By Gil Kaufman Tone Loc Photo: Todd Williamson/ Getty Images “Wild Thing” rapper Tone Loc was in a Los Angeles courtroom on Thursday, where the 45-year-old MC (born Anthony Smith) pleaded not guilty to felony possession of an assault weapon and domestic violence charges. Loc was arrested last month for suspicion of felony domestic violence following an alleged altercation with the mother of one of his children. According to TMZ , police found an unregistered military-grade assault rifle, a semi-automatic Colt AR-15 Sporter, during their investigation into the incident on June 18. He is slated to return to court in the case on July 28. Last December, Loc was arrested for DUI, but his manager told TMZ that his client does not drink and it was a seizure that caused him to drive erratically. Best known for his gravelly voice and laid-back attitude, Loc had two best-selling singles from his 1989 debut, Loc-ed After Dark, which was followed by the less-successful 1991 disc Cool Hand Loc. After his music career cooled off, the rapper used his unmistakable voice to launch a second career as a voice-over actor and sometime movie actor, appearing in films such as “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane” and “Posse.” He’s also lent his voice to the movies “FernGully: The Last Rainforest,” “A Cool Like That Christmas” and “Titan A.E.,” as well as the TV shows “King of the Hill” and “C-Bear and Jamal.”
Bruce Beresford-Redman, the former TV producer accused of killing his wife outside a resort in Cancun, has been ordered back to Quintana Roo, Mexico to stand trial on charges of aggravated homicide. The incident took place in November, when the body of Bruce’s wife, Monica, washed up in a sewer system near the hotel where she had been staying with her family. The cause of death was asphyxiation. Bruce’s attorneys claimed the police were too quick to charge their client and lacked any physical evidence. But United States prosecutors say fellow guests heard screams emanating from the couple’s room and that detectives subsequent discovered blood spatter in the bathroom and in other areas of the room. The ex- Survivor producer has been behind bars in Los Angeles, but will soon be moved to Mexico. He faces up to 30 years in prison if found guilty.
Nicki Minaj says she was struck in the face by a male acquaintance yesterday. But the artist does not want to press any charges. Here’s what went down: Minaj and an unidentified man were allegedly arguing poolside at the Palomar Hotel in Dallas. As the verbal sparring intensified, the man left for his hotel room, the singer told an employee to call the cops and then she followed the man back inside. Once there, she says he hit her in the lower lip. When the police arrived, Minaj explained what happened but said she did not want to press charges. She added that the opponent was not her boyfriend. What was the most difficult time for the singer? “Spending Christmas in treatment was really, really difficult,” she said. “I just remember sometimes sitting there and being like, ‘I had so much just six months ago, and here I am in a treatment center. What has my life become? How did I let it get to this point?'” Demi says she was never suicidal, but times grew “really dark.” Lovato recorded “Skyscraper” soon before entering rehab. She says of the experience: “I just sat there and I just cried my eyes out, I was almost doubled over with emotion… it was crazy. I tried to re-record it but, it didn’t have that same emotion and that same almost cry for help that I had when I first recorded it.” Look for the music video to come out this week.

“The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd went into an emotional tirade on air about Bishop Eddie Long recently. She believes emphatically that Long took the “coward road” when he settled the sexual misconduct charges against him and sealed the records so that the details will never be revealed. Two days later, and the most die-hard fans still can’t get enough of watching and re-watching the nearly two-minute extravaganza. Because we anticipated a few over-the-top enthusiastic responses, MTV News asked fans to upload their “Breaking Dawn” trailer reactions to Your.MTV.com , the top three aired on MTV’s “The Seven,” on Monday. But since we received so many wonderful reaction videos, we felt that we needed to highlight a few more. This latest group features similar themes of breathlessness, wide-eyed enthusiasm and, of course, squeals of delight. One video features five young girls perched on a couch in a room surrounded by “Team Edward” paraphernalia, all of them remaining mostly composed, until one little lady pretends to faint after seeing shirtless Taylor Lautner. The reactions from Emily and Lizzy in Haysville, Kansas, go from smiley to stunned to squealy. Also notable is the fact that a young guy is hanging out in the background, probably a brother or friend, who tries to sit through the ladies’ screams but bails halfway through. Finally, uploader ayLa94kLd submitted footage of herself and her sister’s reactions. The lively duo were the first reactors we’ve seen to offer a bit of running commentary throughout. At one point, the older sis playfully smacks her younger sister to keep her from fully freaking out.
