The “American Idol” front-runner, who missed out on Thursday’s results show because he was hospitalized for a flare-up of ulcerative colitis, posted a message to fans on Monday announcing that he is feeling better and will be ready to go for Wednesday night’s performance show. According to Entertainment Weekly, Abrams made the statements at an “Idol” panel on Monday at the 28th annual PaleyFest, where he took the stage along with eight of his fellow finalists (minors Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery and Thia Megia were doing schoolwork). “I’m feeling really good,” he said. The 20-year-old Illinois singer reportedly received blood transfusions last week, during his second hospitalization of the season. “I thought I was actually going to make it,” he said about last Thursday’s show, “but I had to stay behind. It was fun and everyone waved at me, and I felt really supported by everyone, and I loved watching.” Abrams also said he “hated” seeing Ashthon Jones go home on Thursday and was bummed to miss out on the first group performance of the finals. “It was awesome seeing the group performance … [and] thank you, Stefano [Langone] and Haley [Reinhart], for taking my part.” Earlier this season, on February 23, Abrams was rushed to the ER after complaining about stomach pains and almost missed the subsequent taping of the top-12 men’s performances, which potentially would have eliminated him from the competition before the finals. Ashthon Jones Says She Couldn’t Shake ‘Diva’ Label On ‘American Idol’

‘America didn’t think that,’ latest castoff tells MTV News of Jennifer Lopez calling her the ‘D’ word. By Jim Cantiello Ashthon Jones Photo: MTV News If there’s one thing Ashthon Jones learned from her brief-but-memorable journey on “American Idol,” it’s that America does not take kindly to the word “diva.” “Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez called Ashthon the “D” word while raving about her semifinal performance, Monica’s “Love All Over Me,” but the Nashville native quickly realized that the term carries some negative connotations. “When J.Lo said it, I understood what she was talking about. You know how Patti LaBelle, Diana Ross, Whitney were divas but they were divas in a positive way? They were sweet and humble backstage, but when they got on the stage, they [showed] the world that they could do it,” Jones told MTV News on Monday (March 14). “America didn’t think that,” she laughed before sassily snapping her fingers. ” ‘Diva! Diva alert! … She thinks she’s all that!’ I was like, ‘Noooo!’ Nobody ever got to know the real me.” Ironically, Ashthon first made an impression on “Idol” for being anything but a diva. Jones lent her support to Hollywood Week group member Ashley Sullivan, who cracked under the pressure and threatened to walk off the show. In fact, Jones’ patience and positivity in Hollywood was in sharp contrast to other “Idol” singers’ backstabbing and whining. “That’s how we were. We prayed together. We grabbed each other, ‘Come on let’s pray.’ I’m a firm believer of spirituality and faith, and that’s how I live my life,” she said. Apparently, “Idol” fans have a very short memory. Jones acknowledges that picking a lesser-known Diana Ross song didn’t do her any favors, but she suggested the diva label may have been the big thing that kept viewers from getting to know the real Ashthon Jones With a Silent H (which might as well stand for “humble”). “When I get on the stage, I have to ask God for confidence,” she admitted. “You can’t be timid on ‘American Idol,’ because you’re gonna go home. I went home, but I went home top 13,” she said, proud of her accomplishments. Jones is champing at the bit to put more music out and hopes the connections made on “Idol” won’t go to waste. “Oh my goodness, if [Jimmy Iovine’s producers] call me? I can’t wait to see who I’m going to work with. I don’t know what the opportunities are, but I have a good feeling in my spirit that something’s gonna happen. This can’t be it.” Catch more of Ashthon’s interview with MTV News “American Idol” expert Jim Cantiello on “Idol Party Live,” following Thursday’s results show on MTV.com! Jessica Biel: Devastated By Justin Timberlake Split?

One of the most private, talented and beautiful celebrity couples in the world, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel , are officially over. Done. Kaput. No, for real this time. Their reps have even confirmed it. While the stars insist, via their reps, that the breakup was amicable, an E! source says Justin did the breaking up and Jessica Biel is “devastated.” A friend of Biel’s denies this report, adamantly too. “Jessica is not devastated,” said a friend. “That’s just crap. She’s a very independent, proud woman with her own career, she’s fine.” Good to hear. In any case, the two have been battling breakup reports – and rumors of him cheating with Olivia Munn , among others – for quite a long time now. More likely, they simply grew apart. These things do happen with love, even if there’s no huge scandal or third party. We wish them both the best.

Who Was Sent Home on American Idol?

Following performances by Adam Lambert and Diddy Dirty Money, the first American Idol finalist received the news he/she was fearful to hear tonight: it was time to go home. Who would the unlucky contestant be? Ashthon Jones, who sung Diana Ross one more time for the judges in an attempt to stave off elimination. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be, as Jennifer Lopez broke the news to the hopeful: “Not this time, baby, I’m sorry. And it was unanimous.” Jones proceeded to break down in tears and was comforted by her fellow finalists as the credits rolled. Did Ashthon Jones deserve to be eliminated this week?

Show also featured performances from Adam Lambert and Diddy-Dirty Money. By Gil Kaufman Ashthon Jones Photo: FOX There wasn’t much drama on Thursday night’s (March 10) “American Idol” elimination show. A number of this year’s top 13 stumbled on Wednesday night, and for once, host Ryan Seacrest didn’t torture the contestants by making them wait until the show’s final moments to find out the bottom three. In the end, it was curtains for wild card Ashthon Jones, who stumbled on Wednesday night with a limp cover of Diana Ross’ “When You Tell Me That You Love Me.” Earlier in the night, after slogging through the Ford video and a trip to the “Red Riding Hood” premiere, Seacrest finally got to the business of building that bottom three, calling out Jacob Lusk, Stefano Langone and Karen Rodriguez to center stage. He pulled a bit of rope-a-dope by telling all three they were safe, then adding an “except,” and it was Rodriguez who made season 10’s first long walk to the bottom three, landing there after her messy cover of Selena’s “I Could Fall in Love.” The next group featured teen Lauren Alaina, Haley Reinhart and Jones, with the latter an almost unanimous pick by our “Idol” experts to land in the bottom three . After tearfully admitting that the harsh criticism she got Wednesday night, well, “sucked,” Alaina was waved over to safety. In a shock, though, Seacrest then announced that after 30 million votes, both Jones and Reinhart were in the bottom three as well, ending the suspense early. Jones sang for her life one more time near show’s end, but her thin, reedy vocals were not much better than the night before, despite her clear attempt to go out with a bang. Ash broke down in tears, the judges deliberated, but it was a no-go. “Not this time, baby, I’m sorry,” Jennifer Lopez said after a long exhale, revealing that it was a unanimous no. Jones’ trip to “Idol” ended with a montage keyed to this year’s goodbye song, former “Idol” champ David Cook’s cover of Simple Minds’ “Don’t You Forget About Me.” The only real drama in the show was that for the second time this season, bearded hunk of love Casey Abrams was in the hospital on Thursday night, reportedly due to stress-induced stomach problems. He made a similar trip for treatment more than a week ago. At press time a spokesperson for “Idol” said there was no additional information available about Abrams’ condition. Though it wasn’t pulled out Thursday night, Seacrest announced that the show will once again give the judges a single save this season, which they must use before the top five. Viewers also got a look at the gigantic Beverly Hills mansion the contestants will be living in this year, complete with a star-worthy swimming pool, grand piano, Ford car-shaped pool table and a kitchen that’s bigger than most New York apartments. Looking remarkably tame in a T-shirt, jeans and a black jacket, former “Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert dropped in for an acoustic run through his single “Aftermath,” which mixed his signature power high notes with some nuanced balladeering. Proceeds of the sales of a dance-remix version of the single will go to the anti-bullying Trevor Project. Also dropping in was Diddy-Dirty Money to perform “Coming Home,” complete with a dramatic piano assist from Skylar Grey . The top 12 will do it all again next week. 50 Cent’s ‘Things Fall Apart’ Premieres In Miami Next Week

Fif reportedly lost 50 pounds for Mario Van Peebles-directed film. By Alvin Blanco 50 Cent Photo: David Livingston/ Getty Images It may have taken 50 Cent losing pounds to be recognized as a weighty actor. The film “Things Fall Apart,” which stars 50 Cent as a college football player stricken with cancer, will make its world premiere March 5 at the Miami International Film Festival . Last year, 50 Cent drew headlines over his commitment to playing the role of Deon Barnes, a University of Michigan football player whose hopes of an NFL career are derailed by a cancer diagnoses. For the role, 50 Cent reportedly lost more than 50 pounds. Stills from the film, directed by Mario Van Peebles, revealed that the rapper looking shockingly emaciated and nearly unrecognizable. “50 Cent’s physical transformation combined with Mario’s vision for the film kept the story fresh, gritty and powerful,” Miami International Film Festival Executive Director Jaie Laplante told AllHipHop.com . “Fans in Miami will have a unique opportunity to see the film well before the rest of the world does.” The film also lightened the Queens rapper’s pockets, since besides writing the script, he produced and financed the picture himself too, via his Cheetah Vision Films production company. Director Van Peebles also acts in the film along with Ray Liotta, who plays Barnes’ doctor, and Lynn Whitfield. 50 is taking the actor/rapper/mogul tag seriously. He recently signed on to star in a crime drama called “Freelancers,” which is going to be directed by Jesse Terrero. On the music side, the rapper is getting the buzz going on his forthcoming album, Black Magic, releasing a couple of new songs (“When I Come Back,” “Run Up on Me” freestyle) online to whet fans’ appetites. 50 also recently followed in the footsteps of Dr. Dre and launched his own high-end headphone line called Sleek by 50 Cent . The ‘American Idol’ Top 24, Twitterized

We break down the season 10 hopefuls, in 140 characters or less. By James Montgomery Contestants perform on “American Idol” on Wednesday Photo: FOX On Thursday night, “American Idol” revealed the remainder of the season 10 Top 24, a collection of singer/songwriters, balladeers, scatters, divas, perky teens and belters that will compete to become the heir to Lee DeWyze’s throne (perhaps he’s not the best example, but let’s move on). Unlike previous seasons, this year’s crop of contenders is long on talent, short on sob stories — Chris Medina’s exit made sure of that. And while it’s probably too early to say this, we could be looking at the most- gifted field of singers in “Idol” history (or at least since the epochal third season). So it would probably benefit you to get to know the field before the cruel cut-downs begin. And since we know you’re busy, we’ve decided to condense each contestant into a quick, 140-character bio, each ready to be cut-and-pasted into your very own Twitter feed. For your perusing pleasure, here’s our take on the “American Idol” top 24 — Twitterized. Because how else can you tell your Brett Loewensterns from your Clint Jun Gamboas? Ashthon Jones: Big hair, bigger voice. Bears uncanny resemblance to young Beyonc
