GALLERY: Twilight Stars Come Out to Support Chris Weitz’s A Better Life

Chris Weitz ‘s L.A. -set drama A Better Life features no stars (well, its lead is ‘the George Clooney of Mexico’) and no vampires, but it got a profile boost Tuesday night when two of the stars of Weitz’s last movie, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner , made a red carpet appearance in support of their former director. Fresh off of filming on November’s Breaking Dawn , the Twilight duo posed for photos but left the media spotlight to Weitz and Co. to talk up their potential awards contender, about an illegal immigrant father and his teenage son struggling to make it in East L.A.

Taylor Lautner Compares His ‘Twilight’ Directors

‘Our directors are so different from one another,’ he says of Catherine Hardwicke, Chris Weitz, David Slade and Bill Condon. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Taylor Lautner in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” Photo: Summit Entertainment Catherine Hardwicke gave him his big break. Chris Weitz made him a star. David Slade inherited a Hollywood veteran. And Bill Condon will help cement his legacy. Yes, it’s been quite a journey for Taylor Lautner, from his beginnings in Hardwicke’s “Twilight” to his emergence as the third point in the franchise’s smoldering teen love triangle during Weitz’s “New Moon.” On Wednesday, Slade’s “Eclipse” gives us a Lautner who has become Hollywood’s go-to guy for young action roles. Then in the fall, he’ll join up with Condon to bring “Breaking Dawn” to the big screen and the vampire series to a close. Given the craziness and good fortune of the past few years, Lautner can’t pick which of these directors is his favorite. He will go so far as to say “Eclipse” is his favorite flick of the three thus far, but he has nothing except kind words for all the folks who have sat in the director’s chair on a “Twilight” movie. “The funny thing is, our directors are so different from one another,” Lautner told MTV News. “I didn’t have the opportunity to work with Catherine that much, but she was amazing. She’s very smart and so creative.” Back in November, Lautner called Weitz’s directorial style “flawless,” and months later, his opinion of the man has not changed. “Chris was phenomenal — his sensibility. He’s so sensitive,” the 18-year-old said. “It really matched ‘New Moon’ ‘s feel.” And while Lautner has fond feelings for that film, “Eclipse” is his favorite , if only because it has the most action. “David brought his darker, cooler, more dangerous feel to ‘Eclipse,’ which was awesome,” Lautner said. Finally, there are the two parts of “Breaking Dawn,” which will begin filming in the fall. Lautner hasn’t yet had a chance to sit down with Condon to talk about the series, but he can’t wait for the opportunity. “I met him briefly,” Lautner said. “Very quickly. Not about ‘Breaking Dawn.’ He seems like a very nice guy. Obviously ridiculously talented, so I’m excited I get to work with him twice.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Jackson Rathbone Excited To Have ‘Twilight’ ‘Family Reunion’ For ‘Breaking Dawn’

‘Eclipse’ star admits he knows little about film’s script, schedule. By Jocelyn Vena Jackson Rathbone Photo: MTV News The third movie in the “Twilight” saga, “Eclipse,” doesn’t hit theaters until July 2. But fans are already wondering when the crew will get together to film the last installment ( or two ) of the series. “Breaking Dawn” may have all the actors back on board , a release date and a director , but Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper Hale in the movies, admitted that he still has much to learn about the project. “I have not spoken to [“Eclipse” director] Bill Condon yet, but I’m excited to,” Rathbone told MTV News last week, when he was in Los Angeles for the MTV Movie Awards. “He’s an incredible director, [an] Academy Award winner. That’s amazing, so it’s just another awesome director to handle the ‘Twilight’ franchise. “[‘Twilight’ director] Catherine Hardwicke brought a very independent feel. [‘New Moon’ director] Chris Weitz kind of made it a little more beautiful and elegant and [‘Eclipse’ director] David Slade’s going a little darker… so I’m excited to see what Bill Condon does,” Rathbone continued. “I really have no idea. I haven’t even seen a script for ‘Breaking Dawn’ yet, to be honest. I’m right there with you, still waiting.” Rathbone admitted that he didn’t quite know the timetable for shooting “Breaking Dawn,” either. “I don’t! I could lie though! I will lie to you,” the “The Last Airbender” star teased. He then made up this scenario: “We’re filming it tomorrow, all of it in one day. We’re just gonna drink a lot of Red Bulls and we’re gonna have a green screen and go through it; no script even. We’re gonna make it up. You know what? We’re gonna try for all tomorrow.” Many of the elements of “Breaking Dawn” are still unknown, but Rathbone is certain of one thing: He’s happy that the whole cast is reuniting. “I just wanted the family to be together,” he said. “We grew up [together]. Every time we get to film with one another, it’s like a family reunion.” Related Photos ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’

‘Eclipse’ Star Tinsel Korey Talks Favorite Scenes, 2010 MTV Movie Awards

‘He’s always thinking about the fuller picture with all the fight scenes,’ actress says of ‘Eclipse’ director David Slade. By Kara Warner Photo: MTV News As Twi-Hards know, the actors, directors and assorted crew associated with “Twilight” are typically under strict orders to stay mum about most details related to the films. So although castmember Tinsel Korey — she plays wolf pack den mother Emily Young — couldn’t reveal too much about the upcoming “Eclipse” when MTV News caught up with her, she did open up about the vampire franchise’s latest director. David Slade (“30 Days of Night”) helmed “Eclipse,” due June 30, and Korey had nothing but kind words for him. “He’s great. He’s a really different director from Chris Weitz,” Korey told MTV News, comparing Slade to the man who led “New Moon.” “Chris Weitz is an actor’s director, where you focus on all the emotion, whereas David Slade is more technical, so there’s a distance because he’s always thinking about the fuller picture with all the fight scenes.” Just back from the Cannes Film Festival, where she promoted her independent feature “Stained,” Korey also talked about the scene she’s most excited to see onscreen. While she hasn’t seen the finished third installment, the “wolf pack” creation story, she said, is a “beautiful moment” of storytelling. With the 2010 MTV Movie Awards set to air June 6, we asked what she thought the chances were that “New Moon” would claim Best Movie over “Avatar” and “The Hangover.” Not surprisingly, Korey said she had no doubt her movie would take the golden popcorn

Chris Weitz Teases Eclipse as "Very Steamy"

Take this from someone in the know: Eclipse is gonna be hot! Chris Weitz, who directed New Moon , tells People magazine he’s read the script for the Twilight Saga’s third installment and fans will NOT be disappointed. Especially in one specific scene. “I’m looking forward to the sleeping bag scene, I gotta say,” Weitz said . “That’s going to be very steamy.” As readers of the book franchise know, Weitz is referring to the moment where a freezing Bella (on the run from Victoria) gets warmed up from Jacob… while Edward angrily, awkwardly, angrily looks on. The director also says he’s excited to see Elizabeth Reaser and Peter Facinelli get into the intense action of Eclipse . “I have a special interest in seeing Peter and Elizabeth tear people’s heads off,” Weitz said. “Knowing them, and how kind of kooky and delightful they are, I’m going to find seeing them being ultra-violent very interesting indeed.” Yeah. That’s fine and all. We just wanna see Taylor Lautner shirtless . Eclipse opens on June 30.
