On The Come Up: Playboy Becky Jenny McCarthy To Join “The View”

Out with the old and in with the new. Jenny McCarthy To Join “The View” According to People One bubbly, perky – and outspoken – blonde is about to be replaced by another. Less than a week after the departure of Elisabeth Hasselbeck from the syndicated daytime talkfest The View comes confirmation that Jenny McCarthy will succeed her when the show returns for its 17th season Sept. 9. “YUP, I’M DOING ‘THE VIEW’!” McCarthy trumpeted on her blog Monday. “When word got out that Joy [Behar] was leaving ‘The View,’ I knew that the timing of my desire and her departure might be serendipitous for me.” “Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor,” the show’s original host and co-executive producer Barbara Walters said in a statement released by ABC Monday morning. Added the veteran media personality, 86, who next summer plans to retire from appearing on the show: “She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for The View.” McCarthy, 40, a former Playboy Playmate and talk host – of her own show, where she ignited her latest romance, with Donnie Wahlberg – said in her statement about joining Walters, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd on the program: “I’m beyond thrilled … I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off.” Jenny will definitely bring some hotness to “The View.” Barbara is as old as the New Testament and Whoopi….we’ll leave that alone.

Really? Woman Gets Cancer In Her Eye After Too Much Exposure To The Sun

Wow, this is odd. Woman Gets Cancer In Her Eye According to Mail Online When Joanne Hill popped into Boots for a routine eye-test, she thought she might finally need to give in to middle age and start wearing glasses. At 42, she had been suffering from ‘tired eyes’ for several weeks. But rather than being given a prescription for spectacles, she found herself being referred for urgent tests. Her optician had noticed a strange shadow in the bottom corner of her right eye. Initially, a shocked Joanne was advised it could be something as straightforward as a freckle on the eyeball – which many of us develop as a result of normal exposure to sunlight. Or, although this was unlikely, it could be cancer. ‘I was stunned. I wasn’t ill and I didn’t feel unwell,’ says the engineer from Todmorden, West Yorkshire. ‘Like most people I wasn’t aware you could get freckles on your eyes, never mind skin cancer. It was all a bit confusing.’ She was sent to the eye unit at Warrington Hospital for tests, and doctors told her she had an ocular melanoma (a mole) on her retina and that it could be malignant. ‘They said it was a mole, just like one you’d find on any other part of the body,’ she says. ‘If it had been on my arm, they would have told me to keep a look out for any changes myself – but because it was on the eye, they would have to do that for me. My “tired eyes” were nothing to do with it.’ ‘When the doctors said they wanted to start treatment the next day I realised how serious it was.’ Did you know you could get cancer in your eye? Damon Lindelof Not Returning To Confuse Audiences On ‘Prometheus 2’

Damon Lindelof may be leaving Ridley Scott’s Alien universe on a vague, quasi-philosophical note that leaves no one feeling fully satisfied, indicating this week that he won’t be penning the sequel to Prometheus . Speaking to Collider , Lindelof talked first about the possible direction the Prometheus franchise-within-a-franchise could take, and then explained why he won’t be returning for round two. While he doesn’t quite come out and say it plain, he does admit circumspectly that the popular response to his script may have had a small influence on his decision. “I think what ended up happening,” Lindelof said, “was that the movie came out, and there was a reaction to the movie.” There’s far more to it than that, of course. Lindelof is, despite the haters, very busy. “…I got really wrapped up in [ Star Trek Into Darkness ] and really wrapped up in this movie that I’m producing and writing with Brad Bird,” he said, referring to the Disney film currently code-named 1952 . Lindelof also cited an upcoming TV project he’s passionate about, all of which led him to conclude he wouldn’t be able to make the kind of commitment a project like Prometheus 2 would require. Fortunately, according to his telling of events, Scott was fine with it. “I said to him, ‘I really don’t think I could start working on this movie until I do this other stuff. And I don’t know when the other stuff is going to be done.’ And he was like, ‘Well, okay, it’s not like I asked you anyways.'” But do we even need a sequel? To my mind, a continuation of Prometheus would just be an exercise in throwing good money after horrendously convoluted money. But what about you, readers? Do you want to see a return to the Alien universe? Does Lindelof’s exit from the series make you happy, or as frustrated as when you found out that the castaways were (spoiler alert) in purgatory? Prometheus Secrets Revealed: What Did David Say to the Engineer?

Of the many, many unexplained puzzles left untangled in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus , one deliberately vague scene has had Prometheus -watchers scratching their heads and speculating for weeks — let’s call it the “Lost in Translation” question. So what did Michael Fassbender’s David say, in non-translated ancient alien-speak, to a certain you-know-who in Prometheus ? Actual answers within! Spoilers follow. Over at The Bioscopist blog, Stu Holmes was wondering the same question when he managed to track down the real-life linguistics expert who served as consultant on the film, Dr. Anil Biltoo of London’s SOAS Language Centre. Biltoo not only taught Fassbender how to speak in Proto-Indo-European (PIE) language as the android David — seen studying ancient communication as the crew sleeps in the film’s opening measures — he also appeared onscreen as the holographic linguistics teacher David learns from as he recites the real-life text Schleicher’s Fable, a story created in 1868 in the reconstructed PIE language. While Scott, Damon Lindelof , and Co. remain mum about Prometheus ‘s many open-ended provocations, Biltoo revealed what it is that David whispers to the Engineer at the end of the film, setting off the being’s violent rampage: The line that David speaks to the Engineer (which is from a longer sequence that didn’t make the final edit) is as follows: /ida hmanəm aɪ kja namṛtuh zdɛ:taha/…/ghʷɪvah-pjorn-ɪttham sas da:tṛ kredah/ A serviceable translation into English is: ‘This man is here because he does not want to die. He believes you can give him more life’. Aha! So… according to Dr. Biltoo, David did as directed by Weyland, with no funny business involved. I’d entertained the thought that David had deliberately provoked the Engineer into attacking Weyland, but Biltoo sets the record, and David, straight: A loyal robot to the end. Kinda. The revelation also supports the idea that the Engineers were set on punishing humanity for their flaws and hubris, though why the Engineer then tore off David’s head is still a mystery. More intriguing is what Dr. Biltoo shares about that scene: There was a full conversation in the PIE language between David and the Engineer. “We’re all going to have to wait for the director’s cut to see if the conversation between the Engineer and David — and there was indeed originally a conversation, not merely an utterance from David — yields any fruit,” he said. How does the David revelation affect your thoughts on Prometheus ? Sound off below. [ The Bioscopist via Rope of Silicon ]
