DAYUUUUUUM! No wonder Chris Tucker has been back on the road doing stand-up. The residuals from Friday and Rush Hour must not have been enough to cover his whopping $25K monthly mortgage payments! According to PEOPLE reports: Rush Hour star Chris Tucker’s $6 million Florida mansion is in foreclosure, with more than $4.4 million owed to the bank, reports the Orlando Sentinel, citing papers filed in Circuit Court in Lake County. Tucker, 39, bought the 10,000-sq.-ft. waterfront home on Lake Apopka, near Orlando, in 2007. The newspaper says the residence contains five bedrooms, three fireplaces, a personal spa, an outdoor kitchen overlooking a pool, and a basement outfitted to resemble a pirate ship, including the sail. Court documents reportedly show an $11.5 million IRS lien on the home in 2011 in order to collect federal income taxes from Tucker, whose monthly mortgage payment, the documents also show, was $25,812.50. There has been no comment from Tucker, but the Times Union of Albany, N.Y., reports that his comedy show scheduled in the city for this Sunday – and was a rescheduling of a postponed Sept. 3 performance – has been canceled because of “unforeseen circumstances.” Damn shame… This just goes to show, it’s hard out here for everybody. But at the same time, what was this dude doing buying a home with a $25K mortgage in 2007??? Keep in mind when you are buying these crazy cribs you will also be spending a fortune on maintenance and TAXES. And Uncle Same don’t play! Good luck with this bad situation Smokey.
Chris Tucker used to get it in as a movie star after appearing in blockbusters like the “Rush Hour” trilogy and other films (“Friday” is STILL hilarious). But we haven’t seen the Decatur native in any roles since 2007 when he starred in “Rush Hour 3″ alongside Jackie Chan. Chris Tucker recently returned to his standup comic roots by doing some shows in comedy clubs and one at the Fox Theatre last year, and it may not be long before we see him in another film. According to MovieFone.com , Tucker is in talks with execs to co-star in two high-profile projects: ‘The Silver Linings Playbook” with Bradley Cooper and “Neighborhood Watch” with Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill. Movies teem with ridiculous dialogue, but only a few pop with memorably bad one-liners. Our friends at BuzzFeed compiled a list of 20 dubious movie lines, and while I’d have suggested more material from The Room or, say, anything in Black Swan , I’m more interested in what the Movieline hivemind thinks are worst. What say you, elite?
Earlier today, various trades reported that Chris Tucker is circling two big Hollywood roles — one in David O. Russell’s The Silver Linings Playbook and the other in Neighborhood Watch opposite Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill. Nearly all reports also noted that Tucker has been curiously absent from the box office since 2007’s Rush Hour 3 , which is strange considering that the actor was in the middle of a career upswing that started with Friday , continued with his Jackie Chan franchise and could have ended with the actor becoming one of the most marketable movie stars this decade. But after some careful math, Movieline HQ can tell you exactly why Tucker was free to retreat from the box office…
