Source: NOVA SAFO / Getty Apparently, there are still great people in the world, and they’re all nurses at Touchette Regional Hospital in Illinois. When Illinois dad Darius Hinkle discovered that his one-year old daughter was choking on a penny, he rushed her to the hospital, despite not having a valid drivers license. By the time he actually made it to the ER, more than a handful of police officers were behind him and took him into custody. Donecia Pittman, the one-year old’s mother, told reporters that when she arrived to the jail to bail her boyfriend out, there was already a woman in front her asking to bail Darius Hinkle. The woman revealed that she was a nurse from the hospital — her and the other nurses chipped in to pay the father’s bond. Hinkle told Fox 2 Now , “[When I arrived at the hospital] I got out, put my hands up, and I yelled and told the police my baby is choking, I can’t thank [the nurses] enough for both their kindness shown towards me and for saving my little girl.” Miracles do happen. Shout out to those nurses.

Source: Under Armour / Under Armour The New York Knick’s Dennis Smith Jr . might’ve struck out at the 2019 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, but the hoopers in his old stomping grounds of Fayetteville, NC were still winners at the end of NBA All-Star Weekend. In conjunction with Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation, Dennis Smith Jr. and Under Armour went to DSJ’s hometown and treated the city to a carnival-style celebration as part of the unveiling of two refurbished basketball courts at the Smith Recreation Center. Seabrook Park at Smith Recreation Center is where Dennis grew up learning and growing his unique brand of basketball. Countless hours spent on these courts molded Dennis into the athlete he’s become – in his never ending pursuit of getting better. Now, with Under Armour, Dennis has the opportunity to pay it back and pave a way forward for the next generation of Fayetteville dreamers, helping to completely refurbish and revitalize the two courts he grew up playing on. And now he’s made it possible for someone else from his old home to follow in his footsteps and make their way to the NBA. Much props to Dennis Smith Jr, Under Armour and the Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation for giving this to the community. Check out pics below. Daniel Kaluuya, Lakeith Stanfield In Talks To Star In Film Based On Black Panther Party’s Fred Hampton

Source: Christopher Polk / Getty Daniel Kaluuya  and  Lakeith Stanfield are currently in talks to star in  Jesus Was My Homeboy , a film about Black Panther Party leader  Fred Hampton . The film will be produced by  Ryan Coogler  and MACRO’s Charles D. King. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Kaluuya, who had a star-marking turn for his role in 2017’s  Get Out would star as  Fred Hampton and Stanfield would star as  William O’neal , the man who betrayed Hampton to the FBI. Here’s the synopsis according to  Deadline : The film will follow the rise and untimely demise of Hampton as seen through O’Neal’s eyes. It will explore how the FBI infiltrated the Black Panthers, the psychology of their informant and the notorious assassination of the young political leader who died aged only 21. It’s a major story as Hampton quickly rose to the upper echelon of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party and eventually became the deputy chairman of the national organization. As he became more visible and charismatic in his speeches, he became a target of the FBI and was killed in a raid by Chicago police along with the FBI. Fellow Panther Mark Clark also died in the raid as the two men were sleeping. O’Neal, who gave the FBI the plans to Hampton’s Chicago apartment, died by suicide in 1990. Image via (Randy Holmes/ABC via Getty Images) Looks Like Kanye West Isn’t COMPLETELY Distancing Himself From Politics Chicago mayoral candidate Amara Enyia–who was officially endorsed by Chance the Rapper–says she received yet another donation from  Kanye West  following his tweet where he expressed his decision to distance himself from politics. The rapper tweeted, “My eyes are now wide open and now realize I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in. The new $126,460 donation to the progressive Chicago mayoral candidate was disclosed on Wednesday, per a  report  from  NBC Chicago . Previously, West gave the campaign fund $73,540, making this recent amount almost double. After the Illinois State Board of Elections fined Enyia for “failing to properly file quarterly finance reports in connection with her 2015 campaign for mayor,” Kanye stepped in to offer a helping hand. Enyia never closed her campaign account following her withdrawal from the 2015 mayoral race, prompting the fines but now, which is what Yeezy’s $73K contribution covered. There’s no word yet on what this new donation from Kanye covers, but what it does show is that he’s still invested in politics at least for Chicago’s sake. Chance the Rapper was the first rapper to endorse Enyia, with his friend and collaborator Kanye following closely behind and attending an event with both Amara and Chance. “Narcissistically, if I back you, you have a chance,” Chance said last month during a press conference that simultaneously served as his announcement of the Enyia endorsement and his denouncement of rumors suggesting he was planning to run himself.

Source: SAUL LOEB / Getty Kanye West , MAGA hat and all, didn’t exactly help himself on the political front after visiting with President Donald Trump in a bizarre exchange earlier this month. But it appears Ye is looking to change that perception after donating to the campaign of a Black woman running for mayor in his hometown of Chicago. The Blast reports : Ye dropped $73,540.00 into the campaign of Amara Enyia on Monday morning, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections. Enyia has been publicly backed by Chance the Rapper during her quest to become the next Mayor of Chicago, and it’s clear Chance has been speaking to Kanye. The amount Ye donated matches up, to the penny, for a fine Enyia is facing from the Board of Elections for failing to properly file documents in relation to her 2015 campaign for Mayor. The outstanding debt needed to be satisfied by December in order for Enyia to run for office. Noble as this gesture is, it still doesn’t mean Yeezy is invited back to the Thanksgiving table considering that hat is still in play. But perhaps the producer and designer might have some greater scheme in mind by donning the slogan-emblazoned cap. Do remember that West claims he’s running for president in 2020, so maybe he’s soaking up game and getting the MAGA crowd behind him. Time will tell. — Photo: Getty
