Put On Blast: O.J. Simpson Tries To Blame Lawyer For Robbery Conviction, Lawyer Claps Back And Says “I Told Him To Call The Cops”

O.J. , dude they not letting you out. You’re like Charles Manson. You can come up for parole a million times, but it just ain’t happening boo. O.J.’s Lawyer Says He Told Him To Call The Cops According to Raw Story The lawyer accused of bungling O.J. Simpson’s defense in his armed robbery trial said Friday he told the former American football star to contact police rather than embark on an ill-fated attempt to recover personal memorabilia himself. Simpson is appealing against his 2008 conviction and imprisonment at a trial in Las Vegas on the grounds that his attorney at the time, Yale Galanter, mishandled his defense. The 65-year-old, who was infamously acquitted of the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman, was sentenced to between nine and 33 years following his 2007 bid to recover a horde of mementos. Simpson alleges Galanter knew of his intention to recover personal items — that he was ultimately convicted of trying to steal at gunpoint — from two memorabilia dealers at the Palace Station hotel. He also claims that Galanter did not tell him about a plea bargain offer that might have resulted in a substantially shorter period behind bars. However, Galanter on Friday refuted suggestions from Simpson that he had effectively endorsed his client’s plan to try and recover property. “He told me that he finally had a lead on some personal items, some pictures and memorabilia that had been stolen from his house in California many years before,” Galanter told a hearing in Las Vegas. Asked what his reaction had been, Galanter said: “I told him to call the police.” Galanter added that the issue of guns was “never a subject.” Simpson says he only learned after the incident that guns had been involved. One of the most famous American football players of his generation during a glittering 1970s career, Simpson was the prime suspect in the 1994 brutal murders of his ex-wife and Goldman. Brown, who had divorced Simpson in 1992 citing his “abusive behavior,” was attacked so savagely she was almost decapitated. Simpson, who has always vehemently denied the killings, was acquitted after a racially charged 1995 trial in Los Angeles, in a verdict that was greeted with widespread outrage across America. He was subsequently found liable for the deaths in a 1997 civil suit and was ordered to pay damages to the victims’ families totaling $33.5 million. He has repeatedly said he will not pay the settlement. O.J. needs to find God like most inmates and call it a day. AP

O.J. Simpson in Court: Juice to Testify in Bed to Weasel Out of Robbery Conviction

O.J. Simpson is expected in court Monday as he asks a judge to grant him a new trial on grounds that his former attorney mishandled his case. Nevada inmate No. 1027820, who’s serving a 9-to-33-year sentence, will be in Clark County District Court for the start of his five-day hearing. Acquitted of murder in 1995, the NFL great was later convicted in 2008 of leading a sports memorabilia heist at gunpoint in a Las Vegas hotel room. O.J. never testified in his murder trial or in the 2008 kidnapping/robbery case when he was convicted, but is expected to take the stand now. On what grounds? And how does he think he can win? Much of his testimony is expected to point fingers at his former attorney, Yale Galanter, who Simpson believes fumbled the handling of his case. Simpson said he told Galanter he planned to confront two sports memorabilia dealers to retrieve personal items he believed were stolen from him. “I fully disclosed my plan to [Galanter], and he advised me that I was within my legal rights,” Simpson wrote, saying that his attorney knew his plans. O.J. added that Galanter told him it was acceptable as long as he did not trespass or use physical force, and that the lawyer’s mistakes did not end there. Simpson also alleged in the statement that Galanter failed to tell him of a plea deal that would have gotten him two years in prison, the AP reported. “Had I understood that there was an actual chance of conviction, I would have accepted such an offer,” Simpson wrote in a sworn statement. His appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court was denied in 2010. As his current sentence stands, O.J., 65, won’t be eligible for parole until he is 70.

O.J. Simpson Appeals Conviction, Alleges Racial Bias

O.J. Simpson says his conviction for robbery and kidnapping was totally flawed because black jurors were wrongly excluded and the judge was prejudiced. Really. Addressing a three-justice panel of the Nevada Supreme Court, his attorney Yale Galanter, said O.J.’s guilty verdict should be overturned for said reasons. Simpson, who was acquitted after allegedly killing his ex-wife and her friend in 1995, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the 2007 kidnapping/robbery. Galanter said a litany of flaws called the outcome of the 2008 case into question, however, saying the judge served as a de facto prosecutor against O.J. “I don’t think this trial was handled in a fair and impartial manner,” Galanter said of Judge Jackie Glass, who he believes was biased towards the Juice. Worst. Appeal. Ever. Galanter cited an argument with the judge where, he discovered later, a bailiff was standing behind him during the exchange, handcuffs at the ready. “I had no idea that was happening. But the mental picture that creates for jurors is devastating for a lawyer trying to have credibility,” Galanter said. Also devastating? O.J. when he’s in a bad mood. Right, Christie Prody ? Prosecutors also wrongly excluded the only two African-Americans in the jury pool strictly because they might empathize with the defense, he added. “Their speculation on what these African-American jurors may have done had no place in this court room,” he added, saying it “smacked of prejudice.” “It was improper, it was not right,” he said. Same could be said of slitting your ex’s throat or hiring thugs to rob a memorabilia dealer, but no matter . State prosecutors denied the two jurors had been unfairly excluded. The court will rule on the appeal of O.J. Simpson ‘s conviction at a later date.
