Robert Pattinson’s Not Suiting Up For ‘Daredevil’ … Yet

The ‘Water for Elephants’ star said he fears fanboy backlash when it comes to superhero movies. By Aly Semigran, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News Imagine Robert Pattinson in tights, fighting crime as an iconic character. While the heartthrob would undoubtedly have the Twihards lining up for days to see him play a superhero, he thinks there’s one set of moviegoers who wouldn’t be nearly as keen on the idea: fanboys! During Friday’s “MTV First: Robert Pattinson,” a live, 30-minute chat with the “Water for Elephants” star, RPattz revealed he would, in fact, take on a superhero role if it were presented to him. “I’d love [to] definitely.” But the actor does have some reservations about taking on the genre, including which superhero he would play. “I don’t know what superhero you’d do. Is there any left?” he asked. Robert did, however, admit that there’s one character he’d like to suit up for, but he gave pause when he realized what a stir he might cause by even mentioning it. “I shouldn’t even say this stuff, ’cause all the little fanboys will be like, ‘No! I’m gonna shoot him!’ ” he joked. So, while we may never know which character Robert is “such a big fan” of, we do know that he’s not yet in contention for the role of Matt Murdock in “Eclipse” director David Slade’s upcoming “Daredevil” reboot . “I don’t know where that one came from at all,” Robert said of the rumors that he was lined up to play the comic book vigilante. But, that wasn’t the only thing he found confusing about the future remake. When MTV News mentioned another “Daredevil” was in the works, Robert asked, “[That] Ben Affleck movie?” He then pondered with a laugh about the 2003 flick, “That’s weird, didn’t that only come out about three years ago?” The 24-year-old star did have some casting ideas of his own. “Get David Slade to play him,” Robert said of his former “Eclipse” director. “Oh no, he should play, who’s the bald guy? Bullseye!” Which superhero would you like to see Robert Pattinson play? Completely Similar Directors Darren Aronofsky and David Slade Vying for Wolverine 2

“I guess I don’t do genre very well,” trippy filmmaker Darren Aronofsky recently admitted to MTV . Naturally, then, 20th Century Fox wants the filmmaker behind Black Swan and The Fountain to be a director for hire on Wolverine 2. No, really! Aronofsky joins the still in-contention David Slade as a contender for the gig, and it might not be quite as weird a choice as you think — after all, at one point Aronofsky wanted to direct a Batman film . But no, it’s still pretty weird. [ Deadline ]

‘Eclipse’ Director David Slade Reveals Kristen Stewart’s Deleted Scenes

‘There’s a lovely scene between Angela and Bella where they’re just two girls getting along,’ filmmaker says of possible ‘Eclipse’ DVD bonuses. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz David Slade Photo: MTV News Last November, “New Moon” director Chris Weitz told us that the DVD release of the second film in the “Twilight” franchise would deliver 20 minutes of deleted footage for hungry fans. But when the disc dropped in March, no such scenes were included on virtually any available version . Weitz eventually copped to the mistake, but “Twilight” fans might remain wary about promises of deleted scenes for the DVD of “Eclipse.” So approach director David Slade’s statements with both the usual enthusiasm and abundant caution, because he’s promised MTV News that the DVD will definitely contain deleted scenes — and at least two will feature Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan. “There’s a lovely scene between Angela and Bella where they’re just two girls getting along and they’re just talking about girl stuff, about jealousy,” said Slade of the two high school friends. “Bella’s so completely and utterly wrapped up in all of this stuff — that Angela has no idea about — [and Bella] is blind to the basic human stuff in front of her. It’s a lovely scene, and I’m sure it will be on the DVD. It just stopped the film dead. The film had a pace and it just stopped dead.” Indeed, there is very little in “Eclipse” of Bella in her high school setting: one or two scenes in the cafeteria, a brief graduation scene, and not much else. Rather, the movie focuses on the Bella-Edward-Jacob love triangle and the growing threat Victoria and her army of newborn vampires pose to the community. With a film that runs just over two hours, a director is simply forced to make tough choices. “It was one of those things we ended up reluctantly removing, but it will be there for later, for prosperity,” Slade said of the scene. Aside from Bella and Angela’s conversation, Slade admitted that not much was left on the cutting-room floor. “There’s not much fat,” he said. But there is a touching scene between Bella and her father that fans can get excited to see. “We did this one scene of Charlie just telling Bella how proud he is of her, which was wonderful and really touching,” Slade said. “But again, it just kind of stopped you.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Taylor Lautner Compares His ‘Twilight’ Directors

‘Our directors are so different from one another,’ he says of Catherine Hardwicke, Chris Weitz, David Slade and Bill Condon. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Taylor Lautner in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” Photo: Summit Entertainment Catherine Hardwicke gave him his big break. Chris Weitz made him a star. David Slade inherited a Hollywood veteran. And Bill Condon will help cement his legacy. Yes, it’s been quite a journey for Taylor Lautner, from his beginnings in Hardwicke’s “Twilight” to his emergence as the third point in the franchise’s smoldering teen love triangle during Weitz’s “New Moon.” On Wednesday, Slade’s “Eclipse” gives us a Lautner who has become Hollywood’s go-to guy for young action roles. Then in the fall, he’ll join up with Condon to bring “Breaking Dawn” to the big screen and the vampire series to a close. Given the craziness and good fortune of the past few years, Lautner can’t pick which of these directors is his favorite. He will go so far as to say “Eclipse” is his favorite flick of the three thus far, but he has nothing except kind words for all the folks who have sat in the director’s chair on a “Twilight” movie. “The funny thing is, our directors are so different from one another,” Lautner told MTV News. “I didn’t have the opportunity to work with Catherine that much, but she was amazing. She’s very smart and so creative.” Back in November, Lautner called Weitz’s directorial style “flawless,” and months later, his opinion of the man has not changed. “Chris was phenomenal — his sensibility. He’s so sensitive,” the 18-year-old said. “It really matched ‘New Moon’ ‘s feel.” And while Lautner has fond feelings for that film, “Eclipse” is his favorite , if only because it has the most action. “David brought his darker, cooler, more dangerous feel to ‘Eclipse,’ which was awesome,” Lautner said. Finally, there are the two parts of “Breaking Dawn,” which will begin filming in the fall. Lautner hasn’t yet had a chance to sit down with Condon to talk about the series, but he can’t wait for the opportunity. “I met him briefly,” Lautner said. “Very quickly. Not about ‘Breaking Dawn.’ He seems like a very nice guy. Obviously ridiculously talented, so I’m excited I get to work with him twice.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Eclipse’ Star Tinsel Korey Talks Favorite Scenes, 2010 MTV Movie Awards

‘He’s always thinking about the fuller picture with all the fight scenes,’ actress says of ‘Eclipse’ director David Slade. By Kara Warner Photo: MTV News As Twi-Hards know, the actors, directors and assorted crew associated with “Twilight” are typically under strict orders to stay mum about most details related to the films. So although castmember Tinsel Korey — she plays wolf pack den mother Emily Young — couldn’t reveal too much about the upcoming “Eclipse” when MTV News caught up with her, she did open up about the vampire franchise’s latest director. David Slade (“30 Days of Night”) helmed “Eclipse,” due June 30, and Korey had nothing but kind words for him. “He’s great. He’s a really different director from Chris Weitz,” Korey told MTV News, comparing Slade to the man who led “New Moon.” “Chris Weitz is an actor’s director, where you focus on all the emotion, whereas David Slade is more technical, so there’s a distance because he’s always thinking about the fuller picture with all the fight scenes.” Just back from the Cannes Film Festival, where she promoted her independent feature “Stained,” Korey also talked about the scene she’s most excited to see onscreen. While she hasn’t seen the finished third installment, the “wolf pack” creation story, she said, is a “beautiful moment” of storytelling. With the 2010 MTV Movie Awards set to air June 6, we asked what she thought the chances were that “New Moon” would claim Best Movie over “Avatar” and “The Hangover.” Not surprisingly, Korey said she had no doubt her movie would take the golden popcorn
