Avril Lavigne’s last name when they wed in 2006, and had kept it until this year, despite their 2009 divorce. The Sum 41 singer filed a petition to legally drop his ex-wife’s last name, which he had adopted as one of his own after the pair tied the knot in 2006. He wants to be Deryck Jason Whibley again. Not Deryck Jason Lavigne Whibley. Lavigne, as you know, swapped vows with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger in July, the bride wearing black in a Monique Lhuillier gown for the occasion. It’s hard to tell if it was a dark day as well for Whibley, who dressed as his ex-wife for Halloween last year while girlfriend Ari Cooper went as Kroeger. “Hey Deryck loved the costumes!” Kroeger tweeted back. “We were going to dress up as you guys this year but all the parties had celebrity themes haha!” Ouch. Well, at least now Whibley can move on a little bit easier. In fact, maybe this is a sign that he’s thinking of evening the score and retying the knot himself. Would you take your wife’s last name, guys?

Alan Cumming Fights For The Child In ‘Any Day Now’ Trailer

The trailer opens with a gender-bending Alan Cumming meeting a guy at a cabaret, but the frivolity appears to end there. After the pair get together with his closeted lawyer partner, Cumming’s Rudy befriends a developmentally disabled adolescent who is being neglected by his mother. The story goes from there in what turns out to be a fight for civil rights and the welfare of a child. Director Travis Fine’s Any Day Now won Audience Awards at the Chicago, Provincetown, Tribeca and Woodstock film festivals in addition to other wins in Seattle and Outfest. Official Log-line: Inspired by a true story and touching on legal and social issues that are more relevant now than ever, Any Day Now tells a story of love, acceptance, and creating your own family. In the late 1970s, when Marco (Isaac Leyva), a teenager with down syndrome who’s been abandoned by his mother, is taken in by committed couple Rudy (Alan Cumming) and Paul (Garret Dillahunt), he finds in them the family he’s never had.  However, when their unconventional living arrangement is discovered by the authorities, Rudy and Paul must fight a biased legal system to adopt the child they have come to love as their own. ‘Twins’ May Find Long-Lost Triplet In Eddie Murphy

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito may reunite for ‘Triplets,’ the sequel to the 1988 comedy ‘Twins.’ By Gil Kaufman Eddie Murphy Photo: Getty Images Some old movie franchises never die, they just go into the deep freeze for, oh, almost a quarter century. Case in point: “Twins.” Surely you remember the hit high-concept 1988 comedy starring then-huge actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his half-sized “brother” Danny DeVito? The goofball premise had the two stumbling through wacky adventures, with the, ahem, intellectual, physically perfect Julius (Arnold) struggling to connect with his long-lost small-time crook fraternal twin bro Vincent (DeVito) after the pair were separated at birth. Bottom line: The movie grossed more than $200 million worldwide, and now, Universal Pictures is hoping to reboot the franchise nearly 25 years later. There is, of course, a new twist: Not only would the former California governor and the “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” star be reprising their roles, but they would find out that the mad scientists who created them also cooked up a third brother. Cue “Triplets,” with third comedic wheel Eddie Murphy. The Hollywood Reporter said no director is connected to the flick yet, but noted that original director Ivan Reitman, would be onboard as a producer through his Montecito Picture Co. banner. The backers are still looking for writers to work up a script, and while the actors are reportedly attached to star, the studios have not yet sat down to discuss the creative aspect of the project. The film could be a boon for Murphy, who is coming off yet another box-office bomb with the long-delayed “A Thousand Words,” while Schwarzenegger is still attempting to revive his acting career after two terms as California governor and a nasty split from his wife, Maria Shriver. DeVito has continued to appear in mostly under-the-radar films for the past five to six years, but has a solid hit on his hands at the moment as the voice of “The Lorax.”
