New Actor Redaric Williams Covers Rolling Out Magazine The soap opera world just got a fresh new male face with a sun-kissed body and he goes by the name of Redaric Williams. The Detroit-born hard body is the newcomer on the set of the long-running daytime soap opera series “The Young & The Restless,” where he plays the son of former Y&R lovebirds Drucilla (Victoria Rowell) and Malcolm (Shemar Moore). He recently stopped by Rolling Out Magazine to flaunt his chiseled physique, dish details on his new role, and reveal how he feels about being considered Motor City man candy. Check out a few interview excerpts below: On his hometown: Ask him where he’s from and he’ll say Detroit without hesitation even though he moved around a lot as a kid. Still, he was born in Michigan and graduated from high school in the Motor City. “Detroit is my city,” he says with obvious affection. “I have an affinity for Detroit. I always have. Always will. I haven’t been back in years but Detroit is definitely my city.” On his role on “The Young & The Restless” and being compared to Shemar Moore: “I underestimated how huge the soap world is and how diverse the viewing demographic is,” he admits. Some fans who are not feeling Tyler have tried to dismiss Williams as a Shemar Moore wannabe but Williams, who is clear that he is his own man, is flattered by any comparisons, positive and negative, to Moore. “If you compare me to Shemar, I am honored,” he says. “He’s a great guy. He’s doing his thing — stamped, sealed and solidified — and to be able to be mentioned in the same sentence is an honor.” On being considered a sex symbol: “I don’t see myself as that so I don’t think I’d ever be comfortable in something that I don’t see myself as,” he explains, “but I am aware of it and I’m kind of fine with it in the sense that I know that that’s what’s required for what I’m trying to do career-wise.” We certainly look forward to seeing more of Redaric and his abs in around Hollyweird. Ladies, would you hit it? You can peep a few more pics of Redaric on the flip to help you decide…

The new trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s Behind The Candelabra sure is compelling, but will the HBO movie do justice to Liberace ? The clip leaves little doubt that Michael Douglas , who plays the flamboyant entertainer in this tragicomic love story, and Matt Damon , who portrays his much younger lover, Scott Thorson , are going to be memorable, and that Soderbergh has taken a measured approach to the camp aspects of this story. But what I can’t tell from the footage is whether Behind The Candelabra will give Liberace his due as a pioneering postwar performance artist. Liberace’s Cultural Impact It’s easy to mock Liberace’s extreme sequin & fur vibe and lifestyle, but, the reality is, he was a show-business maverick who had an incredible influence on American pop culture. For better or worse, you can trace jump-suited Vegas-era Elvis , Elton John , 1970s glam rock, Siegfried & Roy , Madonna , Lady Gaga and even elements of The Incredible Burt Wonderstone to Liberace’s show-business DNA. Way back in the conservative 1950s, he was swanning into American homes via a syndicated television show and mesmerizing audiences with a combination of shock and schmaltz. Even if he never did come out of the closet, he still broke down a lot of barriers just by letting his freak flag fly. I’m sure that Liberace’s cultural significance is not lost on Soderbergh, but I do hope Behind The Candelabra acknowledges it in some smart way. Even if it doesn’t, I’ll be watching when the film premieres on HBO on May 26. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.
One of the great perks about working out of the Alamo Drafthouse’s next door hangout spot The Highball between SXSW films? Listening to the dynamic stylings of Cuban-born musician CuCu Diamantes during her soundcheck on the back room stage. The Grammy-nominated singer is in town with a pseudo-doc/fiction film in which she stars as herself, filmed with live concert footage; just listening to her rehearse bumped Amor Cronico onto my want-to-see list. Trailer after the jump! Synopsis: Amor Cronico follows the flamboyant Grammy nominated Cuban-born and New York based singer CuCu Diamantes on her tour around Cuba. The film interweaves footage of live musical performances with a fictional love story narrative. The result is an energetic display of CuCu Diamantes’ glamorous performance style with a fresh Latin soundtrack and comical twist. It is at unique road movie and portrait of a Cuban artist traveling back to her roots. Amor Cronico is directed by Jorge Perugorria and world premieres tonight at SXSW.
Back in 2007, during the filming of Bruno , Sacha Baron Cohen and his film crew stormed a California bingo hall. They asked the unsuspecting patrons to sign Standard Consent Agreements, alleged that they were filming a “documentary-style film,” and then Bruno was invited on stage to call numbers. Only instead of just calling numbers, the flamboyant Austrian character related each digit to a milestone in his relationship with a former gay partner — a showy extreme that ended in tears, a call to the paramedics, security officers forcibly removing Cohen, a “brain bleed” and a lawsuit against NBC Universal, that we learn today, the studio has won.

Michael Douglas will attend the Golden Globe Awards this Sunday, marking the actor’s first public appearance since declaring himself cancer-free . But the actor will be doing more than just walking the red carpet in the near future: he’s ready to get back to work. For his next role, Douglas will take on the flamboyant musician, Liberace. “I’ve been watching a lot of tapes of him,” he told People . “He wasn’t the greatest dancer nor the greatest singer, but he was a great pianist and entertainer.” Douglas says he’ll take piano lessons for the film, which will likely be released next year some time. At the Golden Globes, meanwhile, the veteran star is up for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Gordon Gekko in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps .
Some fans were floored by it, and others weren’t impressed, but it’s safe to say that 19-year-old Siobhan Magnus’ rendition of “Paint it Black” was definitely the most buzzed-about of this week’s 12 American Idol performances . The judges loved it, though Simon even acknowledged that a lot of people are likely to dislike her flamboyant style. That’s a compliment, as it beats indifference. We gotta give it up to Siobhan Magnus for upping the drama, paying tribute to this Rolling Stones classic, yet being original and keeping us riveted throughout. Here’s the performance if you missed it or want another look … Siobhan Magnus: Paint it Black What do you think? The night’s best, or not worth the hype some gave it? Can Siobhan compete for the American Idol title or will she fade fast?
