Seeing a rodent near your school’s dumpster is one thing, but finding a rat in the vending machine is another level of cringe. That was the case for students at a Delray Beach high school in Miami who said they lost their appetite after finding a rat crawling among the snacks in a vending machine. A spokesperson for the Palm Beach County School District says the principal was immediately made aware and the vending machine was locked so students couldn’t use it. The vending machine company sent out an exterminator the next day; but let’s hope they did more than remove the machine. Everyone knows that where there’s one visible rodent, there’s many more you haven’t seen.
Getty Images Florida Senior Dies Almost 60 Year After Getting Shot In The Neck A 77-year-old Florida pastor died from septic shock, a urinary tract infection , and paraplegia…all ailments caused from a gunshot wound to the neck that happened to the poor man when he was 19-years-old. CBS 12 says the death of the pastor, John Henry Barrett, has been ruled a homicide according to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s report. It wasn’t until nearly 60 years after the incident, the senior died from his injuries. Bizarre! Barrett was a pastor at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Pahokee for over 30 years. It was on May of this year when he passed away, but the medical examiner continued to look into Barrett’s medical records far after his passing, determining it wasn’t from “natural causes”. Unfortunately, detectives have looked into his case from 1958, the year he was shot and determined they couldn’t arrest the shooter for homicide, due to “double jeopardy”.
“Healthy Living” Bloggers Arrested For Child Neglect A couple that runs a healthy, holistic living blog has been arrested after the five children in their care were found malnourished and dirty , living inside a parked Toyota. Donell Barron, 34, and Rikki Hart, 34, the operators of Holistically Beautiful , are each being held in a Palm Beach County jail while investigators get to the bottom of the situation. Hart describes herself as a “mother of five,” however the formal relationship between Barron, Hart and the children — ages 14, 8, 6, 5 and 4 — is blacked out in the official police report. According to the Palm Beach Post , an officer reportedly found Barron, Hart and the five children inside a Toyota parked outside a local Walmart — an area known for high crime and drug activity. The cop in question noted that as he approached the vehicle, he detected a strong odor “similar to that of homeless camps.” Each of the five children was deemed underweight, but the 14-year-old was so “severely underweight to the point that his bones were clearly visible.” The boy weighed only 5 pounds more than his 8-year-old sibling and had unusually high blood pressure. Deputies discovered that the children ate about once a day and only salad and bread. Barron told deputies that the children bathed irregularly at a local park and had never been enrolled in school. Instead, the children were “home-schooled” inside the Toyota. Meanwhile, as the children reeked like a homeless camp and were visibly malnourished, Barron and Hart appeared to be clean and healthy. Florida zookeeper Stacey Konwiser was one of those people according to a story in the DailyMail … [Stacey]…was killed by a Malayan tiger in its enclosure screamed desperately into her radio for help before the 350-pound animal crushed her neck, an autopsy has found. Stacey Konwiser, 38, died of a fractured spine, a lacerated jugular and other neck injuries suffered when she was attacked on April 15 by ‘Hati’, the Palm Beach County medical examiner found. The male tiger, then 12 years old, had been at the zoo for two years on loan from the zoo in Fort Worth, Texas. Damn! Not mauled her with bites or claws…crushed her neck. Jesus. The report by medical examiner investigator Aleita J. Kinman says the tiger’s cage was supposed to be locked, but it was open, and Konwiser’s view of the animal may have been blocked by a large box inside the enclosure. Hearing her screams, Konwiser’s co-workers rushed to the tiger exhibit and found the tiger standing over her body. Some of you Harambe fans may find this next part interesting… Zoo officials have defended their decision not to shoot the rare tiger, saying they feared a bullet could strike Konwiser or further enrage Hati if it didn’t kill him instantly. Florida Man Posts Video Of Himself Beating Girlfriend With A Belt On Snapchat A Florida man just dry snitched on himself after he violently attacked a teenage girl and posted the footage onto Snapchat according to WSVN reports: A man in Palm Beach County could have gotten away with a violent crime, but thanks to Snapchat, the popular social media app used by millions, he is now in jail and facing charges. According to a report by the Sun Sentinel, on May 16, 18-year-old Smith Dorcent of Boynton Beach tied up a 17-year-old girl, beat her with a belt, and filmed the entire violent act on her own Snapchat. An arrest report said Dorcent forced the victim to unlock her phone after she refused to give him her password. Then, he filmed himself beating her up on her very own Snapchat account. That is when several people who knew the victim saw the video on her Snapchat and immediately called police. According to police, after speaking with the victim, they discovered the suspect had kept her tied up for several minutes after posting the video. When will this generation learn to put their damn phones down?!?
His mixtape … Man Pulled Over By Cops Gives Them His Mixtape A Florida man who was stopped by the cops raised eyebrows after authorities say he declined to give them his license—and passed them his mixtape instead. The Sun Sentinel reports: After being pulled over on suspicion of reckless driving in front of a Delray Beach high school, police officers asked for Volvique Louis Jean Jr.’s driver’s license. Instead, police said, he pulled out something else with his name on it — his homemade rap CD. Jean Jr., 18, was arrested on Wednesday by the Palm Beach County School District Police. Police said Jean Jr. pulled up to Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach just before 3 p.m. on Oct. 28 along with two other cars. They sped into the school’s bus loop, narrowly missing students being dismissed from school, police said. Officers in a golf cart followed the cars, pulled into the center of the road and forced the three cars to stop. When they walked up to Jean Jr.’s car, they asked him for his driver’s license. He pulled out his new CD. One of the other people in another car yelled out to the officer that they were just at the school to pick up a friend. According to the arrest report, the officers said they recognized some of the people in the cars — including Jean Jr. — as former students. The cars peeled out into the road and fled the scene, almost hitting more students as they left, according to the arrest report. Jean Jr. is charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and trespassing on school grounds. Principal Accused Of Plagiarizing Commencement Speech SMH…really?! WPBF reports: West Boca High School Principal Mark Stenner took the stage on May 22 at the South Florida fairgrounds expo center and started the commencement address. “Commencement is life’s great ceremonial beginning with its own attendant and highly appropriate symbolism…” Stenner can be heard reciting before hundreds of parents and graduates in this video posted to the Palm Beach County School District’s website. But there’s another commencement speech recording that may sound familiar to Stenner’s speech. Massachusetts’ English teacher David McCullough, Junior addressed the class of 2012 at Wellesley High School. A speech written three years earlier; a speech Principal Stenner repeated almost word for word, but never mentioned McCullough. McCullough’s speech went viral, uploaded to YouTube with more than 2.5 million views. It became known as the “You Are Not Special” speech and landed him a book deal. WPBF 25 News went through both speeches line by line. Other than slight word changes here and there and different location examples when necessary, the majority of Stenner’s speech seems to echo McCullough’s without giving credit. WPBF 25 News reached out to both Principal Stenner and the Palm Beach County School district. Neither could comment. Berzinski was told an investigation is currently underway and the matter cannot be discussed. Man Attacks Woman For Refusing To Have Sex With Him After He Bought Her McDonald’s via Palm Beach Post A West Palm Beach man is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail after he allegedly beat a woman who refused to have sex with him after he bought her breakfast at McDonald’s. Justin Jarrard Oliver is facing charges of felony battery and false imprisonment. Oliver, 26, is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail. The woman told West Palm Beach police that she and her boyfriend picked up Oliver in her car Wednesday morning then drove to the McDonald’s on 45th Street west of Australian Avenue. The trio placed their order and Oliver paid the tab, according to an arrest report. Oliver then “demanded sex from (the victim) due to him buying her McDonald’s food,” the report said. As the woman was driving, Oliver allegedly “grabbed her by the arm/hand and attempted to pull her into the rear seat for sex,” according to the report. The woman screamed and held on to the steering wheel before bringing the car to an abrupt stop on 35th Street near Broadway. Once the vehicle stopped, Oliver jumped out and tried to pull the victim out of the car while again demanding sex, the report said. Oliver allegedly punched the woman with his fist, causing “severe injuries” that included a 1 1/2-inch laceration above her left eye and numerous other cuts and abrasions, the report said. The woman’s boyfriend jumped on Oliver’s back, allowing the woman to move the car a short distance away. The boyfriend then got back in the car and the woman drove to St. Mary’s Medical Center. The hospital staff alerted police. Police found Oliver near the location of the assault. He refused to answer questions from police, citing his right not to incriminate himself, the report said.
