Happy Birthday, Shia LaBeouf!

Shia LaBeouf turns 26 years old today, but let’s hope the actor doesn’t celebrate with a lot of drinking. The guy isn’t exactly known for holding his alcohol well . Instead, the star is has sky-rocketed the approximately the B-list by anchoring a trio of Transformers films, though he’s on record as saying he’s done with the Michael Bay-directed franchise. LaBeouf will next be seen in Lawless, which hits theaters on August 31. But LaBeouf will forever be remembered not for any Academy Award-winning roles, but for the admission he made approximately one year ago: this lucky douchebag totally had sex with Megan Fox . Damn him. So send your best birthday wishes or your most bitter rants to LaBeouf now and also take note of other stars celebrating the anniversaries of their birth: Joshua Jackson (34), Hugh Laurie (53), Joe Montana (56) and Jacques Cousteau (posthumous).

Hugh Grant Finally Expresses Remorse For Nine Months

But not for the reason you might think (or want): The actor, twice a victim of News Corporation phone hackers who has since embarked on a very public crusade against the company, regrets working for the Rupert Murdoch-owned 20th Century Fox. “It would certainly stick in my craw to work for Fox. I did make one film for them 16 years ago, but I was naive then. I didn’t even know who owned it [the studio].” Right. [ EW via The Guardian ]

Ryan Gosling puts on a charm offensive in the upcoming dramedy Crazy Stupid Love (look for Movieline’s full review next week), and judging from the first look at Gosling’s idealistic staffer in The Ides of March , he’ll continue that push in the George Clooney-directed political drama. Today in Less-Distinguished Anniversaries: Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey Turns 20

Just as not every news story this morning can breathlessly follow the Murdoch/Brooks hearings presently overtaking Parliament, not every movie anniversary of note this year can carry the same weight as Aliens or Ferris Bueller’s Day Off . Hence the slow-news-day milestone you’ve been waiting for (or… not): Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey turns 20 today. Feel old yet?

Do The Time Warp: Rocky Horror Picture Show Turns 35

In one lonely theater in Los Angeles, California on September 26th 1975, a weird little movie based on a weird little stage show opened. It got mixed reviews and people more or less stayed away. But when the Rocky Horror Picture Show began to circulate the midnight movie circuit, a genuine underground phenomenon was born — people began to dress up, talk back and throw things at the screen. And now 35 years later, it’s still in limited release. So grab your fishnets and check out the original trailer and my favorite number after the break.

Funny, How? Goodfellas Turns Twenty

Twenty years ago today, Goodfellas opened nationwide. Arguably the finest film outside of the Godfather saga about the mob, Goodfellas introduced us to the hothead stylings of Ray Liotta, made Lorraine Bracco a star and taught us all to be terrified of Joe Pesci’s anecdotes. After the break, watch the original trailer (but try not to laugh when the voice-over guy actually says “In a world…”) and Pesci’s infamous “How am I funny?” scene, re-enacted by the Peppermint Patty, Marcie and the rest of the gang from Peanuts.
