Source: The Washington Post / Getty The fallout and continuing revelations that have come forth in the wake of the recent airing of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docu-series continue to mount. Dame Dash once again shared details of when he and Jay-Z’s became strained as a result of the rapper joining forces with Kelly on a joint album with Dash seemingly admitting that he looked the other way. Page Six reports : In a clip from an upcoming episode of Nick Cannon’s “Cannon’s Class,” the Roc-a-Fella Records co-founder admitted he regretted not saying anything when Jay-Z collaborated with Kelly, who wed Dame’s late girlfriend Aaliyah when she was just 15 years old. “I’m human, bro. But I had to look the other way, all these years,” Dash said. “So publicly that man did a record with the n—a that raped my girl, that he liked as well. Right? You understand what I’m saying? But no one said nothing.” Earlier in the clip, he also recalled Aaliyah’s reluctance to talk about her time with Kelly. The singer, who tragically died in a plane crash in 2001 when she was just 22, secretly wed Kelly in 1994, when she was just 15 after the two had collaborated on her debut album “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number.” Her parents annulled the marriage the next year. Source: Scott Legato / Getty The families of R. Kelly ‘s alleged accusers are concerned that the criminal investigation in Georgia into the explosive allegations put forth by the Lifetime docu-series Surviving R. Kelly will inspire the singer to flee the country. The family hopes that a charge will be levied against Kelly to keep him from leaving the United States with some of his alleged “sex cult” victims. The Blast reports : Sources connected to the alleged victims of R. Kelly tell The Blast there is a rumor circulating that the singer is preparing to leave the United States, and we are told Africa has been mentioned as one of the places he may seek solace. We’re told families of the women in his alleged sex cult are worried if the girls travel out of the country with Kelly they may lose all hope of reconnecting. Our sources are hoping officials stop the singer ASAP, including charging him with a crime to possibly freeze his passport and keep him in the United States. The Blast broke the story, the Fulton County District Attorney began investigating Kelly after the multitude of allegations made in the Lifetime docu-series, “Surviving R. Kelly.” We’re told the Chief Investigator has been in contact with the family of Joycelyn Savage, who has not spoken with her family in years. We’re told investigators have also made contact with R. Kelly’s camp. As it stands, Kelly has yet to speak to the allegations since the documentary has aired. — Photo: Getty
Source: Chelsea Lauren / Getty Master P recently shared his opinion about the allegations against R. Kelly and the singer’s alleged victims. But unlike Chance the Rapper and John Legend who have come out against the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer, the rapper blames the parents, NOT the singer himself. On social media, the rapper posted his thoughts about the highly-watched Lifetime docuseries, “Surviving R. Kelly,” which provided an in-depth look at the 25-plus-years of sexual misconduct accusations against the “Pied Piper.” The 48-year-old father admitted that he doesn’t like folks like the Savages and doesn’t believe they did enough to protect their children. “Let me tell y’all about R. Kelly. The truth is I don’t like the parents…Y’all know I ain’t gonna be on no reality show or Lifetime, I’ma be on CNN, straight up. It’s gonna get real, think about it, I’m not about to play with nobody, I’ma burn it down, I’m gonna do something,” he said. In a second video, he added this wouldn’t have happened to him. “Ain’t nobody gonna play with my kids. Straight up. You shouldn’t have even been on TV, and if you a parent, you shouldn’t be on that unless you on CNN from a jail cell.” Adding, “I don’t know if R. Kelly did it or not, that ain’t any of my business, I ain’t judging, but I’m just saying those parents shouldn’t have let that go that far. … If my kid in there, it’s gonna be all out war. Everybody coming outside, to be honest with you.” Wait…so which one is it? How can you be mad at parents for not protecting their daughters from sexual and physical violence you claim may not have happened? Folks on Twitter were confused and disgusted by what Master P said, accusing him of victim blaming and refusing to hold Kelly accountable for his alleged behavior: Just heard Master P say that what R. Kelly does is not his business. Master P has a Black daughter. Again, proximity to Black women doesn't guarantee being seen as human. — T Lloyd (@T_Lloyd) January 7, 2019 This is disgusting. @MasterPMiller just giving R Kelly a pass and blaming the parents. This is why R Kelly has not been held accountable in a way that matches his crimes. https://t.co/TxOK1fLOts — Yashar Ali (@yashar) January 7, 2019 Master P blamed everyone else except R. Kelly. When it came down to actually speaking on R. Kelly, then “its not his business” “he aint judging”. He doesn't actually care about Black girls and women. — Melancholy Tiff *Capitalism kills* Hallback (@Tiff__83) January 7, 2019 So Master P won’t judge R. Kelly, but he can judge the parents of R. Kelly’s victims? pic.twitter.com/2ug3WlNQdL — Blanche NeverHo (@Black_Daria1) January 7, 2019 The parents called the police multiple times, made multiple missing persons reports, set up a hotline for R.Kelly victims, did several wellness checks, went to TMZ, went to the today show, and Master P is mad because they didn't go to CNN? What the fuck is wrong with y'all? — Blerd Talk (@AntravisBisou) January 7, 2019 Of course, there were also people who agreed with the rapper’s stance: Master p said exactly what needed to be said about the R kelly situation — Osama Bin Milly (@Militant_Mill) January 7, 2019 Aye Master P the realest man to speak on R Kelly and that’s FACT! Like he said I’m going to war behind my child that’s LAW! Mfs woulda been doing my interview from CNN too skraight up — Young Entrepreneur (@YannaaRose) January 7, 2019 Master P the realest one. Everybody blaming R.Kelly but ain’t nobody blaming these parents. — A K A Y (@ForeverAKay_) January 7, 2019 This set of Master P videos came out the same day that Facebook shut down pages on its site trying to “expose” the singer’s accusers. As we previously reported , reps from the social network claimed that “Surviving The Lies” violated terms of service. “The Page violated our Community Standards and has been removed,” a Facebook rep said in a statement. “We do not tolerate bullying or sharing other’s private contact information and take action on content that violates our policies as soon as we’re aware.” Initially, TMZ reported that “[R. Kelly] and his camp” were behind the two accounts and created them in order to fight back against the doc. A Facebook page created yesterday is now running ads to smear R Kelly's accusers. The page paints Kelly as someone “surviving lies.” pic.twitter.com/hbwZ4DXXiz — Ryan Mac (@RMac18) January 7, 2019 RELATED NEWS: #SurvivingRKelly: Facebook Shuts Down Page ‘Exposing’ The Singer’s Accusers #SurvivingRKelly: Five Emotions You’ll Experience Watching The New Lifetime Docuseries Aaliyah’s Mother Dismisses Backup Dancer’s Claim She Saw Aaliyah & R. Megyn Kelly is out. And her replacements are officially in. On Monday morning, about three months after Megyn Kelly was fired for being naive, insensitive and also pretty darn racist, NBC went ahead and seemingly named her replacement. Indeed, Megyn Kelly Today is no more. Viewers should now prepare themselves for … Dylan Dreyer, Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones And Craig Melvin Today ? Okay, the name may be a work in progress. But Dreyer wrote the following to her Twitter followers a few hours ago: Hope you don’t mind these faces! You’ll be seeing a lot of them at 9am. Please join us! #3rdhourtoday #youvegotafriendinus #letthegoodtimesroll @TODAYshow @SheinelleJones @craigmelvin @alroker. Aside from tagging her colleagues, Dreyer shared this photo of them along with her message: Roker, meanwhile, posted the same snapshot and simply wrote: “I love these guys.” It is worth noting, however, that NBC is yet to officially announce anything. In fact, Jenna Bush Hager served as a co-host on the day Dreyer sent this message; and she has been a rumored replacement herself for Kelly. Kelly, for her part, never found footing – or an audience – on NBC. The network tried to act as if she was never a polarizing political pundit at Fox News prior to her hiring, shaving off all rough edges and re-introducing her as their own kind of harmless and fun Kelly Ripa. The makeover never worked. It actually failed miserably. But Kelly wasn’t shown the door until she ignited a controversy during a Halloween costume discussion in which she wondered why blackface was considered taboo . “You do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface for Halloween or a black person who puts on white face for Halloween,” Kelly said during a panel discussion that got way, awy away from her, adding erroneously: “Back when I was a kid, that was OK as long as you were dressed up as like a character.” She later wondered what makes something racist . Once she learned the history of how demeaning and flat-out racist the concept of blackface actually is (something she, a seasoned journalist, didn’t know beforehand?!?), Kelly issued an apology. “I was wrong and I am sorry,” she told viewers, continuing as follows: “Sometimes I talk and sometimes I listen and yesterday, I learned. “I learned that given the history of blackface being used in awful ways by racists in this country, it is not OK for that to be part of any costume, Halloween or otherwise.” But it was too little and too late. And she had already been too unpopular at NBC for executives to fight for her job. Kelly, of course, walked away with millions and millions (and millions!) of dollars, so no one is feeling to badly for her at the moment. Elsewhere, NBC is yet to announce a replacement for Kathie Lee Gifford, who will be leaving her seat alongside Hoda Kotb in April. “I have my idea of who might be absolutely wonderful, but there’s a great pool of talent and beauty and heart around here, right within our own family,” Kathie Lee said when confirming her departure . “And if they come from outside the family they will soon become family because you all treat everybody that way…” Gifford is exiting the program in a graceful manner. The same cannot be said for Kelly. Will you give the 9 a.m. hour of Today a shot again if the quartet listed above really are the ones to step into Megyn’s shoes? (As documented below, those shoes have so often been anti-African American.) View Slideshow: 11 Times Megyn Kelly Was Really Very Racist
Source: Prince Williams / Getty R. Kelly Threatens To Lifetime If They Air Docu-series R. Kelly is threatening to sue Lifetime if the network doesn’t pull the plug on airing its documentary according to a TMZ report. Kelly’s lawyer, Brian Nix, fired off on the network in a legal letter. Nix claims the “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary is packed with lies. Nix threatens to file a federal lawsuit today if the network doesn’t relent. Kelly’s camp is alleging that the women featured on the show made false allegations to become famous. To back up claims, Kelly says he has 2 audio recordings — 5 minutes in duration — that show Lifetime knew “some of the girls are lying, but that the budget was too high to turn back now.” The show is set to air TONIGHT. As far as we know, Lifetime plans to air 6-part documentary in full. The show will feature people from Kelly’s inner circle coming forward with new allegations that Kelly has sexually, mentally and physically abused women. Some of them speak for the first time ever on the subject. As we previously reported, a backup singer for Kelly tells her account of how she witnesses R. Kelly statutory raping singer Aaliyah when she was just 15. Will you still be watching tonight?
F lorida’s Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson won’t shed a tear for ousted White House Chief of Staff John Kelly ’ s last day on the job because of his disrespect for African-Americans—and the personal hell he caused her. President Trump announced Kelly’s dismissal on Saturday. See Also: Omarosa Takes A Swipe At John Kelly’s Dismissal As White House Chief Of Staff Kelly has not apologized for slandering her name and for the death threats she received stemming from their public feud, Wilson told “CNN Tonight” host Don Lemon on Tuesday. She said Kelly lied about her falsely taking credit for obtaining funding for construction of a new federal building in Florida. “[He] made up the whole story to side with the president to make it look like I was some sort of a clown or someone who was, who just lies all the time, and I think that’s why he never apologized, and because he does not respect women, and he definitely does not respect Black women, and I don’t think he respects Black people,” she said. “I don’t think that Mr. Kelly did a good job, and I think I want to say good riddance to him. Goodbye.” The death threats she received following Kelly’s comments prompted her to hire armed security guards, the congresswoman stated. Rep. Frederica Wilson receives lynching threats, the latest in an emerging pattern from Trump supporters. https://t.co/l6LkGnzGe6 pic.twitter.com/6Wx0egSqfn — NewsOne (@newsone) October 26, 2017 Wilson was vindicated when the Sun-Sentinel republished a video of Wilson’s speech, which Kelly referenced, proving she did not brag about raising the $20 million needed to construct the FBI building. The feud between Kelly, a retired four-star Marine Corps general, and Wilson stems from a dispute between the congresswoman and Trump over his mistreatment of Army Sgt. La David Johnson ’s widow Myeshia Johnson . Wilson and Myeshia Johnson’s aunt overheard the president’s insensitive remarks in his condolence phone call to the widow in 2017. La David Johnson was one of four U.S. soldiers killed in an October 2017 ambush in Niger. Wilson publicly criticized Trump, and the president called the congresswoman a liar. Myeshia Johnson later confirmed on ABC’s “ Good Morning America ” that Wilson’s version of the conversation was “100 percent correct.” Kelly ignited controversy on his own when he disregarded slavery as a cause of the Civil War and praised Confederate General Robert E. Lee during an interview with Fox News. “The lack of an ability to compromise led to the Civil War. And men and women of good faith on both sides made their stand where their conscience had to make their stand,” Kelly said during an interview on the cable channel’s “The Ingraham Angle,” avoiding any mention of slavery. Lee was “an honorable man,” Kelly also said, despite the deadly violence that erupted at a white supremacist protest in Charlottesville , Virginia over the statue’s removal in 2017. Photo by: Nathan Congleton/NBC/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images The Show Has Also Been Beating Out ‘GMA’ Ever since Megyn Kelly left NBC’s Today show following her blackface comments , it seems things have been looking up for the network. According to Variety , viewership for the 9 a.m. show by their key demographic is up around 10% since Kelly left. On top of all this, for the last three weeks, the overall audience for the first two hours of the NBC show has been larger than that of their rival — ABC’s Good Morning America. Experts are attributing the larger audience to recent tragedies such as the Pittsburgh shooting . NBC canceled Megyn Kelly Today on October 26, just two days after she made comments diminishing the harm of blackface. Despite Kelly’s show ending, sources say she is still negotiating terms with NBCUniversal for her departure. It’s not certain whether NBC’s rating surge will hold or fall back to more average levels. GMA usually beats them out as the biggest morning-news audience overall, although Today usually takes the lead in the group that matters more — the viewers between 25 and 54 who advertisers favor for news programming. In Kelly’s last week on air, Today captured 675,000 viewers between 25 and 54, according to Nielsen and approximately 2.52 million viewers overall. Last week, the third hour of Today gained 741,000 viewers between 25 and 54, and more than 2.63 million viewers overall, showing jumps of about 10% and 4%. Since Kelly’s show was canceled, Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie have become co-hosts of the Today show. They are currently the only all-female morning anchor team on national broadcast TV. Many people seem to be all about their presence, considering Barbie just revealed them as the latest addition to their “Sheroes” collection. According to the company, their “sheroes” dolls represent women who “break boundaries to inspire the next generation.” There’s no word if Megyn Kelly got the email to be apart of the “Sheroes” collection.
If you’ve ever watched The View , you’ve obviously found yourself thinking “dumb opinions just aren’t represented enough on this show!” That may be about to change. Apparently ABC is looking at none other than disgraced former Today host Megyn Kelly to become a full-time host on The View . RadarOnline reports that Megyn Kelly might have a permanent seat at the table on The View . “They want her as a full-time host,” a network insider reveals. Megyn would become another talking head on the all-female panel that includes Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, and Meghan McCain. “Execs are very hot on the idea,” the source shares. If you are of the opinion that one can never have enough blondes whose name is a variation on Megan , then sure. Apparently, it is the network’s view that Megyn would bring a much-needed voice to the show. “They think she would be able to keep up with [co-host] Whoopi Goldberg,” and insider says. “And keep her in check.” Why does Whoopi need to be kept in check, exactly? We don’t seem to recall her losing control and eating a guest’s face. But some at ABC are loving the idea. The source says: “They think it would be blockbuster to have her.” Sure, it is just as good of an idea as the concept of the Blockbuster chain of stores sounds in late 2018. It’s important to note that a rep for ABC flatly denied that they’re looking to bring Megyn Kelly over to The View . But RadarOnline ‘s source insists that they’re in the early stages of negotiations, but that Megyn’s eager to eventually join the show. So … we’re definitely treating this as an unconfirmed report. Speaking of negotations, she’s still negotiating with NBC to leave with all of the money they’d promised her. There was also talk about Megyn going back to her old network, FOX. “Once the non-compete clause is figured out,” the insider says.” The View is most likely going to be one of the first places she appears on.” The source continues that she’ll appear “at least as a guest, at first.” Apparently, one thing that Megyn would like to talk about on television is how her latest gig ended. “Megyn likes the idea of having a real conversation and not a fake conversation about what happened at NBC,” the insider reveals. “She finally wants to say what execs told her,” the source continues. “They said if she apologized, they would have her back.” The insider adds: “She did apologize and they didn’t have her back.” Of course, maybe NBC executives didn’t realize how much damage she had done, or how intense the backlash would be. And maybe they realized that, if they didn’t end her reign now, she’d say something worse, later. “She asked for $10 million to sign a confidentiality agreement,” the source says. “But,” the insider continues. “NBC isn’t going to pay that.” The source explains: “So she’s saying, ‘okay, I’ll expose it all.'” That won’t endear her to her former employers, and what looks like legal blackmail won’t look great to future employers, either. But better blackmail than blackface, we guess. But seriously, how many blonde centrist-conservatives whose names are some permutation of Megan does The View need? Either there will be two of them, or Meghan McCain will leave the show only to be replaced by Megyn Kelly. Both of those scenarios sound awkward as hell. We hate to boil it down to hair color and names, but that’s something that execs should keep in mind. Also, since Megyn Kelly’s ratings on Today were described as “historic lows for NBC,” maybe she’s not exactly a ticket to success. View Slideshow: 11 Times Megyn Kelly Was Really Very Racist
Shannon Beador’s great apology tour kicked off on Tuesday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County. The 54-year-old had previously lashed out at her castmates when everyone admitted that her behavior at the top of the trip to Jamaica was not the best. Who can blame them for trashing her? She’s been so hostile to just about everyone who wants to help her out. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and after a day of hiding, Beador rejoined the ladies and opened up about her thoughts. “To address the elephant in the room, I appreciate you guys giving me the time and space because I’m a person when I’m upset, I need to take a step back,” Shannon declared as though she was addressing her lemmings. “After last night, I am incredibly hurt. I know there are discussions that have to be had at some point, and we can do that. But I needed time.” That’s when she finally admitted that she was going through a lot of things. “I get it, we all have stuff on our plate, but for me, in my life, it is more than I’ve ever had on my plate,” she said with a stern look on her face. While most of the women just nodded to shut Shannon up because she’d already sucked most of the fun out of the vacation, Emily Simpson was quick to point out that Shannon refused to support her. “It’s a fair criticism, and I apologize for that,’ Shannon told her, but there was no confirmation whether Shannon was going to make progress with both Emily and Gina. The biggest surprise here was that Kelly later revealed she was mad about the way Shannon handled things. “Thanks for finally coming, I’ve been calling you. I was worried about you,” said Kelly with tears in her eyes. “All you had to say was to have manners and to be kind and nice. You could have just said ‘I’m here.’ It was hurtful, Shannon, I was worried about you,” Kelly complained. The biggest concern for Kelly was that Shannon has long strived for people to have manners, noting that it was “ironic that she’s the one with the least manners.” “She went through all these cotillions, and it’s like, girl, you don’t have any manners,” Kelly continued. “Shannon has no idea of the stress that she’s put on us today. She has no idea how worried we were, and that’s the kind of apology we’re going to get?” Kelly fumed. Gina was up next to air her side of the story, and it quickly returned to the fact that Shannon was putting up a wall. “It was upsetting all around. I didn’t realize all this was going on. Honestly, I was just trying to break through. I was trying to be your friend,” Gina said to her enemy. “I have a very difficult time hearing that you’re going through a divorce and you’re still attracted to your husband, and he’s still your best friend because that’s what I wanted in my life,” Shannon finally admitted. “When you said that I was judging you, that wasn’t my intent. My intent was just to impart the experience and the information because I started my process with a very optimistic attitude,” Shannon continued. That allowed Gina to finally open up to Shannon in a way she never could have before. “I’m not sitting here and saying everything’s perfect and that’s why I’m getting divorced,” she said. “Like, no, obviously not. It’s a transition. It’s really hard. I hear you guys, but this is my journey. I just want to be respected for it, you know?” Gina said. Despite all of the arguing, the ladies were stronger by the end of the trip. It remains to be seen if grudges will be taken back to Orange County with them. What are your thoughts on all of this?
